Pretty darn good BBQ. Go early and ask for sliced off the fat end. It’s almost a 4 star, but I’m very reserved when it comes to dealing out the stars. Go… Enjoy!

Absolutely, hands down some of the BEST bbq in Texas. We eat here most days that we spend at motor sport ranch and I’ve never had meal here that was anything less than excellent!

I’ve been here twice and have gotten the chicken and mozzarella with chipotle mayo on a jalapeño bun both times. It is FREAKINGAWESOME! Only due to the niceness of those I’ve come with have I tasted the BBQ which is also awesome. With at least 5 bbqs to pick from in a 10 mile radius this is the best. More only complaint is it could be cheaper but you get what you pay for here

ribs — outstanding, nice sweet and savory rub, not overcooked, perfect brisket-got the flat and some point, nice bark and very moist nice folks– really have no criticism, nice alternatives to straight up bbq as well, the smoked turkey sandwich looks unbelievable I drive by here on my way to the deer lease a few times a year and will stop everytime

First of all let me say that I’m a self proclaimed barbecue connoisseur. I’m not paid by any magazine, news paper or group of restaurants. I’m independent. The only person who cares what I think about anything is me. However if you really want to know if a place has good barbecue or not before you go, email me, I’ll try it and tell you the truth. I first read about this place in a small article in D Magazine which talked about how good the brisket was. Since I live in Plano, it was quite a drive, well over an hour. No problem, I just purchased a new car and needed to put it on the road. To my surprise, I was not disappointed. I tried every piece of meat in the place. It was by far the best brisket I’ve ever tasted in my life. It literally melted in my mouth. If you’re not a huge fan of barbecue sauce, now worries here, you don’t need it! The ribs and chicken were spectacular! I talked barbecue with the pit master, discussing some of the top ten joints in Dallas, as well as Franklin’s in Austin. His words were«I’m not afraid of Arron Franklin.» After eating this man’s brisket, he has no reason to be! I can honestly say that this is the best barbecue I’ve ever eaten in my life. I decided to get a few pounds of everything and take back to my folks in Dallas. My dad who’s pushing 76 yrs old, agreed with me. He’s never tasted anything like it. Barbecue on the Brazos is the real deal Holyfield!!! If there any downside to the place, I would have to say it was the sides. They were all unspectacular. On the other hand, I didn’t actually come for the sides. I can do that at home. There are very few places in America that can produce the quality of barbecue that this place can. My top five in Texas 1) Barbecue on the Brazos, Cresson 2) Franlkin’s in Austin 3) Slow Bone, Dallas 4)Pecan Lodge in Dallas 5) Cattleback BBQ, Dallas These are from the list of over 50 places I’ve tried throughout Texas. If you can recommend other good places, please email me so I can try them.

We heard this place was great and worth the drive from Dallas so we did exactly that. We threw the dogs in the car and drove an hour to get there around 11 am. We called ahead and they said we could have dogs on the patio just that we’d have to come through the back which is an upstairs patio. We got there and went upstairs to the patio. It has a great big table and you can smell the leftover cooking smells as you walk up. My fiancé stayed with the dogs while I went and ordered. The staff was so cool, friendly and nice. I genuinely enjoyed talking to them. I ordered a sausage plate and a rib plate with Mac n cheese, coleslaw, cornbread salad, and mashed potatoes. They even threw on a side of brisket since we drove all the way from Dallas. Seriously, these were the nicest people. The food was so good, the sides were huge! I regret not just ordering the meat by the pound and just sharing a side or two. The Mac was our favorite app. She did warn me the coleslaw was different and it was but I liked it. The cornbread salad was interesting. I’ve never had anything like it to compare it to so I was glad I tried it. And the mashed potatoes were loaded mashed potatoes. Get them. And the meat… we went all over Nashville trying the best rated bbq and weren’t impressed with anything. This was awesome. Ribs fell of the bone, brisket melted in your mouth and the sausage was that perfect pop of crispy outside juicy on the inside. I’m already wanting more for dinner. Oh and the location. Its attached to a gas station. There is seating downstairs, upstairs and that outside deck. The outside deck is shaded and after we ate, it was too pretty and the breeze felt too good so we shared a beer and stayed a little longer. The chef even came upstairs to check on us and say hello to our dogs. I cannot say enough great things about this place, just go check it out.

If you love BBQ you’ve got to try this place. My husband and I read about it in the Star-Telegram as being one of the best in Fort Worth so we thought we’d try it. We went for lunch on Friday afternoon. The people are very nice and provide excellent customer service. We asked what was best and were told the ribs and brisket so we wanted to try them both. We also ordered the smoked corn which was delicious. My husband had the mashed potatoes and I had the mac and cheese. I thought the mac and cheese was better but the mashed potatoes were delicious as well. They also sell beer. We will definitely be back!

