Centegra Health System

Be warned… Centegra has changed it’s billing codes for lab work. In the past lab work has been covered as a co-​pay. Now that they have returned to billing it through their outpatient services it will hit you as a deductible. That meant a $ 550 surprise bill for me.
No heads up. No notice. No warning.
Bad business model.

I too had a wonderful experience with the caring and knowledgeable staff at Centegra. We had started at the «other» immediate care in the vicinity. Big. Mistake. I was met with the same attitude that was stated on here that they were too tired and NOT interested in helping. We hightailed it out of there and were met with caring and concerned staff who were able to diagnose my pneumonia right away and confirmed with a chest x-​ray with near immediate results. I cannot thank them enough. They were professional, caring, self-​less, truly concerned, and gave me every confidence in them. My doctor’s name was Muhammad Ali, after all. Thanks, Champ!

I had taken my wife and daughter here on a Saturday just between Christmas and New Years, as my wife was in a pretty bad way no energy, loss of color (real gray, like a corpse), 102+ fever and my daughter had a pretty bad cough.
The facility itself is clean and well maintained, we were greeted by pleasant staff that directed us on where we needed to go and were very kind to my 5 yr old. We waited a good 45 minutes for them to see a doctor, not wholly unexpected. When my wife and daughter were being examined, wait let me correct that, my daughter was never actually examined. When my wife was examined they told her that she likely had the flu, rammed a swab up her nose (causing a substantial nose bleed) and said that they will wait for the results; if she has the flu then my daughter had the flu too. Her (my wife’s) test came back negative and they were sent on their way.
Fast forward 3 days, my daughter is still coughing horribly and my wife, well if I were to describe what she looked and sounded like in a public forum like this, she would leave me. My wife was still running a horrible fever and having breathing problems. She goes to see our family physician and not 5 minutes into the visit she is told she has pneumonia. The doctor said that she likely had had it for quite a while too. How is it that one doctor can utterly miss the pools of crap in my wife’s lungs during the initial exam and another look at my wife, listen to her describe her symptoms and then say with certainty what is afflicting her. Oh it was confirmed later that afternoon through chest x-​ray that it was in fact pneumonia. Thankfully my wife is better now, not that the doctors at Centegra had any part what so ever in that.
Let’s skip to the present day. Centegra has the audacity to charge me (through my insurance) for services that they never performed, namely an exam of my 5 year old. I am now stuck paying the 20% of the ⁸⁰⁄₂₀ split that I have with my insurance when the only service that involved my daughter was her holding her mothers hand and saying «I’m sorry you feel bad, mommy».
I am not saying that this place couldn’t potentially be a very good facility. I would suggest hiring doctors that actually went to medical school, maybe did a rotation or 2 at hospital. At present I am under the firm belief that they picked up a bunch of extras from the set of E.R. or House after those shows were cancelled and gave them a title. If you value your health, want to actually get the help that you need and are paying for, go to the Advocate up the street.
Also, Centegra was kind enough to call a few days later to check up on my daughter… who they never really looked at and didn’t get to see a doctor but we were charged for it none the less

This is a nice facility located behind Target in Crystal Lake. It’s very clean and modern. I had called nearly every nearby Urgent Care on Monday night about 7 pm to see if they were open. All of them, literally all, told me they were still open but even if I got there before they close they were done taking patients. Most I spoke with were short, sounded tired and just didn’t care. My boyfriend called here and a very pleasant lady said they are open and I could be seen as long as I was there prior to their closing time. We drove right over. The woman who registered me was kind though it was 15 minutes until close and I’m sure she wanted to go home. The waiting area was nice with a tv, magazines, fish tank and separate kids area. I waited for less than 5 minutes to be seen. The nurse promptly entered and also was really sweet. I felt bad showing up right before they closed but again she was extremely nice and took my strep test right then to keep things moving. The doctor came in quickly, examined me, and came back to explain everything. She was compassionate and thorough. I would definitely go back here.
