You get what you pay for. Cigarette burns in the bedding, although the rooms are non smoking. The cable and internet were out, cable service was restored in the evening, but no such luck with the internet. Bathtub did not drain well so we had to stand in water while showering. Breakfast had many options, but we had only bread, cereal, and oatmeal available when we were there. Staff was also calling no show staff from the lobby in front of guests. All in all, not a very pleasant stay!

We’re on the night shift in Coudersport, up in God’s country in PA. Prepare to do your penance, there is no comfort here. After checking in we go to work. Working all night after driving to this place, we’re near to passing out when we get back to the hotel. As I wnter the room, I notice there are no ‘Do Not Disturb’ signs. As I’m barely concious I let this go and fall onto the bed to sleep. After way too little sleep I’m startled awake by the world’s loudest vacuum. It’s not even ten, so I’ve been out about 3 hours. That’s when I realize I’m too stiff to move. My bed is harder than concrete. I’m being literal, here, I slept more comfortably on a concrete slab in Albania than on this bed. The vacuum shuts off, and through the ringing in my ears I hear a faint voice ask about housekeeping. In some surly tongue I barely recognize as my own I growl about the lack of do no disturb signs. I move to the recliner at this point and pass out from exhaustion again. I can’t sleep here, so it’s back to the stone pallet. I awake several hours later, ribs and joints aching. We ask about local eateries, but the staff doesn’t seem to communicate with the prisoners. We’ll have to venture forth while we’re furloughed, if only for the comfort of our van seats or a nice bench in a diner…

Not a bad hotel. Could use some renovations. Simple room. Older heating/cooling system under the window. Could use working fans in the bathroom! Overall just above average for coudersport

I grew up in nearby Port Allegany and know better than to expect 4 star quality from one of the area hotels. However, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with Westgate Inn and I will likely stay there again. Pros: 1. The rooms are HUGE. Our first floor king had enough space for a table AND recliner. 2. Price. While it’s a little more expensive than some of the other places, it was certainly well below what I’m accustomed to seeing elsewhere. 3. Free WiFi. Later in the day, as more people had checked in, the speeds got a little bogged down, but we were on vacation and didn’t care to spend a good deal of time on our phones/laptops anyway. 4. Complementary breakfast. It’s not much, but being able to grab a coffee, muffin and a few pieces of fruit to start the day goes a long way. Cons: 1. They do provide soap, but no shampoo or conditioner. Luckily, my girlfriend always carries travel sizes with her, so it wasn’t a big deal. 2. Mattress was a little worn. It wasn’t so bad that it was uncomfortable, but we definitely noticed that it sagged slightly on both sides. 3. No online reservation. This wasn’t a surprise to me, considering where it’s located, but could be a big deal for some.

Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Nothing too fancy really. Wifi works. That’s a plus. Does not take reservations online. Paper receipts and confirmations work wonderfully well… but don’t expect an email reminder if you’re reliant on your smartphone for life.
