Great little hardware store. Helpful, knowledgeable staff and convenient hours.

For Small Business Saturday, I submit this review about the best place to get keys cut, expert advice on your home projects and repairs, and that warm fuzzy feeling of a good old fashioned hardware store. My husband and I bought a television where the screws didn’t fit properly into the base. We went to the best place in my old neighborhood to get the problem fixed: Durfee’s Hardware. Durfee’s has the feel of a simpler time, a throwback to when people took the time to ensure good service. The employees of Durfees exemplify integrity and pride in their work. I remember as a kid going to get keys made by Mr. Durfee himself with his trademark bow tie. He has since passed on, but the charm of his hardware store lives on. For our television woes, a nice young man on the second floor straightened out our problem skillfully and with a smile. He took the time to chat about the holidays and wished us a happy Thanksgiving. Home Depot and the like are fine, but they don’t have the helpful staff with such experience and wisdom of a family owned hardware store like Durfee’s.
