Could be I was just starving after traveling all day — but this place was exactly what I wanted! Food was fresh, delicious and delivered quickly. I drank mojitos and they were excellent too. The place itself was fine. Not fancy, but not dirty or grimy either. It was a bit cool so we ate inside. Their patio looked like a lot of fun. Next time I go, I’ll definitely hope to check it out.

We absolutely love Miguel’s! The service is always quick and attentive, even when it’s busy. The chips and jalapeño dip are the best. The camarones jalisco was perfect; five big shrimp stuffed with cheese then wrapped in bacon and fried, so good! My husband loves the carnitas. Great place for lunch or dinner.

OVERVIEW: This is our first time eating at this restaurant. It was delicious! The waiter was very kind and helpful, very attentive to our table. We did go at a brunch hour in the middle of the week, so it was not super busy, but it was still occupied. Immediately we were served with complimentary tortilla chips, salsa, and queso. My boyfriend was in love with the queso and salsa, and our friend even talks about how he wishes the Mexican restaurants we visit here in Michigan had as good of salsa. We gobbled that up pretty quickly(even though it was a great amount), and the waiter quickly got us more while we made our final decisions on what to order. My boyfriend ended up getting enchiladas, while I got their supreme burrito. Our friend got the same that I did. GOODTHINGSABOUTTHEFOOD: The food was sooo flavorful and rich. It was delicious! Very close to what you’d expect to find in Mexico. Super authentic. I’m not surprised by this, however, as we are pretty close down to the country! You get a great portion and, after all those chips, you’re going to find it hard to finish– but you’ll definitely want to! Going back to the chips, they taste so fresh. I don’t know if they make them in-house or what, but they were sooo so good. The queso and salsa was addicting! My boyfriend couldn’t stop eating either of them. NOTSOGOODTHINGSABOUTTHEFOOD: Literally, nothing to be said here. GOODTHINGSABOUTTHESERVICE: Our waiter so quick on his feet and was very polite. He was also very professional, yet patient and ready to answer any questions. This is the kind of service we like! NOTSOGOODTHINGSABOUTTHESERVICE: Nothing to be said here. WHY5STARS?: Because this place is super delicious! We totally recommend it! Yes, it can be pricey– but it’s not over-priced! The food is wonderful, as well as the ambiance and service… and look at the location! Don’t expect to get a Denny’s-priced meal here, because you’re getting authentic Mexican food fairly close to the water with an ambiance that really pulls the experience together. We totally recommend it and have plans to visit the island again simply for this hidden gem. TIP: We parked in the underground parking lot right in front of the restaurant. It might take a second to find it! You spend $ 35 max, but if you bring your beach stuff, you could easily relax in town and on the beach right after your meal.

The worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. This fish bowl setup is absolutely uncomfortable. For 8 men servers to be standing behind a glass and completely stare at you is the most disrespectful behavior in a restaurant. The feeling of when you know someone is talking about you and staring. I decided to tell my server about it, and he made the excuse of the guys watching their tables. I wasn’t «their table», so what’s the real excuse? These unprofessional men act like it is a meat market. What ever happen to men and woman working. Why are there only male servers in this restaurant,? It’ was dead and about 8 men servers on the clock, Also, my server decided to tell the group of guys something, because they all scattered at the same time. Then decided to keep walking by like they were told something. You know the feeling of someone walking by and looking at you because they were told something or to look at you? Well that’s exactly what happen to me. I will never ever go back to this what you would call meat market. Worst experience

What a great place! Super fresh authentic Mexican food that can’t be beat. The ambiance is wonderful also with seating outside on the back patio, inside, or at the entrance on the side. An extensive drink menu including several delicious margaritas from which to choose and impeccable service all combine for a great experience. Be sure to save room and don’t eat too many of the complementary chips and salsa they bring in the beginning! I don’t eat meat, but I eat seafood, and they were nice enough to make me a seafood taco sampler. They were all delicious, but my favorite was the sword fish taco. Fernando was very attentive and his recommendations were spot on! When I initially stumbled upon this place while out shopping, I thought it looked great, but after I asked some local merchants about their favorite Mexican place and they all said Miguel’s, I knew I had to come here!

