We love coming to this Mimi’s specifically for one waiter, Jason! He’s always so kind. From the first time we came he made us feel like he’s known us forever. My boyfriend is a very picky eater and he took the time to help his modify his meal to what he wanted. He always goes above and beyond. His section is always so full, but he never forgets about a table. We love the food at Mimi’s but we love it even more because of Jason. If you go, ask for Jason. He works after 6.

First time going here and also the last! I’ve been to many Mimi’s Café around California… however this is the least favorite one. Came down to Costa Mesa to visit my brother, decided I would treat him to lunch. Two of my friends tagged along to make a table of four. Right away the server asked us what we wanted to drink. However we could tell by the look on her face she didn’t look to pleased to be serving our table. She was an older mid 40s woman, and all of us at the table being no older than 26. It seemed like she didn’t like the younger crew. I’ve always enjoyed the food from Mimi’s Café. This one though, the food was terrible. And I mean terrible. Four entrees and one appetizer and not one person was pleased with their food. Not sure what’s going on with this restaurant or if maybe they were just having a bad day. Well of course our server wasn’t around to pick up the check, the manager noticed we had been waiting awhile. He comes to grab the check from us. We wanted to split the bill. He asks the table are we splitting half and half ” because that would make it easier for us « I was a little surprised that he has just asked me that. Um yeah sure. Let me make your one and only job easier for you. Because you guys can’t keep track of what person got what. Apparently splitting checks are a little more than what this place can handle. I was not pleased with my experience here at all. Our server managed to get through the whole meal without saying anything rude. Which was nice, but you could definitely tell this joint is where the«older» crowd comes to hang! I hope everyone else has better experiences than we did. Will not be back.

Great service from our waiter, Andrew. He was extremely polite, friendly, informed and attentive to our needs! He seems to really enjoy his job, and it shows. I would give 5 star but gave 4 stars only because no vegetarian entrees or soup. However, ordered the Chinese Chicken Salad, without the chicken… was very good!

Great dinner at Mimi’s Café in Costa Mesa. Our waiter Andrew was amazing — took our orders with our requested, specific variations to the menu. Stopped and asked us how our dinner was and if we needed anything — probably 5 – 6 times. The food was delicious, the service was 5-star and then some.

Going downhill Really Really Fast. Not only WAS this one of my Favorite places in OC, but everything used to be consistently good. Now Food is worse than in a bad diner. REALLY salty. Presentation is SLOPPY PLATESDON’T EVENMATCHNOW! And manager asked me how was my Meatloaf when I had the Potroast. On top of that, the bread basket WAS Artisan and now looks like COOKIECUTTERFASTFOOD. I know the restaurant business is competitive but your cost cutting is TAKING U COMPLETELYDOWNHILL. WE’RETAKINGOURLOYALBUSINESSELSEWHERE. Adieu cheapos.

Worst service ever! I’ve been going to this location for 20+ years and the service has progressively gone down hill. If it weren’t the only restaurant my elderly mother likes to dine at i’d never give this place my business again. What a joke!

I just don’t get it. I do but I don’t. Maybe because of the chain and elderly people liking that? Food was ok but on par with maybe a Marie’s? Meh when I’m 80 who knows what I’ll want but to pay that much for average chain food no thanks.

After ordering a turkey take-out dinner at Mimi’s, I don’t think I will EVER cook another Thanksgiving turkey again in my life. We went to Mimi’s the week before Thanksgiving, using the free entre’ coupon that my husband had received for his birthday. On a whim, we asked our wait person about Mimi’s menu for Thanksgiving. The young man had the manager come over and the manager sat down and explained all the details, including the fact that we could come in and order take-out which would include all the traditional items: turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberries, stuffing, and a choice of pie for the most reasonable price of $ 18.95(2015). We decided to go for it! The manager had told us the time of day that they would be less busy, so while I worked on a project at home on Thanksgiving, my husband went to Mimi’s to order 4 turkey dinner take-out servings(We wanted a little extra in case the sizes weren’t as large as we might be used to). Well, here’s the report: For about 2⁄3 or perhaps ½ the cost of buying all the ingredients at Ralph’s for me to make Thanksgiving dinner at home, we had an excellent meal from Mimi’s. The turkey was juicy and delicious and there was both white and dark meat. The mashed potatoes were plentiful, and of course, great. The guys LOVED the sweet potatoes with pecans(a bit too sweet for me, but they were very good nonetheless). Everything else, and there was a lot, including muffin tops and French bread sticks, was excellent as well. However, I have to say that it was when I tried the dressing that I felt for certain that I would NEVER cook again for Thanksgiving. The stuffing/dressing that my mother used to make was always the reason I waited for this holiday. No longer. Maybe it was because I didn’t have to slave in the kitchen or maybe it was because the stuffing from Mimi’s was done just right, but I really did think it was the best dressing I had ever tasted! All in all, this was THE most relaxed Thanksgiving dinner I ever had. We didnn’t have to rack our brains to think about what we will do with all the leftovers either although we did send the 4th serving home with our son, so he had another whole meal the next day. It was very cost effective, I feel, to do Thanksgiving this way, and the enjoyment of the meal enhanced the savings aspect. PS. We did transfer the take-out dinners to China plates and lined up the plastic containers with the remnants for our little dog Scooter. The added bonus of the whole experience was that little Scooter didn’t bother us once during the meal and he ended up sleeping very soundly that night. Thanks to all the staff who made this lovely meal and saved us a lot time and money!

