Rita is the sweetest lady. She is helping me with my first quiilt. Her store is great. Tons of different fabrics and notions.

I always check out quilt stores when I travel. Don’t waist your time here. Very little inventory… no current fabrics… and a cat that was hoping all over the finished quilts… oh my!

I was hesitant to take my Mom here considering the reviews but figured it wouldn’t hurt given it was one of many we were planning on visiting to find the necessary fabric needed. Happy to report: No Irish Setter was spotted(nor other animals) however ripping of fabric continues. My mom is a novice and Rita & Irene were very helpful(and most importantly patient) selection was more than enough for our mission. I’m not a «Quilter» by any stretch of the imagination, but this place did seem to be up to snuff. Will definitely be back.

Not your average fabric store! Walking in the door and being greeted by the loving owners, Michael and Rita Smith, make your feel right at home. They have a huge assortment of fabrics and they even teach quilting classes. The shop pets are very sweet and do not bother you while you are shopping. You don’t have to be a quilter to come here.

This place is nestled off Macon Rd just across from the Cordova town square. It’s pretty easy to miss if you’re not paying attention. The store itself is small but nicely laid out. It’s easy to walk around and view the fabrics without feeling cramped. There are some lovely quilts on the wall as well, great for inspiration. The selection is small(it’s a small store) but good. Rita(the owner) is a sweetheart and very friendly. I sew but I don’t quilt and often quilters try and convince me to quilt. I didn’t feel that way with her and she was very interested to hear about what I wanted to make. She was also very willing to make me a custom fat quarter bundle should I want that size of specific fabrics. I ended up with 8 very lovely fat quarters that I have no idea what I’m going to do with… they were just too lovely to pass up. 1 star lost because of the pets. While Daisy is a very sweet and gorgeous golder retriever the first thing she did was jump on me. I’m familiar with dogs and was willing to take the time to tell the dog to stop jumping but to many people this is a big deterrent. Having a dog and cat myself it doesn’t bother me personally that there are pets in the store(there is a cat there as well) but it may make it difficult for people who are allergic to animals to purchase fabric there without having an issue. UPDATED: Despite Michael S.‘s continued insults to Unilocal!members I had checked this place out. He was not happy with his other 1 star review and instead of trying to make it better has used his comments as a platform to insult Kathleen M. After my review I received this message from him: «Irene, once again, a fair review of the business is one thing, but a personal attack on the person is another thing entirely. I defended Rita in a strong and agressive manner. That is my responsibility as her husband, and I take that responsibility seriously.» There was no personal attack in the review, but Michael S’s continued defense of his bullying actions does nothing but damage the reputation of his store. I was looking forward to going back and chatting with Rita, maybe even taking a class but I can’t ignore the actions of the other owner who continues to defend his harassing actions. I was doing my best to only take in to account my experience in the store but you continue to bring your bad attitude to my inbox.
