This is the most consistent fast food restaurant around. The chicken is always fresh, never frozen. As someone who lives in Birmingham who doesn’t live very close to a Guthrie’s, I sometimes eat Zaxby’s when I get a craving for fried chicken… it doesn’t even come close to how good Guthrie’s of Cullman’s chicken is. You can tell that the fingers have just been hand dipped and breaded because they’re so delicious! Definitely a good go-to spot in Cullman!

During my visit back home, I was looking forward to the awesome chicken and sauce originating from Auburn, Alabama. Blah. That’s the best way to describe the food. .. except for the coleslaw, which was even despised by the workers at Guthries who explained that most people«just got extra fries instead of coleslaw!» I expected more. Maybe that’s why the parking lot was usually empty.

Guthries is another franchise that began in sweet home Alabama. They are a little difficult to find since they are sparsely located but worth the stop if you pass by. I was a little disappointed when they closed the location in Gardendale and super excited when I found out there was one in Cullman. They only sell chicken fingers so don’t go expecting a lot of choices. Their chicken fingers have a light crust with wonderful spices.(Although you may experience the«crap my crust is falling off» issue.) And any place that also offers a grilled version of chicken fingers gets two thumbs up from this gal. The chicken finger plate comes with 4 fingers, toast, fries, sauce, and slaw. The fries, crinkle cut and a little crunchy, are super salty which is a negative for some but I think potatoes need plenty of salt. The cole slaw is a PERFECT combination of mayo and vinegar. The cabbage and vegetables are finely chopped and the slaw isn’t too runny. It is $ 0.49 for a small cup. The sauce is original, creamy, and has a little kick. The sweet tea is pretty good too. BUT my absolute favorite item is the Grilled Chicken Pita. It is a soft, chewy, perfectly toasted pita folded around grilled chicken tenders, loads of melted cheddar cheese, and lettuce with your choice of sauce on the side. The service at this location was a little slow considering there was only one other group of people inside and a couple of cars in the drive thru, but our food did taste freshly prepared and the staff was nice. Favorite Meal: Grilled Chicken Pita, cole slaw, and a sweet tea The reason it’s on my «Top 100 Dishes to Try» list: Grilled Chicken Pita The reason it’s on my «The Little Things» list: cole slaw Guthries sauce

Just ate a Guthries for the first time today. Had a chicken finger sandwich and sweet tea. I thought the food was delicious! The Guthrie’s sauce is also great!

Top of the most wanted list of the American Heart Association! Chicken Fingers fried to a perfect golden brown and served on a bed of french fries — both covered with plenty of salt. Not necessarily fresh if you don’t arrive during peak times, but the service is friendly and super fast. Wings are a new addition to the menu. The buffalo sauce wasn’t spicy enough for me and I would have preferred them cooked a little longer. The lunch special included a free drink, so you can eat here for $ 5 and be pretty happy until you realize how many calories you just consumed!