Margarita pitcher, Carne asada, chicken fajitas. Steak was cooked medium(waiters suggestions) and was so soft and well seasoned including the beans and rice, and wasn’t as expensive upon getting the bill.

This place is great! Food was fantastic and tasted great — The beef Chimichanga was so flavorful(I usually dont order shredded beef but this time I felt like trying it and was so glad I did!) Prices are on the higher end of a Mexican food restaurant, but it is worth it in my opinion. The complimentary cheese dip and salsa were so great! I would love to come back again.

Most Mexican joints offer complimentary salsa. This is the first place I’ve seen that offers complimentary salsa AND queso. Great food, huge portion sizes and efficient service highlight yet another San Diego area experience. We purchased the meal recommended by our server — the Chipotle chicken burrito. I could barely finish the whopping platter they placed before me. The staff was on point as well, efficiently returning to us for drink and chips/salsa refills through the night. This is a more laid back option to the restaurant next door(same owner). Definitely worth taking a look if you’re looking for a casual dining experience that’s still a sit down affair.

I will restate, fun atmosphere. We had the burger(being national hamburger day) –and a little surprised that they sold hamburgers honestly. And the chimichanga, with chicken. Both meats Surprisingly extremely flavorless. However. Our other party members were pleased with the stake flavor. The overall experience was well. P. S. The chips and salsa and cheese was a hit at our table. Bottle that cheese and sell it!

This is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. The food is always great, the service always pleasant, timely and attentive. I love thier Ultimate Margarita. You have to try the Carnitas, Queso Fundido, anything with shrimp or lobster on thier specials menu and the Birria de Res. You will not be sorry. This is one of my favorite locations.

We love coming here and they always seem to be having one big party! The food is reasonable and delicious! We always get the fajitas and the white sauce with chips is divine!!! They have the most adorable hostess, Lily! And the best server is Michelle! I like to sit outside on the back patio.

The worst Mexican restaurant I’ve ever visited. Our server was inefficient and slow!!! The fish tacos were horrible: no flavor, cold, nasty. We couldn’t even eat our food. The location was the only thing this pit had going for it. I would have rather eaten at Taco Bell because it would have been better. Of all the fabulous places to eat Mexican good in San Diego area, & someone recommends this place. It’s an embarrassment. I recommend you eat elsewhere.

The most comfortable outdoor Mexican food eating venue, that makes the food even tastier to eat place I have been to. Very relaxing and you can tell by the others at the other tables. Come during happy hour, which I believe is from 3pm-6pm.the outdoor patio is tucked in a courtyard within other small stores surrounding it, so you are able to walk off your delicious meal while window shopping. Always love coming here the eat every time.

Upon my first visit to San Diego 5 years ago I was introduced to this Mexican gem. I remembered their fish tacos with fondness and was excited to see if they lived up to my memories expectations. Once again, the fish tacos were amazing! The battered fish was beautifully fried and crispy and the Cole slaw added amazing texture and tang. I also tried out the Lemon Press as my beverage and all I can say is ‘Wow!’. Lemons, ginger ale, and mint are all combined in this refreshing drink to give your tastebuds a real treat! Now the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. I was moderately grossed out by the roach that crawled up the wall next to our table. Do these things happen in the cleanest of restaurants? Yes. Did it still dampen my excitement? Yes. But overall, I highly recommend.

Once we got seated, we were welcomed immediately with a complimentary warm basket of tortilla chips which came with red salsa and another small container of white cheese sauce. Boy, were they addictive! We left the red sauce alone, although it is pretty good. But the white cheese sauce had to be replenished twice. We couldn’t stop reaching for the chips to dunk into warm, creamy cheese. Totally yummy! Margaritas were blended nicely and tasted great! We checked out the leach as well as strawberry flavor. Javier, our server was friendly, very efficient and we loved his excellent service! He also speaks three languages and kept us entertained! When we were ready to order, Javier was good at navigating the menu to provide great dinner suggestions! Now for the food: The fried corn topped with mayo, cheese and lime — out if this world! Surf and turf special plate came with rice and red fried beans. Husband says he grades it 7 – 8 on scale of 10! My tacos carnitas were juicy, seasoned and marinated superbly! Overall, we enjoyed the dining experience at Miguel’s Cocina! We will return!

