Place was great, packed in Friday with live music and Blackhawks game on the tv. People made room at the bar and everyone was jovial and in high spirits. Barkeep knew her stuff and kept up and in touch with us. Enjoyed the Magnetron Lager whilst the wife swooned over the Glacier Point cocktail — «Oh, the cucumber! Oh, the basil!» We will be back!

Love this place! They were very busy but Melissa took very good care of us! We were a party of almost 10 and she was fantastic!

This place is amazing! The bartenders are so nice and very helpful. The specialty drinks are very good. There were many great deals on different days especially the oysters that are on special. Jasters is %100 becoming a favorite spot of mine. I can’t wait to go back.

Disappointed. First time here, lost their chef & sous chef so they had only charcuterie. Fine we could pick 4 or 8… chose 8 just cheeses… got 5 only 4 pickles & bread Couple next to us had apple… has to ask for some too. How about«nuts, dried fruit, jam»? For $ 20

Boyfriend and I love this little joint on the corner! Found my favorite drink a grey goose martini straight up with their cheese stuffed olives and it diffuses the best flavor! Then my boyfriend eats the olives. Really enjoyed the horseradish cheese and applewood. Had one their flatbreads the Philly Cheese Steak and I enjoyed it. Would recommend considering we keep going back!

Fabulous gourmet food and cocktails. The atmosphere is beautiful. The staff professional and sweet. My husband and I make this a regular destination for our date nights because we actually really love this place. It’s a gem in Crystal Lake.

Overall, this place is a really nice bar. Beautifully decorated, great atmosphere, generous staff, this place isn’t expected in the ‘Burbs. Like in some of my previous reviews, I base the place(Jaster’s as of now) on how nice the staff are, if the place is warm and welcoming and, lastly, great food/drinks. This place right away from the outside met my requirements. But, I still wanted to see the inside. Inside it was better! Everyone was so welcoming and it made me feel great. I ordered a white wine, while the hubby got a beer. He was instantly talking with the other guys about the football game going on. I talked to the ladies next to me. They said their husbands were the ones talking with my hubby, and so we talked, too. I had a great night, and so did my hubby. We definitely are coming back on Friday, Saturday, or, Sunday. For what I know, my wine was really great. I had 1, so I didn’t go home to the babysitter and kids, drunk, nor did my hubby. I never really go out to bars, and this is a first for me, the kids, and my hubby, but whenever we have the chance again, we will come back. The ladies, Lily, Rose, and Anna, and now me, bought 4 mozzarella sticks and split the costs. The mozzarella sticks turned out wonderful! The only problem was it was quite expensive. Jaster’s is great, and I will definitely come back.

We have been to Jasters a couple times and it is now our favorite place in the area. Great drinks, super friendly staff, fun live music. The interior is great. Sounds funny but the bar stools are so comfortable! Hands down one of the best cheese plates ever. This place feels like its out of North Park San Diego. Love it!

This is a great place for craft beer and to taste unique foods, gluten free as well. The place is small, so if there is a crowd, be prepared to take your time, however, well worth the wait. The building and décor is reminiscent of Chicago, the staff is friendly, and the overall ambiance is warm.

Stopped in here for drinks on a Saturday night, nice lively crowd, probably skewed a bit older. The atmosphere is great, really beautifully done bar and old tin ceilings, chandeliers. Just really pretty and a lot more upscale than what you would typically see in the suburbs. I decided to go with the Jaster’s Old Fashioned from their cocktail menu, which was I guess supposed to be like a normal old fashioned, but with some ginger liqueur, which sounded pretty good. I’m a huge old fashioned fan and was pretty disappointed. It pretty much just tasted like a very watered down old fashioned. They use crushed ice instead of a large cube like you’d typically see at a nice cocktail bar and topped it off with a lot of soda. At $ 11 in the suburbs, this seemed pretty pricey for what you got. Though my brother got a Moscow mule and it was good, but hard to mess up that cocktail. So while I was disappointed in the drink I got, I’m still giving four stars based in the nice service and great atmosphere of this place. They seem to have good specials during the week and I would def be back next time I’m out this way for a glass of wine or something. It’s definitely a more trendy type place than you’d typically find in CL.

