If you like dirt in your candy go here. Otherwise go to coronado candy factory. They got it going on.

Worst chocolate I have ever paid for. Waxy and bland is how every piece was. Fudge had zero flavor. I have been here three times and it has always been the same experience. Fudge is shipped from some source out of state. I would recommend buying candy at Target over this disaster.

I was strolling down Orange Avenue after lunch and I was craving something sweet. I saw Dolce Vita and walked right in. They have a nice selection of everything sweet. They have the usual candy bars… snickers, milky way. They have the unusual… chocolate covered crickets & worms, candy embedded with real butterflies or ants. They have the retro… Necco wafers, Howard’s scented gum(smells & tastes like violets?). Basically anything your sweet tooth desires in this small little store! Personally, I’m a chocolate loving gal so I walked out with some Bailey’s filled chocolates… YUM! Nice, friendly service too! Great place to make a quick stop to get some sweet stuff to snack on while at the beach.

I have no idea why there are now three candy stores in Nado, two of them being Dolce Vitas… but I think DV gets my vote for the best because its range of candy is a lot more oddball, and the store is designed to welcome browsers — more open space. I suppose you have to wonder about whether the 957 buckets of «pay by the pound» candy are fresh or not, but hey– how long did that Butterfinger sit on the shelf at Rite Aid? Mexican candies, lollipops bigger than your face, and those freaky new Beanie Babies that look like Mogwai. It’s worth a browse, and if you’ve ever had a candy that you loved as a kid, I’d bet this place has it.

So there are 3 different candy stores I’ve been to along Orange ave and I would say this one is my pick because it looks like the biggest store with a great selection of candy and it’s not as busy as the others. While it’s listed on Orange the address is 1330 not 1130 as it is listed right now. if you are coming off Orange then you enter through a sketchy alley… the store front is more along Dana Place. It’s better if you’re walking along Orange to just make a right on Dana Place, walk some more, and then you’ll see it on the right. You have to walk down a ramp to get there. The lady at the front counter could try to be a bit more friendly. We walked in(only ones in the store) and no hello or anything. They also do the BS scam of making you spend at least $ 5 to use a credit card here, so be aware of that. I always call BS on that… but whatever. Anyhow, the weighed candy is $ 2.99 ¼ pound. Well they have a great selection of candy and this location is just a minute or so from the beach which is nice to get some candy and snack on it with a view.

I really really love Dolce Vita’s, for a lot of reasons, but mainly one. What is it you wonder? Oh well its Gummy Strawberry Milkshakes of course! Is this the only candy store in San Diego I can find that sells these? Yes. And that is why I love it so. I also really love it for the fact that they still order and sell older candy’s. I don’t mean old in age. I mean candy’s that were popular in the old days. When I wasn’t alive. So its actually like I’m trying new candies that I never got the chance to try, which is awesome. This candy store also has a wide variety of Mexican candy’s, and other gross things like chocolate covered grasshoppers. Haha just kidding I love Mexican candy. But grasshoppers are gross. Its open till 9pm but don’t come at 9 and expect to get in. The doors are locked at 9, more like 8:50 for all you stragglers ;) Its a really great looking candy store too, hard wood floors and a very clean polished look to it =)