Beautiful Ambiance, delicious food, and wonderful customer service is what you will get at this location in Coronado. Tucked away in a plaza down Orange Avenue, this little gem is a block from the Hotel Del Coronado, offering wonderful Mexican Cuisine for Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We ended up coming to this place because Brigantine is undergoing construction, hence closed, and we are so glad we ended up here! We were instantly mesmerized with the beautiful outdoor patio and the exceptional customer service we received from the hostess. We were seated at about 5:50 and upon realizing it was happy hour, the server was more than happy to take our order in right away so we could get happy hour prices. Btw, happy hour runs Sunday — Friday 3 – 6 pm at this spot. One of the best parts of this spot would definitely be the white cheese sauce they give along with their chips and salsa. Being accustomed to the chips and salsa at every Mexican restaurant in So-Cal, this is definitely a pleasant and delicious surprise. I am definitely inclined to bring my guests here after a visit to Coronado, because the white cheese dip adds so much to the traditional chips and salsa that are served. That being said, the salsa was plenty flavorful as well. For food, we got two classic fish tacos + one carnitas taco, and a mango margarita. We were extremely pleased with all the food that we got — the sizing was great and it was delicious! Furthermore, we had an incredible experience from the moment we walked in until we left. I will definitely be back next time I am in Coronado!

I want to throw rocks at this place. I thought I was eating at Taco Bells. Ugh! Everything was so bland. Actually, taco bell might taste even better than this place. I ordered the Enchiladas Rancheras(House-made spicy ground beef with onions & cheese, topped with a rich tomato ranchero sauce, avocado & sour cream) and I was so mad at myself for ordering that. There was no spiciness to it, no «rich» tomato ranchero sauce, and if house-made means no flavor, then they got it right. I don’t know, I might be too harsh, but even my boyfriends Skirt steak fajita was disappointing and he LOVES fajitas. Thats the only thing he orders from any Mexican restaurant. He was also very upset with the place and even more upset that he chose the place. Other people around us seemed to enjoy it though. Good for them. Sad for us.

One of the worst meals I’ve ever had. We started with the $ 9 guacamole. It was brown and undeniably old. It tasted sour. We ordered the fajitas for two, steak/chicken/mushroom combo. On the positive side, the hot plate part of the fajitas was great. The meat and mushrooms cooked with onions and bell peppers seemed fresh and tasted great. But… The sides were completely ridiculous! The black beans were microwaved and not even close to fresh, we got more old guacamole, the pico de gallo was sour and old, and yes, the corn tortillas weren’t fresh either. We felt like we were eating 3 day old leftovers! We had flan, it was ok. We both have felt bad since the meal. It was a very bad restaurant experience! We should have spoken to a manager, but instead we payed our $ 60 tab and left feeling like we had just been robbed and beaten. Hopefully this review will encourage them to stop selling old leftovers and provide paying customers with fresh food! I must say that the service was very good and the beers were cold.

We stumbled upon this place during a quick trip to Coronado Island. This is walking distance from the beach and hidden in an alley way with little shops for souvenirs and trinkets. They have outdoor and indoor seating but opt to sit outside if the weather is nice! Their free chips and salsa and cheese sauce are so good, we could have eaten them all day. We got the steak salad and pork chili verde — good but we have had better in California. It was not as flavorful as we had liked it to be. Their pomegranate mojito was delicious though! And lots of people were enjoying magaritas and mojitos during lunch.

Let’s start with the location. Right across the street from the beach! It’s hidden from a lot of the norm or ppl that wouldn’t see it if they didn’t know. The restaurant starts you off with complementary quest dip(which is amazing) and salsa! They have a great happy hour from 3−7p! Chicken chimichanga. That is it. Get it and you will thank me later!

Today I had the breakfast Jalisco that was delicious and a Mango Chamoy margarita that was even better. In the breakfast the meat was cooked well(as I requested) but was still juicy and very flavorful. The molcajete salsa on the cheese enchilada was flavorful but not spicy. My mom had the chorizo and couldn’t stop raving about the great flavor.

GOING to be our go to spot for Mexican food on Coronado! The place was awesome the food was great service was on point. My surf and turf burrito was huge. Drinks seem a little pricey. Chips come with salsa and cheese sauce. Very good. Menu has a lot of variety. Good place for kids, $ 6 meals. My wife said this has been the tasting food we have had in San Diego. Will be returning.

