Love love love gallos. Love cdm. Love the view(who dont like hot blondies?) Traffic kinda sucks. Ok ok. Ive had almost everything here. But now i can only eat the veggie or turkey ones. Tyrkey, avo, sometimes cheese, dijon, pepperchini, lett, and tom. Dont sound like much but they stack em. Get almost 1⁄3 avocado with each sammich. Sammich runs for $ 10. Bottle or canned drinks of all kinds. The same two mexicans been making sammiches since i stepped foot in 2001. The same elderly cashier with her smile has been there too. The service is great!!! They wont rush you but we all know how douchie the locals are(except for snow). I think this has the biggest parking lot for a restaurant in barrio ocean’s crown nonetheless for a hut!!! My brother always gets pastrami. He likes it better than the hat. Prolly cus its not borderlined deep fried. If u in the hood, between 10 to 4. Give gallo a shot. Its so much better than the local corporate competition(obviously not against the sit downs). Happy gobble gobbling. And get your taxes done!

Whenever I want a sandwich that reflects the simplicity and amazing quality that is characteristic of Italian food, I come to Gallos. I order the same thing every time: dry salame and provolone on white. No condiments or added vegetables needed; the quality of their meats and cheeses are that good. The meat and cheeses are shaved right in front of you and the taste of freshness is very evident. I always like to pair my sandwich with a bag of the baked jalapeño chips they offer which are delicious! The overall meal totals to about $ 8 which is very reasonable considering the quality of the food. If you want to spice up your sandwich they have plenty of condiments and ingredients to choose from and plently of other Italian meats and cheeses. They have customized sandwiches too if you’re having difficulty deciding on your own creation. This place is located off of PCH in Corona Del Mar. I’m so glad they still have a location in OC as my go-to location in Anaheim Hills recently closed. Their venue is pretty small and I don’t recall many, if any places to sit so you might want to plan on taking your sandwich to go. The parking lot is pretty small as well but they have street parking all along PCH. I highly recommend Gallos and feel that it’s worth the drive to CDM for a taste of authentic Italian sandwiches.

Freeking amazing! Packed full of flavor. A hidden place you’d miss if you weren’t paying attention. Keep your eyes open and enjoy yourself. Turbacado = turkey, bacon, avocado Do it. Quick note: Cashier lady changed her mood the minute I scratched out the«tip» portion on the receipt. Thanks for making my sandwich, here’s an extra dollar? No.

Pure sandwich perfection. Shaved meat and cheese right in front of you. Fresh baked bread straight from c’est si Bön French bakery around the corner. You can’t throw a rock without hitting a sandwich shop or deli but what gallos has that surpasses the others is attention to the appropriate ratios of ingredients. You’ll never say to yourself, «gee, that was good but a bit too much of this or not enough that». I know it sounds like a simple thing but one that many chain sandwich shops and delis get horribly wrong. Are you listening sandwich artists?!

Just mediocre, everything about this sandwich made subway look good. Drive down the street to Gary’s much better option!

How have I not written a review for Gallo’s yet?! One of my favs from back home. I curse the days I didn’t know about Gallo’s yet and went to Subway. So, so not the same. It’s just as good as proper East Coast Italian delis — the meat and cheese selection is amazing and everything is super fresh. My personal favorite is the Napolean– an assortment of hot Italian meats, Munster cheese, and pepperchinis. SO delicious. If you’re in the CDM area and feel like a sub, look no further.

It’s with a heavy heart that I have to give this place 1 star. Been coming here for 20 years, always great roast beef sandwiches, but have had a problem the last 3 times over the last 2 months. The staff has never been friendly, but overlooked it for the good food. 1. They were out of roast beef, disappointed but okay that can happen. Maybe someone before me ordered 30 roast beefs. So, didn’t get my sandwich. 2. Cash register wasn’t working so they said they couldn’t take cash, apparently the cashier couldn’t use the calculator next to her to figure out how much change to give, so didn’t get my sandwich again. 3. They were out of bread(it wasn’t even past lunchtime), so once again I didn’t get my sandwich. They obviously need new management, I’ve been in the restaurant business for 30 years, really 3 times in a row I couldn’t get my sandwich! Probably won’t be back.

Tried the epic sandwich. Turkey, avocado and cheese. They don’t offer any other veggies on the sub, anything else is extra. The sandwich was below average. Hate to say this but subway is actually better. The avocado and turkey were actually pretty warm being that it’s a cold sub. If you are looking for friendly service this is not the place for you. I just grab my food and go so that part I don’t really care about.