A small place but packed with flavor! I, for one am tired of the chain barbecue places, it seems like they all taste alike. The beef here is tender and the sauce is sweet. The potato salad and cold slaw are Ho-hum, but the corn bread salad is great. I was too full to try the desserts, but that gives me a chance to go back.

Great BBQ and the ribs are so freaking awesome but I just tried the«trash» plate and it’s awesome, my only complaint is the cheese sauce is plain if they could step up the cheese sauce a bit then it would be one of the greatest plates on earth

If you are in Cresson or out at the Motorsports Ranch you must stop here. I went in to the gas station to get chips but the smell of smoked bbq at 8 am filled my nostrils and I could not resist. The people are nice and I had excellent customer service. The brisket was juicy and seasoned well. Their breakfast tacos are huge! I wanted to try everything in the menu. They even have bbq bologna!!! If you are looking for sweets the have cobblers too. They open at 6:30am for the early birds.

I had passed by this place many times and never stopped, today a buddy told me we needed to give it a try. Well this was one of the best suggestions ever this was definitely one of the best if not he best servings of BBQ brisket I have ever had. I am not what some people call a BBQ purist and I typically eat even my brisket with sauce. This brisket did not need sauce although adding some add another level of flavor to this nearly perfect creation. I also had the sausage and some potato salad both were delicious. I will definitely never just pass by again, at least if they are open. Any of the other reviewers who claim this is not good BBQ either have no clue what they are talking about or very unfortunately visited on a bad day. I would highly recommend to anyone.

54 year old, native Texan… travel the state for a living. You can imagine how many BBQ joints I’ve tried… probably a thousand! This place is NOT my favorite. That spot belongs to The Salt Lick, south of Austin. But BBQ on the Brazos is easily #2. I’ve had the pulled pork, the brisket, smoked chicken and turkey, and the sausage and ribs… never been disappointed. Yes, it’s a hole-in-the-wall, gas station BBQ joint, so that’s part of the fun! Most of the side dishes are average, at best, but who eats BBQ at a place because they’ve got really good coleslaw or potato salad? Just order a sandwich and a coke… you’ll have all you need, and no reason to complain about the blandness of the pinto beans. Or order a sliced brisket plate with two sides of cornbread salad… because that shit is amazing! And you will have just enjoyed the best brisket in the known universe! (You’re welcome!)

I’m not typically a turkey meat eater because it hardly counts as meat, but this smoked turkey hit the spot. It was a recommendation of theirs and I was pleasantly surprised. They have a good variation for sides. I got green beans and fried okra; The fried okra was crunchy with a flavorful coating and they give you a lot of it. Don’t be afraid to go a bit out of your way to try it.

We stopped here on our way to fossil rim after hearing about it on College Game Day. Once we figured out that it’s in Cresson and not Granbury we found some of the best BBQ around DFW! After reading the other reviews, I had the sliced brisket and it did not disappoint! It was melt in your mouth tender and the taste was amazing. The owner have me samples of the sausage and ribs on the side and they were equally awesome. My daughter had«Trash» which is brisket nachos. They were very kind and made a child sized portion for her with cheese & brisket only. She loved it and every bite! This will definitely be a stop for now on whenever we are down this way. We have to come back at some point for the breakfast tacos and dessert! Don’t let the location inside a Texaco fool you, this is one of the best places you’ll eat around here! Kudos to the owners as well– they were very kind and went out of their way to make us feel welcome!

You will be tempted to order things like pork ribs turkey and sausage… but that would be a great crime. What you need to do is order the brisket, order a lot of it and sit back and enjoy.

I love this place. I don’t go often for lunch but try to go at least once a month on Saturday mornings for the breakfast tacos. Perfectly-smoked brisket, scrambled eggs and cheese on a homemade flour tortilla with some surprisingly spicy salsa on the side is the best way to wake up, even if you have to drive 30 minutes to get it. I’ve also had tacos with rib meat and tacos with bacon, but for my money it’s brisket every time.

After having been back a handful of times, I think everything I said in my previous review was accurate, most notably the observation that your experience might vary from visit to visit. In other words, my first visit wasn’t nearly as good as it’s been in repeated visits. The first visit wasn’t what I would call exceptional, but repeated visits have been. I’ve learned recently that in barbecue places, your preferences should really just go out the door when you walk in theirs — there are just some things that some places do well and know that they do well. So don’t leave here without getting the brisket and ribs(they might even congratulate you for having chosen so wisely), and then the banana pudding if you can fit anything else in.