I haven’t had Miguel’s in four years and I still dream of the day when I can travel back and have it. Screw coming back to meet friends, come back and have Miguel’s! The white sauce and chips are to die for. The white sauce and calamari is a slice of heaven in your mouth. I would recommend this to anyone. The service is always quick and friendly. Everything is reasonably priced.

The meal started out with great promise: great chips and salsa, with a free side of queso! Well, that’s about the best end of it unfortunately. I will say, the service was really good. And the food was… «ok». We had the ceviche sampler and we shared fried fish tacos and brisket tacos. Having never had ceviche before, I’d say it was pretty good. My big let down… the tacos. Compared to your typical hole in the wall Mexican place, these tacos just didn’t hold up. Especially for the price.

Pretending to be a tourist we took the trolley tour to Coronado and had lunch. I was a little apprehensive after the last Miguel’s experience in Shelter Island. So we walked into what we thought was Miguelito’s and were walked to the patio of Miguel’s. The patio was full and we were seated at a little 2 seater in the corner. Our server at 1st was a little off putting but we fast found that he was actually very nice. We ordered the sparkling golden sangria which was damn strong but really good! The food came out almost immediately and was piping hot. I had the classic fish tacos and they were cooked to perfection! The fish was very well breaded but could have used a touch more seasoning and the same goes for the beans and rice. While a very good fish, it just needed a bit of salt. All in all, a very nice lunch! Cute patio! Still not sure where or what is Miguelito’s or if it is even a part of this restaurant.

I’ve been to the Eastlake location before so I figured we’d receive the same great service here… Unfortunately, It was all that great. It was just my 9 year old niece and I, and we came to enjoy some soup. We walked up and there were 3 people in the front and none of them helped us. They even took a moment to turn around and look at us, yet none of them help. They continued talking! I honestly couldn’t believe it. The only reason I stood and waited was because my niece wanted to have abondigas soup. The soup is good, but you can have better elsewhere. Our waiter was okay. Honestly, this place is for tourists… Maybe because we looked like locals, we received bad service? Whatever the reason, we were paying customers and should have been seated or at least helped when they looked at us standing there… I won’t be back.

We have great service all the time and even grateful for attention from extra staff such as Melony who went above and beyond to make our 3 kids happy and that’s not easy with twin 3 year old boys. Super awesome staff incredible Food thanks Miguel’s. For over 3 decades! Management should take note of this wonderful employee. I’ve come here for happy hour a few times. Good margaritis and fish tacos. The tacos are a pretty large size. Not the small street taco size. I made the mistake of ordering 3 the first time and I was not able to finish the third. Two tacos were plenty for me. The queso dip that is served complimentary is really good! I tend to make this spot my go to after a relaxing day on the beach.

This place was delish! Came here with a group a couple of days ago. I ordered the cucumber jalapeño margarita and the the pork tacos with rice and beans. EVERYTHINGWASSOTASTY! Their reputation for the margaritas preceded them so I came in ready to dive right in, and they didn’t disappoint! Flavorful, a hint of heat and the cucumber made my margarita of choice rather refreshing. The taco plate was amazing. Huge portions, I couldn’t finish it all. But oh so delish. This is the closest Mexican I’ve experienced to the border — I definitely feel like it was tastier that my east coast experiences. Downside of this place — it shuts down at 9PM. Sooo look for a plan B if you want to keep the night going.

Like any other Mexican restaurant in Coronado Miguel’s lacks in authenticity. It’s basically a Caucasian Mexican restaurant. The fish tacos are decent but the added toppings ruin what is supposed to be a crispy fish taco. Also since its in Coronado parking is inexistent. We stopped by this weekend in search of something to go. We waited for our order outside and had a couple drinks. Since we didn’t want to keep their plastic cups we sat around a tiny table why our order was ready. A rude waitress came up and asked us to evacuate the tiny table because they had a wait list. I understand there’s a wait list and people want tables but we were literally about to leave because 1. We were done with the drinks and 2. Our order was out. This being a restaurant in a tourist town you would think they would know a thing about customer service. This was my second and last time here. I do not recommend this high priced tasteless establishment. In all honestly you’re better off going across the street to la salsa.

