We’re not locals, so we found this place on Unilocal, and we loved it! Small, family owned, the owner and his wife are there to see to all your dining needs. Buffet on the weekends, and at lunchtime. We showed up on Friday night, ordered from the menu. If you like Indian, you’ll love it. If you haven’t tried Indian, live a little. you won’t be sorry. We liked it so much, we went back for the buffet Saturday AND Sunday. We would have gone some more, but we had to go home to California. My favorite was the goat curry. Prices are reasonable, atmosphere a nice casual, and the service wonderful. I can’t wait to go back next year.

I was just at Nirvana Express an hour ago. I usually love this place, and would go there with my friends. I love the chicken masala and the chicken tandoori. Lunch boxes are $ 5.99 each now, and includes a 12oz drink and a couple slices of naan. You can fill up the lunch box as much as it can fit, so I can get a large amount of food in. Today, however, I was GREATLY disappointed. I took a bite of the chicken masala and the sauce was sweet. I tried to mask the sweetness by adding salt, but it was too strong. I’m pretty sure they mixed up the salt with sugar. My high expectations for Nirvana Express has definitely lowered due to this experience. I hope that no one will have to go through this experience again. If it was not because of this one bad experience, I would have given 5 stars, but this has really made me begin to lose faith in this restaurant.

For the price you pay, I’d say Nirvana Express did a good job. They always have two trays of meat dishes, one tray vegetarian and one tray rice ready for you to choose. You don’t wait. You can get whatever you want. So once I filled my box with chicken and no other stuff to make Chicken Tikka Masala myself. The chicken is better than the roast chicken they sell in regular market. So I am happy with Nirvana Express.

I was really excited to see Nirvana open a location in Corvallis, and had great expectations for it. Their curries at the 9th St. location are very fresh and have impressed me in the past, but it was just a little too far from campus. Now at their new location, I must say that the curry they offered when I went recently was just as good; however, their«express» idea doesn’t cut it for me. I guess I didn’t expect such a lonely looking buffet cart. There were two curries(one chicken, one vegetarian), tandoori chicken, and rice. Where’s the naan? The limited selection was very disappointing. They advertise $ 4.99 take-out boxes and I was surprised to find out that it is not even the large size box, but just a half-size box. I was just very let down, when I expected more. In the end I’d rather spend $ 2 – 3 more and walk down to Evergreen for their full-size take out lunch where I can even get mango fruit salad.