Stood on the patio for 15 minutes waiting for someone to come out and clean a table for us, no such luck. It wasnt busy and a waiter came out and said he would be right back ! We left and went to Denny ! Way cheaper good food and i left happy !

Consistently courteous hosting staff, pleasant décor, pleasant fellow patrons, with steaks cooked just as ordered(peppercorn sauce actually a very pleasant«steak au poivre» sauce), and Ana, server, attentive, very pleasant, and quite professional. This is a very well run restaurant, and such a nice contrast to the noisy restaurants across the street at Triangle Square.

Mimi’s is an excellent venue to host a baby shower. The staff was really friendly and accommodating… and and people loved their luncheon. I recommend their quiche & salad! They even printed up a menu with the baby’s name on it. Later they served the cake we had brought. The table linens looked elegant in white. They opened up their adjacent patio, opening up the space for people to mingle. People told me it was a classy event… I highly recommend Mimi’s!

My fiancé and I split the ham and Swiss crêpe and it was splendid! The service was not unreasonably slow. Fantastic service, our waitress was sincere and very kind!

Fathers Day at 9am. Place is half empty but we still had to wait 10 minutes for a table and then got stuck in a converted patio with a party if 17. Noise is overwhelming. Waitress was nice and took our order quickly. Santa Fe omelette smaller than I remember but still good. Dylan had the smoked salmon Benedict which was very good. Buttermilk Spice muffin excellent as always and serves pipping hot. Too bad too far from home but hopefully they will figure out how to seat people quicker and schedule more servers if that was the problem.

This is a good location — relaxed environment, cute ambiance though a little dated they do a good job keeping it up, wholesome fair that tastes homemade, and even though it appears like there’s no parking, we always manage find a space fairly close. Sign up for the eclub on — they email buy-one-get-one-free coupons for entrees regularly. My favorite meals are on their breakfasts and lunch menus — the quiches, Eggs Benedict and the Cobb Salad are really good. When ordering a salad I always order both HouseBalsamic and BlueCheese dressings on the side for variety. Three of us have been going there for lunch and we buy 1 meal and then I usually share the second meal with my friend since we are cutting down portions for our diet but still want to splurge on something and save money at the same time. This brings the bill down considerably for 3 people and then we can all buy a drink. They don’t charge to split the plate and don’t mind doing it. If you do this I recommend tipping as if the bill is the entire amount prior to discount out of courtesy to the waiter. Last time I shared the fish and chips with my friend(her fav) and I added on a side salad with my two side dressings(I recommend adding the side garden salad is cheap, large portions, fresh, and really tasty. They also serve you a bread basket with french rolls and this delicious bread that tastes like carrot cake without the frosting. I’ve been dining here for over 20 years.

We met some family for breakfast on Sunday at this Mimi’s Café. This was our first visit to this particular location. The guy who seated us I believe was the manager and I wasn’t very impressed with his attitude. He wasn’t welcoming or friendly and I never saw him even crack a smile. Once seated two of us had to wait until after the other half of our party arrived for anything other than the water we had asked for. We beat them by at least 15 minutes and it would have been nice if the server would have at least made eye contact when she was at the next table. I wanted to order a muffin or something and stared at her waiting for her to look our way so I could get her attention, but she avoided that, on purpose I suspect. Once our party arrived we got pretty good service and the food was good.

The good: — you can eat breakfast, if you are so inclined — plenty of tables and space The bad: — service is slow — not the best food in town