Yummy! Came here after a day of scuba diving at shaw’s cove. Friend and I shared the combo and… I forget what it was called, but both very tasty! I was starving though after a dAy out in the ocean. They stock a wide variety of chips and drinks. Deli quality is fresh. Little shop had a line out the door… always a good sign! 3 stars because it wasn’t anything crazy I’ve never had before.

From the curb, this small unassuming classic deli a gem of a sandwich shop. All the meats and cheeses on display are nostalgic and reminiscent of Lolita in Manhattan. Warm smiles greet you and a super loaded and warmer sandwich you shall leave with. This joint gets the 5 star exception!

I haven’t been to Gallos in about 8 years and went there on Sunday. Just like I remembered, great sandwiches! I got the Napoleon because I saw other reviews about that sandwich. It was really really good. If you want quality tasty food, I would come here for lunch. It was really good and it’s a generous sandwich unlike other chain sandwich places we all know. We took them to the beach to eat and although it was a bit of a trek, it’s worth the drive. Try it and highly recommend the Napoleon.

Food looks and tastes great. Service is terrible. Placed a pick up order which was almost impossible to do, then upon picking it up I asked the girl to go over my order with me and show me every(since I couldn’t read the short hand sloppily written on everything) which was a HUGE hassle. After she let out her 3 frustrated breathe of air, I asked her«is this an inconvenience for you?» In which she replied«I wrote everything down for you and shouldn’t have to go over it again. No one ever does this, they just trust us». Well, when I’m buying for 10 people I can’t just go on the honor system. Wouldn’t recommend it to people without EXTREME patience.

They are friendly, which is absolutely mandatory in any restaurant worth being in business. If an eatery wanting to serve the masses with delicious cold cuts, chips and chocolate chip cookies, can’t find friendly people to help in that endeavor; well then they won’t last very long! Look it up. I digress… Anyway, late summer I had the opportunity to patronize this establishment and I’m glad I did. I had the standard, most popular, Italian sub: cold cuts were good quality, delicious, the guy who made my sub actually listened to my instructions when it came to putting the mayo and mustard and he did it perfectly. The veggies were relatively fresh — no brown spots on the lettuce… very important. Bottom line: I could taste all the ingredients and they blended nicely! The service: I don’t if the woman behind the counter was the owner or not(too hungry… couldn’t function… properly), but she very nice and we exchanged pleasantries. But when I waffled on one last indulgence before embarking on my long drive home, she said, «here, take it… for the road, I know you have a long drive.» With that she’d become my surrogate grandma! The only reason for 4⁄5 stars is because it was a little dark. If you’re a little impaired sight-wise then you may have some issues navigation the small space inside. Even though it was kind of late afternoon and it didn’t seem too necessary… someone might have a problem with it. Otherwise, I give it my full endorsement. Eat at Gallo’s.

Wow, this place took me by surprise. You may not think much of this place from its modest outside appearance, but in the end it comes down to getting a tasty sandwich-which is exactly what you’ll get here. I think their secret formula is their submarine bread– which I found to be very tasty. All the other ingredients in their subs similarly follow suit in terms of quality and taste. The Turbacado submarine I had was perfect as it didn’t take long for me to scarf it down. Thumbs up for Gallo’s Deli.

Just had lunch here today. It was my first time, but my coworker swears by this place. As you walk in it is a little small. There is a guy behind the counter slicing your meat and cheese and a woman adding the toppings. The third employee who is quiet and hard to understand works the cash register. LOCATION: on the north side of PCH just east of Poppy. Look for a small blue building. Plenty of parking and outdoor seating. Inside is small, plenty of drinks and snacks to choose from. STAFF: friendly and efficient. Seemed well organized. FOOD: Plenty of meat and toppings. Very fresh ingredients. They slice the meat and cheese right in front of you. Tasted really good and big sandwich for the regular size. Overall, good food and staff. On the expensive side at 7.25 out the door for a regular sub by itself. But you do get a good amount of ingredients.

I was born at Hoag Hospital and grew up blocks away from Gallo’s Deli. I would probably given this a 4 or 5 star rating for the first 25 years I visited this place. However, I would like to tell the owners that their new policy on cutting back on the meat is ridiculous. I just paid $ 9 for a sandwich that completly under delivered. There was about two slices of roast beef. This used to be a great sandwich and worth the price. I would suggest that the owners go back to the old school way of making these delicious submarines. That is my two cents. If I go back again and get this sorry excuse for a sandwich, I will not return and update this review to one star. Cheers

Delicious! My bf was raving about this sandwich place, so we finally went yesterday. I got the Napoleon– veryyyy good!!! Huge portions with tons of meat and cheese. Super cute place, small and quaint. The adorable old lady that rang us up was so sweet! I will definitely be back for a delicious sandwich !!
