I hate to be overly judgmental, and I realize that this is a fairly casual facility. However, the service was really terrible on the day that we went. It’s almost like they’re didn’t have nearly enough staff to serve the people that were there. While or server was very delightful and friendly the entire evening — everything took a really long time and frankly the quality of the food was not all that good. It’s an interesting place, and the feeling is sort of afternoon after high school feeling. I guess if I were younger and had less options available this would be a really great place to go and maybe study to get a Coke or something.

Just too slow. Small portions and very very slow service. Server offered a discount after becoming so embarrassed about the time it took. Once the food did arrive, it was wrong: cheese on top when we asked for no cheese on top, that sort of thing. Great location with great potential but just not Good enough.

Cute spot on the Square, best if you have a lot of time for a leisurely pace. Came here at noon with my kids. After ordering drinks(soda) I was asked if I planned to stay to dine in… ummm yes of course! We enjoyed: chicken salad sandwich w/vegetable soup. The soup was very tomatoey, sharp but good. Classic burger w/salad. BLT(with crispy bacon) & loaded potato salad. It was all good!

My fiancé and I are in Covington visiting family and we are from NH, we have stopped at square perk every morning for coffee(a few times breakfast as well). The customer service is alone enough to rate this place 5 stars, the lady at the coffee counter has been there each morning and she is friendly and attentive. The coffee menu is huge and they can pretty much make anything! Also the food is great! We highly recommend this place.

What an adorable little spot for coffee and more. It is so cute inside and many places to sit and be comfortable. My coffee was delish and expertly made. Stop by and sit for a while.

I really love the food and coffee, but It takes a long time to get either. Make sure you have time to sit and chat with friends while you’re waiting.

Definitely my favorite coffee shop in the area. They have a small town coffee shop feeling, with friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. They offer free wifi, which is great for my studies and workload. The seating arrangements are very cozy. I go here to grab a cup of coffee and study or take advantage of the wifi. I’m not very impressed with their food options, but the cupboard is certainly not bare. The options in Covington aren’t plentiful anyway, so if you need a convenient place to eat in town, they’ll do. The staff here is very accommodating. They don’t offer steamed milk on the menu, which is my go to drink when I’ve already had my daily cup of coffee, but the waitress(I believe her name is Melody) was willing to make it for me. They also have honey, which is a must for me. I’ll be coming back often! See you there!

Only a good place to go if you want coffee. It has the worst food I have ever eaten. I tried the place a couple of times to make sure and the food gets worse every time.

Bread bowls are great, or just pick any of there soups and ask for it in a bread bowl and you can’t go wrong. they have a kids play area in the back so you can meet friends and talk without having your 3 year old ask 100 questions!

I’ve eaten here many times and never disappointed! Chicken bread bowl, breakfast burrito, mocha latte, all delicious! Service and prices are really good and the owner is super nice. Plus, the view of the square is amazing

Small portions but really good. Low prices and a really nice waitress. You definitely get your money’s worth. The drip coffee was actually really good.

It’s ain’t about the money y’all I thought a few years ago the ventilation in this place would has to be a code violation, you think. If you don’t mind smelling like a greasy spoon restaurant all in your cloths and hair… the foods and lattes are not that easy 3 maybe 4 if the owner would think of the workers first, forcing them to endure a sad ventilated work sure they suffer nasal congestions. Then the customer that choose to go elsewhere unless they change cloths they don’t mind cleaning out the garage in… cheap, sad and inconsiderate, I’m convinced after all these years, it’s not about the employees, customers or the $$$$ to endure a very bad ventilated restaurant… one thing for sure, you eat or drink coffee here. its like leaving a cigar bar or smoke a cigarette everyone knows where you’ve been. just saying… all the money lost over not investing in proper restaurant ventilation.

We stopped in Covington while on a work trip down south. We wanted to visit some historic towns and practice more photography and we couldn’t have asked for a better town AND coffee shop. Gina is responsible for the best coffee I’ve had in years and I cant recommend this place enough. If you are like me and have been looking for a good cup of coffee after way too many let downs, give this place a try. Gina and Nikki are the best. They cater to anyone including vegans and vegetarians and have some really tasty almond milk. They use local coffee and offer many types of food for any meal and I can recommend the breakfast oatmeal. We have already went twice and plan to go more while we are here.

Not a frequent attendee, but I have been 4 or 5 times. The coffee is more of a main stream blend and nothing very special. They seem to brew their coffee rather light which with medium grade coffee just makes the brew taste less than good hence the three stars. The environment, service, and care of the staff is really good but if you want to be a coffee shop then good coffee is imperative.

I Love Square Perks, I stop by when near the square to get a Covington Cooler Caramel. Nice coffee shop! Never sat inside or ordered food, I just pop in & out. The Covington Cooler is a float, a frap, mixed with some coffee and caramel. I know it sounds strange but don’t knock it until you try it out first. I’m not a coffee fan at all but I love this drink. I’ve also had the Pretzel Caramel, it’s another one of my faves. If you’re in the area stop by and give it a try.

Great service and great food! Will definitely be back often. They have a great selection on the menus. It seems sad if it was a great little local place.

If you want a good lunch on the square stop here! Triple cheese and bacon with loaded potato salad and a café au lait to drink. Service was great! Atmosphere is good for a lunch meeting. Will definitely return.

Got a latte to go. Service was prompt. Latte was decent. I was really happy to see that they serve Jittery Joe’s coffee created in Athens, GA! I haven’t had Jittery Joe’s in years and I’m glad I can get a taste of my Alma Mater right here in Covington. They had several cakes and cookies on display. There is a breakfast and café menu that I browsed. I’ll have to check it out another time. There is a lot of seating, and it’s much bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside.

Wonderful established location. How could one mess this up, you might ask… well… Overpriced, not good value for the money The cappuccinos were prepared incorrectly. Though I have gone back several times, theybget it wrong every time — scalding the milk, etc. When you hire all teenagers and fail to train, instead of hiring professionals, that’s what you get. The food was GROSS. I paid over $ 11 for a roast beef wrap. The roast beef was thick and gray. The least they could do was purchase high quality, correctly cooked(like Boars Head or D & W) and correctly sliced cold cuts to prepare a sandwich. The fries were good The hot chocolate is great(hence the 2 stars) Incidentally, rent on the Square is expensive for a business… I know this. Things can be hard, and I totally get it. That said, if you don’t have a kitchen to make/cook food but you also don’t care enough to at least purchase quality ingredients to just make a sandwich? Stop offering the food. Do everyone a favor. Because it’s gross. Especially because you think it’s worth $ 11.00.

Smooth coffee served by nice people in a comfy setting, suitable for work or play on the square in small town America. What more could you ask for? This Independent café is part coffee shop, part diner, part hipster hangout, part stay at home mommy get away place and all around good place to chill out. Come in here to do some work leveraging the free wi-fi, take your pick of seating arraignments(counter, comfy couches, bar stool, diner table or round tables). They even have a kid’s area, where you can sip your coffee while overlooking your playing toddler on the seats surrounding the enclosed child section. Enjoy the contemporary Christian music over the speakers while you munch of a variety of tasty menu options. Their cappuccinos are delicious and smooth with not even a hint of burnt bitterness made popular by a particular large chain coffee shop. What a great find! If you enjoy independent, locally owned businesses check this place out. Plan to chill for a bit, it’ll be fun.
