Wonderful service! Nicely paced breakfast, no wait, yummy food. Soooo much better and reliable than Gulf Drive Café which always has a one hour wait plus a lag in food delivery. Best breakfast on the island!

Good simple breakfast food. Good portions, good service clean little place. I would have never stopped here if I hadn’t seen the good Unilocal reviews. It looks dingy from the outside but, inside its old but clean. I will definitely go back!

Really good breakfast! Reasonable pricing! Whenever I travel to the area I make sure to come here. The service is quick and it never takes long because all the servers are helping each other out. I recommend the Belgium waffle and home fries!

Great way to start our spring training trip with my friends. Huge portions and great breakfast eats. I stayed traditional with great eggs and pancakes but my friends raved on the gravy with biscuits and the chicken fried steak! Worth hitting up to start your day!

A real throwback to when restaurants were diners. As soon as we walked in this morning we were greeted with«Sit anywhere you like. There’s a booth open here or you can sit in the back room.» From the way they continued to greet people we could tell it’s a local fav. We chose the booth and a very pleasant server was right there offering coffee. The breakfast was both delicious and plentiful. Very plentiful — thus the«to go box». We’ll most certainly be back and recommend it for breakfast, but be sure to come hungry.

Likely the best breakfast we have since since arriving on the island. Simple stuff but done well. I had«SOS», shit on a shingle, to you youngsters. A dish my WWII Generation Mom made for us when we were kids. The owner was present and friendly. Loved it!

We love Cortez Café for breakfast and lunch! The biscuits and gravy are fantastic. Lunch is typical diner fare, very delicious down to earth place and staff!

It’s all about expectations this is a local place and a place that many many many Senior citizens go to… the breakfast food was good & plentiful. This is not a foodie breakfast place… they were able to cook eggs over medium which is a forgotten skill and their home fries were russet potatoes chopped with skin on and I added onions with no problem. The coffee was okay but not as strong and flavorful as I like it you just have to consider who their marketing to… again a nice traditional breakfast place.

Great service. We got the bacon, 2 eggs, grits, toast and coffee. It was absolutely delicious, and $ 5. The tea was really good, tasty coffee. Simple and just what you need!

Excellent pancakes, cheap price, no atmosphere In late March 2015 our party of three had breakfast at the Cortez Café. The pancakes were excellent, the Belgian waffle was very good, the hash browns were good, the eggs and sausage were OK but nothing special. The eggs benedict were not good — the sauce did not taste authentic and the ham, although fresh, was sliced too thick. The coffee was OK, not fabulous, but strong enough. The wait service was good and very quick. The atmosphere was non-existent. The Cortez Café’s main virtue is that the prices are cheap($ 30.00 for three, including tax and tip) and they’re next to a coin laundry, so you can kill some time having a meal while doing your laundry. We would not go back.

Found this little hidden gem when our first choice restaurant was closed for painting. There was not a table available immediately but we were brought coffee while we waited, which was a very short time. Our meals were great, with great home fries and hash browns, the omlets were huge with delicious ham, asparagus cooked just right and cheese, my husband had the Greek Benedict and it was great, muffin, thick slice of ham, tomatoes and fresh spinach with a hollandaise sauce and feta cheese. Will definately go again.

Being from South Georgia and Charleston, I feel qualified to grade their creamy grits… some of the best!!! Since Sam, the owner is Greek, the gyros and their lemon orzo chicken soup are both excellent. Also their home-fries are very tasty. Love this place!

Came here for breakfast. Diner food served up with a smile. Great service and simple food. The hashbrowns were crispy and greasy. Don’t expect gourmet, this is diner food and it’s delicious. Lots of locals eating.

This isn’t the«latest, hottest» breakfast place around but, it is the best! We’ve been making our way here for several years and have never been disappointed. My fallback order is corned beef hash, two poached eggs, hash brown potatoes and, rye toast. The Mrs. gets two, over– easy, hash browns and a bagel. Always prepared perfectly. Always! The wait staff never disappoints. They are attentive, prompt and available. What more could you hope for? This place is a gem.

We go to Cortez Café many Saturdays and it is EXACTLY what you want in a diner: great food, low prices, extra clean and friendly, quick service.

Visiting from Texas, I only had Unilocal reviews to help me find my way. We were initially going to go to Deandra’s for breakfast, but got to the location and it was nonexistent. So, we went to Cortez Café, and are SO glad we did! Definitely a place for the locals! Mostly an elderly crowd, so my husband and I stuck out like a sore thumb. No worries though! Food was excellent! Pancake was HUGE! Most of all, service was great(which we have had trouble finding the entire trip)! Will definitely go back if I ever visit here again!

This is one of our favorite spots for breakfast. It’s probably good for lunch, too, be we ALWAYS get breakfast here! We find their hash browns to be among the best in the area when made nice and buttery and fried brown and crispy. Biscuits and gravy is good, but their eggs and bacon make it a nice place, too.
