How does a crab house screw up crabs? They were awful. Service was lacking. And the bathrooms were more disgusting than using a Porto potty after a 3 day music fest. Toilet paper and trash all over the place and even in the sink. Are you kidding me? The only reason it gets 2 stars is because the hush puppies were good and the view on the water was great.

As others have said, it is now called Captain Tyler’s T/A Chesapeake Crabhouse. Four of us had dinner here sitting outside. The crab cakes and soft crabs were delicious. I had Chicken Chesapeake. The chicken was dry, but the crab on top was very good. Our waitress was very attentive and polite. We would recommend this restaurant to others.

Note that this restaurant’s name has changed to the Chesapeake Crabhouse and Tiki Bar! Based on the mixed reviews of this restaurant here and on TripAdvisor, I wasn’t sure what to expect, especially on a Saturday Memorial Day weekend. However, we were pleasantly surprised! We were greeted with smiles and immediately seated by the water out on the deck. Our server was prompt and delightful. The crab cakes were 97% crab with only a little filling, the hush puppies were hot, soft, and full of taste(rather than hard to eat rocks — which is what we are used to at most crab houses in MD), and the green beans, which looked like they were from a can, were actually fresh cut, and delicious! We will DEFINITELY visit this restaurant again when we come back to Crisfield!

Food is very average. No awards here, but you won’t get sick eating it either. Crab soup seemed like canned veggies or canned soup with some crab thrown in. Crab cake sandwich seemed like the crab cakes were previously frozen. They also got our order wrong. But the staff was very nice, and the manager was willing to comp us a dessert because they got part of the order wrong. The good part is the view. There’s an outdoor seating area with a nice view on the harbor. That kinda makes up for the average food.

FIRSTTHING: It is no longer Captain Tyler’s Crabhouse. It is now the«Chesapeake Crabhouse». I know Capt Tyler, and he is no longer running the business, for at least the last year. It is run by another gentleman, but in the same building. Yes, it is yellow as Peg R. says. But Peg R. believes it is the same owner, and it definitely is not. Quality of food: 3 stars. I had crab cakes. Very tasty, but… were cold on the inside. The outside of the cake was dark brown as it should be, but not cooked thoroughly inside. Guessing they don’t change the oil in their fryer often enough. Hush puppies came out cold. Most entrees were seafood. Salad was VERYGOOD. Service: 5 stars. Can’t give the server enough credit. Bar: Depends on what you’re looking for. Nice location, right in the marina. In fact, you sit over the water. Bartenders: No talent, no experience. They know how to open the flip top on a can of Bud. But don’t try to ask for something exotic, because you won’t get it. I think a dirty martini might be pushing the envelope. If you ask for a Stella, they’re likely to tell you she went home a half hour ago. It’s up to you. Do you have the stomach to send your dinner back and make them get it right? If so, you’ll probably be OK.

First. I must mention that the building no longer looks like the picture. We searched all around looking for the blue cinder block. It is now yellow. And called Chesapeake crab house and Tiki bar. I think it is same owner. But name and décor change As far as dinner, my husband and I had the crab cake. They were very good but he had his broiled. Mine fried. Next time I’ll go for the broiled. Both had sweet potato side. Very good I had the macaroni salad. Which, was as good as my sisters and she makes the best in the family. Service was friendly but on the slow side. Waitress did apologize that they were down to two waitresses Nice waterfront view. It was a great night for the deck.

We went to the National Blue Crab Derby(lots of fun!) and asked a local where to go to get a bite(in the air conditioning — it was so hot!). He recommended Capt Tyler’s. The place, inside at least, was low on ambiance — basically a cinderblock building on the water. Nice views from the window, but mass produced prints of ugly crab paintings on the wall. The crabcake was outrageously good, but everything that came with it – from the bun to the coleslaw to the french fries to even the hush puppies– was pretty bad. The hush puppies were over cooked from an odd tasting batter, we both only got ½ a pickle spear with our sandwiches and the pickles were warm(ick!), and the coleslaw tasted like the stuff they serve in school cafeteria lunches. They did have a HUGE selection of Smith Island cakes, but we didn’t get any. The bathroom was not air conditioned, so going in there seriously felt like stepping into an oven.

I expected much more. As a local put the food was«common.» For a place on the water on the Eastern shore the seafood was horrible…

Enjoyed a relaxing dinner with friends on the patio in August. Service was friendly and attentive. Jumbo lump crabcakes outstanding! Delicious steamed crabs kept coming. So nice to see another successful local family business. Worth the drive to Crisfield.