First trip for my wife to Coronado and I knew I had to get her some good eats before we walked around the beautiful beaches(right across the street from the Hotel!). Great food here and excellent service. Came here for breakfast and had amazing dishes. We ordered the coconut plantain french toast(OMG delicious), Chilaquiles(delicious), Steak & Enchilada with eggs(a little fatty on the steak, cheese a bit much on the enchilada). I love that you get both salsa and queso with your chips. The Passionfruit iced tea was also excellent.

On the way back from comic con a friend recommended we go here. A little bit out of the way for us as we were headed to LA. But this was one of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve ever had. To start you off you get chips white this white cheese sauce. Can’t really remember what it was but it was so good. The menu had a good variety. I ordered a surf and turf burrito and since it was happy hour a mojito. The food portions were great and so were the drinks. Being on Coronado Island you already know this place was at a higher class. We sat outside which was nice. The inside and bar area looked pretty cool too. I also think it was connected to a hotel. But next year for comic con or any other time I’m in San Diego I am definitely coming back here and would recommend this place to anyone.

This place has a bright, happy aura about it, drawing you in. It’s been a long time favorite of my Mother’s and we have nothing but good memories here. Ordered the chicken tacos with beans and rice. Every time I eat out at a Mexican restaurant the true test for me is the beans and rice. If the beans and rice are fresh, soft and spiced just right, then I know I will love everything on my plate. The chicken was very moist and flavorful with the onions, tomato bits and cilantro. The corn tortilla was freshly made and tasted mildly sweet. Could not eat it all(because I ate too many freshly made tortilla chips) so I had to take it home for lunch! Yummy lunch for me!

Corn grows into ears Little balls formed of masa Tortillas puff up. I watched as she grabbed a little ball of dough and flattened it in the press. She covered both pieces of metal in plastic wrap to keep the dough from sticking. Then she placed tortilla on the flat top to cook. I have always admired good craftsmanship. I had a good feeling about the food here. The first thing I noticed as the free chips came out was the shiny salt crystals on the chips. How lovely they were reflecting the light. I could resist them just long enough to take a photo. There was just enough grease so that the chips weren’t dry but not enough to affect the the crunchiness. Flavor was excellent mix of tortilla and a hint of grease and salt. I barely controlled the urge to ask for a second basket. My tacos showed up just in time to stop me from ruining my appetite with chips. The first one I tried turned out to be the best. Freshly made corn tortilla with a nice light flavor which didn’t distract from the delicious carne asada. Those dark little morsels contained an explosion of flavor. One of the best carne asada tacos I’ve ever had. Carnitas taco was overflowing the tortilla with delicious carnitas. Tender shredded pork was marinated is something delicious that bordered on spicy. Slow roasted brisket taco rivaled the carnitas in tenderness. Flavors were more subtle than the other 2. Excellent meat to tortilla ratio. I should have eaten this one first. Food was excellent here and I enjoyed looking at the cool stuff on the walls. Manager was very friendly and informed me of how they make their own chips, tortillas, and salsa fresh daily.

We’re always looking for great restaurants when we’re in Coronado. When we were here last weekend, we were really craving Mexican food. We were so glad we stumbled upon Miguel’s. The food and service were great here! We started with the chips and salsa. Served with both the regular and white salsas(the white salsa is jalapeño cheese), the chips were fresh and delicious. Although the restaurant is known for it’s white salsa, which is creamy and really yummy, the regular salsa is still my favorite here. My husband ordered the Steak Fajitas, and he thoroughly enjoyed his meal. With a side of fresh salsa, guacamole, beans, rice, and flour tortillas, my husband really liked the Fajitas and thought the ingredients(fresh steak, peppers, tomato, mushrooms, and onions) were very tasty. I thought my Enchiladas were delicious too. They were served with a yummy side of beans and rice. I’m still trying to figure out what the sauce was. It was so good! I will definitely be ordering that again. My son ordered the chicken soft taco. His meal came with rice and fries. He thought this was great too! The service was really quick and efficient, especially considering how busy this restaurant was. We were so hungry, and it seemed liked we were seated and served our chips and salsa right away. I’m so glad we found another great restaurant in Coronado! Whenever we’re visiting, we’ll definitely stop by here when we’re craving delicious Mexican food!
