OVERALL: Ten Peak Umbrella Bar is an awesome place to take one’s break from skiing or snowboarding. It basically has a 360 degree view which includes Mount Crested Butte and the surrounding landscape. They have a full bar, along with sandwiches/wraps. The seating consists of barstools and tables that are movable to accommodate for various sizes of groups. It is located at the top of the Painter Boy(green level) lift which makes it easily accessible to any level of skier/boarder.* PROS: The view! The food is delicious as well and its nice that the barstools are moveable to accommodate for various sizes of groups. The restrooms are in the adjacent building, and if you cant find anything that looks appetizing at the umbrella bar, there is another building two strides away that serves all kinds of hot dogs and snacks. CONS: The umbrella bar is expensive. Most of the sandwiches/wraps are $ 11 or more. NOTES: It is very easy to get to the Umbrella Bar because(from the base) you only have to take green level runs. If there is any confusion on how to get there or the location, refer to one of the maps of Mount Crested Butte. They are very accurate and informative. *If you have been skiing/snowboarding here in the past, the Umbrella bar and restroom remodel is definitely an upgrade from before!(however I do miss Camp 4 Coffee being here). *Although I am not a local to Crested Butte, I have been coming here during both the summers and winters since 2002.

The Ten Peaks Umbrella Bar is a new restaurant/bar addition to the on-slope amenities at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. It’s really nice to see something with some memorable character besides Uley’s Cabin. The Umbrella Bar is reminiscent of the après-ski bars you’d find in the Alps. There is currently only one German beer on tap, though, and the inside menu has no Bavarian items(I don’t count hard gas-station pretzel sticks as Bavarian). Oddly, there is a self-serve snack bar counter outside than does have Bavarian sausages, but you are not allowed to bring them inside the Umbrella bar(the other patrons might get too jealous I guess). Make sure to avoid the so-called fondue at the outside counter — it’s kind of like the nacho cheese you’d get at a ballpark served in a tiny cup. They need more to create a true theme, and not just another replica of the dreaded«Butte 66» restaurant at the base area. Also, some unique music would do and not the mid-70’s rock they are currently playing. While they currently deserve 2 stars, I gave them 4 stars for effort and exceptional views. Plus, the staff was pretty attentive.
