I want to start by saying that I loved the beers they have to offer, and the staff inside was friendly and we didn’t have to wait long despite their being busy on a 65 degree Sunday afternoon. My complaint is solely with the permanent food truck on location. We ordered a couple items(nachos, chicken tenders, onion rings). Marinara with chicken tenders and fries over ketchup is different, but they were pretty good. The onion rings were what one would expect from a food truck. The real problem hits with our nachos; the cheese wasn’t even remotely melted. I could literally pick the shredded cheese up and sprinkle it over my nacho chips. When we asked them to reheat our nachos to melt the cheese they seemed very inconvenienced by the request. I will want to give them a chance again to see if it could be a place to grab some beers but also be able to have good foods to munch on.

Delicious beer! Fantastic brewery in a very cool space… definitely worth a visit. The beer is easily among the best I’ve had in VA(Three Notch’d in CVille is also worth a visit). It’s near Starr Hill in Crozet and a couple of vineyards are also nearby, so make sure you stop in and check it out.

Hip little local pet friendly spot, super sweet staff, tasty rotating brews. There’s a food truck outside that has satisfying local pub food to satisfy your post brew tasting tipsyness. I’ll be back.

Pro Re Nata doesn’t exactly have the same vibe as the other recent breweries in town but that might be a nice thing. A little closer into Cville than those breweries out in Nelson and clearly targeted for live music with a stage and open space as you walk in. The deisgn of the place has been done really well, a little rustic, a little industrial. Here’s my biggest compliment of anywhere I go: the staff knew what they were doing and how to make people feel welcome. I ordered two beers and the bartender immediatly offered a taste of that beer in addition to another, which I did like much better. I’ll say I didn’t love any of the beers we tasted but I did really appreciate the staff trying to make our experience great.

All of the brews are tasty with new additions coming on a regular basis. Also the food I’ve tried is solid pub fare and works well. You can’t order food and have it delivered to the bar, which is strange. Has to be something with ABC law and not being considered a restaurant. The fire pit is great too. A great addition to Crozet.

Pro Re Nata is the new kid on the block on the Brew Ridge Trail. You can very easily add it to the beginning of your trip if you make the trek out to any of the other breweries in the Crozet area. While Pro Re Nata doesn’t have the stunning views or the rustic feel of some of its competitors, it boosts an industrial modern style complete with high quality brews and its very own permanent food truck. I eagerly anticipated the opening of Pro Re Nata as I passed by it every morning on the way to work. Finally, about two weeks ago, the giant chalkboard read OPEN!, and I planned to stop in soon. After a long work week, their motto«take as needed» really resonated with me. The space is extremely open and has a very modern feel. I was expecting the Friday happy hour crowd to be thicker, but I don’t know many people who aren’t local know about its opening. We were greeted by a pleasant bartender and were informed that while they have other beers brewing, they could only offer two selections. They had a cream ale called the Claudius Crozet and a pale ale called Old Trail, whose namesake is just across 250. Beer is served in two sizes – a pint or a tall 22 ounce pour. We enjoyed both beers. I think I liked the cream ale more, and in my opinion, the pale ale was so hoppy, it seemed more along the lines of an IPA. I love the hops, so you aren’t hearing any complaints from me. The head brewmaster, Brad Hulewicz, has received many accolades, so I can’t wait to try more of their brews once they are ready. There are two large rooms, one where the bar and fermenters are located and another that just has seating near the door. We opted to grab seats in the front room near the windows. We were happy to discover a small selection of board games and passed the time with a few games of Bananagrams. We had plans for dinner later but craved a small snack. Luckily, they have their very own food truck on the property called OTC(Over the Counter). I had seen their Octoberfest menu online, but they weren’t offering it yet, so we went with seasoned fries. They were seasoned well and were the perfect amount to share. The food is very reasonably priced, and I’d love to go back to try other items on the menu. All in all, we really enjoyed our visit to Pro Re Nata, and other friends who are also into craft beer have also enjoyed stopping in. I expect big things from Pro Re Nata. And as soon as they have more beers ready, I’ll definitely be back.
