This place would have been overrated at 1.5 stars. Service was slow and there was only one other table in the joint taken. The first batch of chips, when it finally came out after 20 minutes was old chips and they were cold. Second round of chips were warn and fresh… er. All three of us got the chimichanga… don’t make the same mistake… well the real mistake would be going there after reading this review. DON’T GO

We are new to the area and wanted something other than pizza. The reviews led us to Los Pinos and knew what to expect when we arrived. It’s outdated décor and small dining area was no big deal since it appeared clean. Very hole in the wall establishment. We ordered tacos and a chicken taco salad. Both were very good and fresh. My husband kept commenting on how well the steak was seasoned. The complementary chips and salsa are homemade and very tasty. The only complaint was that we didn’t get a water refill. Reasonably priced and we will certainly be back for takeout since eating out isn’t really our thing.

Great authentic Mexican and some of the best buffalo wings! The atmosphere isn’t the greatest but the food will leave you wanting more. Service was good and attentive.

OK, up until recently I believed Authentic Mexican Tacos were the hard tortilla and contained lettuce, tomato, etc. After knowing otherwise I mainly eat authentic Mexican tacos… Soft tortillas, onion and cilantro. I ordered 3 chicken and my goddaughter ordered spicy steaks. I’m in no way a Mexican food authority, but they were the best authentic Mexican tacos I’ve had. Perfect to cap a perfect day at Six Flags.

Ordered tacos and chicken was dry. Otherwise ok. Go with something more elaborate as the basics were bland.

I’m really sad to say that this restaurant that has always been wonderful and quick proved a disappointment. They took over an hour to bring out our food while every table with just as many people and similar meals were served long before us. The waitresses were not helpful and did not apologize for the inconvenience. When they gave us our bill, they added an extra meal that we didn’t order and were slow to fix the problem. Don’t waste 2 hours here

Food here is amazing! Fresh ingredients, made to order. Delicious! You must overlook the lack of decorating. The food is worth it. The only real problem is the waitress vacillate s between disinterest and slight annoyance. Hope she gets happier!

Terrible service!!! After having a terrific evening at SixFlags my family and I decided to go to this place. It was a total fiasco. The food was horrible, service was even worsen and it was very pricy for the type of food. Do not order Gacamole and chips. Terrible taste and a very tiny portion for $ 8.00. Very bad.

Good food, atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired. I got the shrimp burrito(shrimp was dry but everything else was good). Boyfriend got the burrito al pastor and that was tasty. They didn’t have any guacamole to serve :( A little expensive for the quality. But good to stop at after six flags!

Holy delicious. Super authentic, super fresh, super great. Both Los Pinos Pollo & Steak Mexicana with rice was incredible, their tortillas are made from scratch daily and you can totally taste the result in their dishes. Highly recommended & modest price!

My friend and I have dined here a few times and the food has been good and the service fine. However, we had a terrible experience recently and will not be returning. The food is indeed good, but not worth dealing with the terrible service in the restaurant. Upon arrival, we stood at the front for several minutes waiting for someone to seat us. Several staff walked right by us, but it was a few minutes before anyone acknowledged us. We waited approximately 45 minutes between the time our food was ordered, and when it came out(no one came by during this time to see if we needed refills on our drinks, which we did). While we were waiting for the food, we noticed that it took the staff at least 15 minutes to clear the dirty dishes off of the other tables after customers had left. They would come out, take two glasses, go back in the kitchen, come out again, take the chip basket, go back in the kitchen, then come back out 10 minutes later and clear off the dirty plates(there were flies in the restaurant, this was probably contributing to the problem!). Meanwhile, staff are sitting at tables playing on their phones and/or wandering around looking clueless. When our plates were cleared, no one came out to give us the check. We sat for at least 10 minutes(again, while a staff member was sitting at another table playing with her phone). We finally just walked up to the front to pay our bill. The apathy is palpable at Los Pinos, and we will never be going back.

This place was a great find thanks to Unilocal. It is not the Four Seasons, but what it lacks in ambiance, it makes it up in it’s character. The food was great and my kids loved it too. People who bad mouth this place are spoiled and jaded. I love finding restaurants like these; a diamond in the rough. I will be back!

Best tacos I have had in NJ. It’s hard to find good authentic Mexican and this takes the cake. I highly recommend tacos de arabes if you like spicy food. Great prices and awesome food.

Bland bland bland. Skip this place. Pork wasn’t fatty and portions were large. But food was sub par for even the cheap $ 10 bill.

