The wings lived up to the hype and this was a fun and friendly sports bar. Definitely had to use the GPS but it’s obvious most don’t as the place was packed. Would like to venture back some time when we make it out to CB.

Went here with some colleagues while visiting the great CB. This joint looks like your typical strip mall bar — situated, as it is, next to an insurance agent and a nail salon. When you walk in, you wont be disappointed, it’s chock full of locals, swilling cheap American pilsner at a mix of four-tops and hi-tables. It’s casual, you pick your own seat, and peruse the menu left between the condiments. If you’re here for a game, they have plenty of televisions! My friends ordered a couple of standard items that immediately escaped my mind and, to be honest, got few remarks from them either before, during or after they were consumed. I, on the other hand, went for what are sure to get the«world» designation one day — that is the«World» Famous Charbuff Wings. They warn you up front that it will take twenty minutes or more to cook, but that seems reasonable for someone preparing you fresh honest food. The wings are sold by the dozen without sides, you probably don’t need the fries — they aren’t that great. The wings, on the other hand, are fantastic! They are generously sized chicken wings with a delicious and flavorful perfect spicy coating. You can get them in various degrees of hotter if you like to do that sort of thing, but spicy was just fine. They are grilled, and the amazing buttery flavor is complimented by the smoke and fire taste. The grill work comes through with nice little marks that become savory treasures for your taste buds. The wings are are crispy and perfectly delectable and can be highly recommend!

The parking lot was packed. Glad we drove around to the back. Found a spot right away. We stopped in here for a beer before a movie. There was plenty if seating, although most were full. Everyone seemed to be having a great time! Lots of big screen tv’s. Pool tables and other games gives you plenty to do here. The music was just right. We were offered a menu and ordered our drinks with in minutes of arriving. Service was fast and very friendly. Although we did not eat this time, the menu was pretty standard bar food. Very reasonably priced and from the looks of everyone around us who was eating, plentiful. We will be back soon to try it out. There were a couple people with smaller kids. It looked to be pretty family friendly too. Something for everyone for sure! The wings look great. Can’ t wait to try. Don’t pass this up! Plenty of parking to the rear of the building. We most definatly will be back!

Our first experience eating at The Salty Dog was Christmas. It was the only place open so we took our chances and ate there. My spouse got the prime rib, and to our surprise it was honestly the best we’ve ever had. Since then we have eaten there on 4 other occasions. Just thought I would send an email that the food is amazing we’ve not had any disappointment whatsoever. The staff was wonderful as well. They were constantly at our table & provided excellent service. We will definitely be long time customers!

I love the open layout, GREAT food even if it’s not on special it’s still a great price! The drink special are great too, but not as great at the service! Jessica served us last time and she was funny sweet and remember our order without writing it down! She cared about her customers and I can tell everyone works there is like family! I need to go back soon.

I was referred to the Salty Dog by some friends. Good place to relax and enjoy yourself. There are two pool tables. The food is very good. The wings are excellent, better than other bars who just top wings with Tabasco. Wide range of drinks to select from.

Pulling into the parking lot we saw this was a popular spot, as the lot was completely packed! There are other businesses next to the bar, however. After making 2 loops we decided to drive around back & found additional parking. A sign would’ve been nice for additional parking behind the bar. I’m pretty sure we received our drinks faster than any other restaurant we’ve been to! Service after that was a little slower. They were very busy in their defense, perhaps another hire would be better for the busy weekends? Started with the gizzards– seasoned & delicious in my book. Served with a side of ranch, I’m use to horseradish but didn’t request. The ranch was good, might be made in house? We already knew what we wanted to order prior to visiting, via website. Boyfriend is a sucker for prime rib so that was his choice, I went for the charbuf wings(tossed in buffalo sauce). Starting with the prime rib, cooked to order, loved the spice of their au jus. Potatoes had a great taste & creamy texture. Toast– meh, nothing to brag, could’ve kept that off the plate. The charbuf wings, great spin on wings! Never had wings finished on the grill. And these ain’t no baby wings, 12 is more than enough(We could’ve split these between the 2 of us)!! Overall the food is one of kind, not you typical bar food! I recommend!

Charbuff Wings. Easily the best wings I have ever eaten. Can’t tell if they were home made or not, but the pizza rolls were good too.

I am really only reviewing the wings because that’s all I had but I have to say that they were maybe the best wings I’ve had in the Omaha area, big, perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The bar seemed like a good place that was well run and hopefully I’ll make it back for another visit. Good experience overall and holy shit were those wings good.

Tried the hand breaded pork tenderloin with havarti cheese, tomato jam, ham, pickled onions and siracha aioli, on a wheat berry bun and it was off the charts! The staff here is amazing and the food quality is lights out. I look forward to the new specials every week, always something outside the box. Check out Salty Dog for a change of pace, or if you want the best wings in town! Salty Dog never disappoints.

Pulling into the parking lot I was a little thrown off(wasn’t expecting it to be in a strip mall) but walking in the waitress had menus down right away and she was never polite. The wings are really good as well but the prime rib philly was amazing the meat was fantastic and the bread was soft. The only thing I can say was I wish my wings had more sauce on them but that’s probably more my fault for not asking ;). Really did like this place.