Jaster’s is our favorite spot in Crystal Lake, despite the good selection of nice restaurants for a small city. It’s an intimate spot that has a solid selection of craft beer, delicious cocktails, and a perfect menu for sharing. We’ve had a great experience every time we’ve gone, and always feel welcome. Although I like being able to get a seat, I hope they are able to expand their customer base an keep growing.

Such a gem. Always wanted to check out Jaster’s and finally got the chance, only to wish I had sooner. Great atmosphere, beautifully decorated, warm welcoming service, with dynamite cocktails to boot. After liking the Facebook page and realizing they do Taco Tuesday’s, I’m ready to declare Jaster’s my favorite Crystal Lake spot. Can’t wait to bring more friends!

We came back again a second time now that they are serving food. The place was packed on a Friday night but we got a table in the back that was fine. We had a few drinks and drafts and shared an 8 item cured meat and cheese platter served on a plank that was expensive but very good we thought. It had a few types of really good salami and this duck prosciutto which was amazing along with some really good cheeses. Good for nibbling and went great with beer. Also had a ½ dozen oysters and at $ 13, was a deal and we ended up ordering another ½ dozen. Yes this place is expensive so not something we would do all the time. But very glad they seem to be flourishing in Crystal Lake despite being a little more sophisticated and pricey than the usual bars here. We will continue to go here.

I have this three starts because we were so disappointed with the menu. I will explain later but first I will start out with the good stuff. The interior of this building is so cool. It has a very hip trendy kind of feel but still warm and welcoming. The service was fantastic but the place is small and well staffed so it is not hard for servers to pay a lot of attention to their tables. We were here last week for a quick bite with family before our daughters choir concert. We had visited this place before the kitchen was open and loved the beer & wine selection so we were excited to try it now that the kitchen was open. We ordered the cheese & meat plate(8) & several flat breads, as well as the steak tartare. The flat breads were OK, the mushroom was good but a bit dry & bland, the duck was again OK with little flavor and really dry. The best one was the traditional pizza style because the sauce made it not so dry. I was excited about the meat & cheese plate when we ordered. The selection was great but when it came we were disappointed. I know they are going for the tapas thing here but if you are going to charge $ 25 in crystal lake for the plate it better be spectacular. It was not. The few olives in the center were plain, the little smothering of jam was just a fruit jam, nothing original & the meats & cheese were pretty good. We have had better from Caputo’s. I added a picture so you can see. The steak tartare was ordered by my boys trying to be adventurous but what can you say about raw beef, it did not make them ill so that is good! Everything being considered we will be back but for drinks only.

This is a classy place without being snobby. I stopped by once after work and on my second visit the staff remembered me. Regardless of it being your first or tenth time, you will receive thoughtful service. There is crafting and artistry in the drinks and food. The menu is simple without being trite. Here’s an example: one menu option is flatbread pizza. Now, it seems that every place from Timbuktu to Kalamazoo has flatbread pizza. But tonight I had the Winters Harvest(which may be out of season, so order while you can). It exceeded my expectations and reminded me why artisan flatbread pizzas became a commonality. At Jasters things are not common, but classic.

Very nice cozy. Gluten free options. Wild Boar w/goat cheese plate was awesome. My husband had the 3 mushroom pizza(gluten free) and I had the winter squash pizza(gluten free) you can substitute as well. The owner Melissa is very nice and attentive. The chef came out to see if every was to our liking as well as the owner! We will be regulars from now on!!!

I have been here several times. Never a bad meal. Service spot on. Drinks are heady and current. Atmosphere is welcoming and electric. You have got to love a busy local bar. Anyone that can’t have a good time here, should stay away. Only happy people welcome.

Although it was a bit noisy in here for my visit, the night I had here was still great. The beer list, while not vastly expansive, was large enough to have me looking through it for a good ten minutes before deciding on a double IPA. Not only did they serve it in the correct glass, a snifter, but also recommended something off of their cocktail menu(what they are known for). I inquired about a flirtini(my secret weakness), and was steered toward a cosmopolitan. I have never had one before and told her I would think about it for a bit. Without asking, the bar tender poured my party a shots worth of cosmo to taste. This put the night over the top for me. Overall, great atmosphere, even better bartenders. A hidden gem in the Crystal Lake area.