Los Pinos(note the«s», Unilocal has the wrong spelling) is a solid, OK, Mexican restaurant in the middle of NJ. It’s several steps above Taco Bell, but certainly not a destination spot. The décor is plain, the roof low, and the surroundings, a strip mall near Six Flags. Inside, Los Pinos is clean, not too noisy, and the tables and booths are not overly crowded together. I had a ground beef burrito and my wife had the steak burrito. Both were adequate, but nothing to write home about. Not too greasy, a reasonable size, and the seasoning was mild, but OK. The best part of both was the floor tortilla wrapper. They were perfectly fresh, had a good resiliency, and a pronounced, wheat flavor. The accompanying refried beans and yellow rice were standard, but again, nothing out of the ordinary. Lunch was preceeded with a complimentary bowl of chips and salsa. The chips were warm, crisp, and by far, the best part of the meal. The salsa was let down – thin, little flavor other than cilantro, and no heat at all. Speaking of cilantro, the folks in the kitchen must really love it, as it was in EVERYTHING, and in large quantities. I don’t mind the taste, but if you are not a fan, you may want to ask for them to cut back by a couple of handfuls. Overall, not great, but certainly not bad. We’ll go back.

This restaurant is just 5 minutes away from Six Flags Great Adventure. It’s located on a little strip mall right off of Rte 537. It’s your typical«hole in the wall» kind of place, but the food is amazing! This is not your fancy eat-in type of place. It’s a little bit run-down, and could use a little improvement. But it’s «run-down» look brings it a lot of character. I’ve been to Tiajuana Mexico 18 years ago, and when I walked in to this restaurant, I felt like I was transported right into that little eatery I visited in Mexico. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Service was good, but not great. But, this whole place was hopping by 9:30pm. There were 2 servers, both juggling the customers inside and outside the restaurant. Salsa and chips were served after our order was taken. The salsa tasted homemade. You can taste the freshness of the tomato and the cilantro with every bite. Now, you’ll need to be a little patient waiting for your food. But once it’s brought out, it was well worth the wait. I ordered the Pollo Mexicana(Chicken sauteed with tomatoes, peppers and onions), $ 12.95. Hubby ordered the Carne Asada(Beef Steak), $ 14.95. The kids shared the Chicken Fingers with fries(American style), and Cheese Quesadilla.(I had tried to take a photo of the Cheese Quesadilla, but my kids demolished it before I could get my phone out). It was served in slices, with a small fresh chopped salad on the side. It looked really appealing to the eyes, and my son raved about it. Our dishes was exceptional. It was as authentic as can be. Food tends to bring you back to places you’ve been to, and memories that went along with it. The chicken was thin, but tender and flavorful. The refried beans and rice were fresh, and did not taste like it came out of a can. As for hubby’s Carne Asada; when asked«How was it?» All he could say was«Good! Good!» with a mouthful of food. They would get 5 stars from me, had the servers been a little friendlier. But if there was a separate rating just for food, they would certainly get 5 stars from me. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who might be in the mood for Authentic Mexican dishes when they get out of Great Adventure for lunch or dinner. Note: Unilocal has this listed as Los Pino, but the sign and the business card says«Los Pinos.» This might make a difference when you Google the restaurant sometime in the future.

This is likely the best Mexican food we’ve had in New Jersey, and we’ve been trying. The name is actually«Los Pinos», and is in the same strip mall-like restaurant row as Vince’s Bar & Grill, Hawaiian Shaved Ice, and Chicken Holiday. We stopped for lunch after rides at Six Flags Great Adventure(it’s on the opposite side of the highway just prior to the entrance). After walking in, we were immediately directed to choose any table; menus were brought over quickly, as was water and chips. El Yucateco and El Tapatio were on the table, a very good sign. Huge menu, and on our return I plan to get the Coctel de Cameron, which someone outside ordered(and looked fantastic). We ordered 4 tacos(a la carte, $ 2 each; they were out of tamales) and guacamole. The chips were good, real Mexican chips; crisp without being greasy or oversized. The salsa was fresh but thin, with a flavour almost reminiscent of dill. I added some hot sauce to this to burn my tongue appropriately. Tinga: Marinated chicken w/grilled onions & beans; well seasoned Carnitas: a little salty, but perfect with the addition of fresh lime Carne asada: mild but well seasoned; we would have liked it more charred Chorizo: perfect Guacamole: served in its own halves and the best we’ve had recently(almost as good as mine). There’s an old upright piano and gameroom in the back(why Streetfighter is a pinball machine is beyond me, but if you’re interested in killing terrorists, there’s a game for that too). I wouldn’t bring beer or wine here, as it’s really a place to eat and relax; for drinking you’re directed to Vince’s. The food was incredible, service effective and with a smile, and we will definitely be back. If we need a push to get some use out of our season passes, we need only to remind ourselves that great tacos would be the added bonus. $ 15 including tax, before tip open 7 days a week Update 9÷28÷09: We stopped back after a return visit to Wild Safari(I’ve decided I love the place). This time we limited ourselves to tacos: arabes(oregano charred beef – excellent), al pastor(with chunks of pineapple; a tad too sweet and salty); chorizo(perfect with a squeeze of lime). A great little place. Update 11÷1÷09: great service and food, albeit a bit salty again. The arabes taco remains my favourite, suadero and chorizo Jim’s.