Most amazing char wings I’ve had in a long time! Juicy, large, and mostly wing spicy experience that must be repeated soon! Love the ghost pepper! Great taste with an addictive hotness! I like that the jalapeño poppers give me a cool down! Love it to the fullest!

9A small dive bar located in a mini strip mall. Great place for lunch and some fat boy food as I like to call it. I went with the char buff wings and fried pickle spears with a side of blue cheese and buffalo sauce to dip(excellent buffalo) washed it down with a freshly squeezed ipa beer and a shot of John Powers whiskey. Jordan behind the bar was great and my new buddy Brett sitting near by bought me a shot. Good spot for a lunch break.

Awesome food for decent money. Lot of screens with sport events. I would definitely recommend this place. Cons: Staff could check on you more often.

After repeatedly hearing how good the wings are here, I finally had a chance to try them out. I must say they are very good. I don’t know if they are my favorite in town, but they come in probably at #2, and they alone are worth a return trip. Without Unilocal(and Matt M’s) recommendations I don’t think I would have ever found this place or thought about going in. It sits past some truck stops in a somewhat industrial area of Council Bluffs in an unassuming small strip mall. This is a basic looking bar, with quite a few TVs to watch your favorite game. The staff was very friendly and had no problem taking care of a group of 8 of us. A slight snafu with the separate checks at the end, but it was quickly remedied. Overall this place seemed like a good place to grab a drink and watch the game or meet up with some friends for a bite to eat. Friendly atmosphere and they want you to feel welcome.

After perusing the photos for Salty Dog Bar and Grill, I HAD to give it a try. We went during a NFL game so it was really busy, even though I thought we would be there after the dinner rush. The parking lot is an OK size, but I feel like it would fill up quickly on game days. I was lucky to snag a spot after someone left – I had already circled around once. We ordered the crowd favorite charred wings– which were excellent. The 20 min(or in our case 30 min) wait was well worth it– they had a substantial amount of meat on the bone, they werent dry, the skin was crispy, and the flavoring was beyond awesome. We also did a order of fish and chips with onion rings(the fish was meh) and I got the standard cheeseburger, which I thought was the above average bar burger. It was really smoky in there(from the food not cigs) very loud, and overall a very excitable crowd for the games. Def a fun place to check out if your favorite team is playing, but dont expect a quiet meal or date.

I have been hearing about Salty Dog’s wings for months so I finally broke down and went there with a few friends this past Friday. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in to see a really nice bar, nice TV’s all around, and to see it so clean. We walked in and sat at a table and the super nice red-haired bar tender/sever came over and told us the happy hour drink specials so one of my friends and I got a pitcher of Angry Orchard for $ 9, not bad at all. I ordered char-buff wings with half spicy buffalo and half buffaque,(buffalo and bbq mixed). The wings are $ 1 a piece so we were hoping they’d be awesome. It says that the Char-Buff wings takes around 20 minutes to come out, but we were completely fine with that. Our food came out in about 20 minutes, as originally stated. The wings were pretty good. I didn’t get that char-buff flavor a whole lot that I thought I was going to get. And some of the wings didn’t look like it had hardly any char-buff on them at all, so the wings were a tad disappointing. The Spicy Buffalo wings were a tad dry on the outside and it hardly had any sauce on them, but the buffaque wings were pretty good. All in all, the wings were good, but a little disappointing. I will probably give them another chance as I really do want to like the wings here.

I thought we’d pretty much have the place to ourselves, since it was really too late for lunch and too early for dinner when we arrived. Gosh was I wrong, it was packed. We ordered the shrimp scampi, charbuff wings and burgers all around. The scampi was delicious, flavorful with lots of garlic and cheese. Oh and it was served with dinner rolls which were perfect to dip into the garlic cheese sauce. The charbuff wings were charred to delicious perfection and were served with homemade dressing. We tried both ranch and blue cheese. Let me tell ya, homemade sauce makes a huge flavor difference –both were fresh and very tasty! Our burgers were also good, but I will admit I loved the appetizers more than the burger. I was pleased to be able to order real cheddar cheese on my burger. The kid’s meals consisted of two slider size burgers and they loved them, although they weren’t fans of the smiley fries. Server guy was awesome and genuinely friendly. I really enjoyed my meal and will definitely go back again and again!

Went on a Sunday they were very busy. I noticed that each day they have a deal… $ 3 cheeseburgers etc Sunday was all day happy hour on drinks. I ordered the bbq bacon cheeseburger. About a 4 star. Very good but not the best. Shrimp scampi… very good and unexpected item for a bar. Seasoned really well. Nooooooww… the chargrilled wings were beyonnnnnnnnnddddddddddd delicious! Omg. The best wings that I’ve tasted in my life… and I am a huge wing fan. Ranch and blue cheese dressing/sauce are homemade and excellent. The waiter said everything is homemade here. Service was great. They messed up on a couple minor things but fixed them. The guy who served and was also the bartender… was extremely nice. I was a little leary about bringing my kids… but it was not a bad environment… just a mom and pops buffalo wild wings kinda place.
