I’m visiting family nearby and tried out the dog park for my 10 month old pit/lab mix. He loved running around with the other dogs of all sizes. Park is big and there’s seating in the sun and the shade, I guess depends on what time of the day you come. I went at noon on a Thursday and it was really pleasant. Almost all the pet owners were in their mid to late 20’s and there to have fun and enjoy the pups play. Would recommend if your dog needs to run around!

Lexi’s Favortie We live in a Condo so Lexi, our five year old Welsh Corgi does not get as much excercize as he would like nor does he get to socialize with other dogs outside of the immediate neighbors. He loves this dog park. Lexi is the most socialable dog I have ever seen and feels that everyone should pet him and that every dog should play with him. You have to be careful because he know no fear and will walk up to a much bigger dog with it’s hackles us with the expression, ‘want to play/“ Most of the owner at this park keep their dogs under control and Lexi has a great time. Only problem these days is the heat which limits the amount of time he can stay.

I come from Atlanta where dog parks are a dime a dozen and always well maintained. The park is very large, but bring your own bags because the parks dept doesn’t keep them stocked regularly. Also don’t come for the social atmosphere. The average age is 55+ and maturity level is high school at best(very cliquey). Give Charlotte 5 – 10 years and there will be more dog parks and will be better maintained. But for now it gets a 4⁄5 because it’s the closest one to me and I haven’t ventured to other ones.

Nice park, just pick up after your dog. Hate that rule if you dog goes into the woods you don’t have to pick up after them. Hello, we do. If we all don’t tend to our pets, its will become a health hazard to others and then no one will be allowed to bring their pets there. Also don’t bring a man eating dog into walk on leash around the dog park. First a dog park is for the dogs and if your dog is to dangerous to be there, leave. Just use common sense people. We are all here so the dogs get some exercise and have fund. Plus say hello to your human friends, show you dogs a good example

Swaney Pointe K-9 park is a four-acre fenced in area where dogs can run off-leash. Located near the entrance to Ramsey Creek Park in Cornelius, Swaney Pointe has two separate fenced areas: one for dogs under 20 lbs. and one for dogs over 20 lbs. There is an open, grassed in area and a smaller wooded section closer to the front-fence area that allows some shade. As part of the Mecklenburg County Park and Rec. Department, the park is free, meaning county-wide dog park rules apply. Pooch passes are no longer sold or required. Operating hours are dawn ’til dusk, Monday thru Friday.
