Took advantage of the Coral Gables Restaurant Week deal and headed to Christy’s on a Tuesday evening. Started with the Lobster Bisque, then tried both the Full Rack of Lamb and the Filet Mignon, added a side of the Gruyère Potatoes Au Gratin, and finished sharing both the Mixed Nut Brownie A La Mode and the Key Lime Pie. Quality Although the meal had some highlights it lacked consistency from dish to dish. The Lobster Bisque was extremely forgettable. It was extremely heavy and seemed to contain next to no lobster at all. The two entrée items were very good. The Full Rack of Lamb was both very large and very tasty. The meat was cooked extremely well and it was very tender. I was not a huge fan of the potato wedges it came with, but I did like the sauces that it was plated on. The Filet Mignon was awesome and cooked to the perfect specifications. However, it was ruined a bit by the awful steak sauce that pooled on the plate. I would have greatly preferred the steak by itself. It came with brussels sprouts as well, which I am never a fan of, so I let my date enjoy them. The Gruyère Potatoes Au Gratin was just average, and with the food we ordered very unnecessary. Of the desserts the Mixed Nut Brownie A La Mode was probably the better of the two. I did not like that nuts were used in the crust of the Key Lime Pie, which immediately turned me off of it. Quantity I do not have any qualms with the portion sizes. Everything from the bisque to the meat to the dessert were all very large portions. Also, the fact that small sides were added to the entrees was a nice touch making additional sides unnecessary. Value We came to take advantage of the prix fixe menu set up for Coral Gables Restaurant Week. With that in mind it was a pretty solid value. However, I would not come back willing to pay full price for what I ordered. Ambiance Christy’s bills itself as one of the first steakhouses in South Florida and it has been a Coral Gables institution for nearly forty years. And as impressive as that is, the restaurant doesn’t have that same feel like it should remain the same forever. Rather to me it feels like a place in desperate need of an update, yet afraid it would alienate the regulars who have frequented the restaurant. The restaurant is set a few blocks south of Miracle Mile on a corner and it is a dark building with little identification aside from its sign. You enter and are immediately engulfed in darkness as it follows a much more traditional steakhouse style like those in New York. As you walk in you pass through a narrow bar area with a piano and a few seats and even a small television. The dining area is larger, but the tables are still far too close to each other. The floor is carpeted red, the walls are red, and the table side lights have red shades. Strange pieces of artwork adorn the walls completing the dark and classic look. There was no music the night I was there so you could clearly hear all the conversations around you which was a bit uncomfortable. Crowd The crowd could easily have been the same crowd that was there for the opening of the restaurant. It is definitely a place that tries to draw on the Coral Gables elite, but that means something much different today than in years past. Aside from one family out for a special occasion, no one in the restaurant appeared below retirement age. Service Our waiter was very nice, but you could tell he is instructed to act in a very conservative manner. It seemed early on that he wanted to talk and joke around, but it felt like he kept holding it back out of decorum. All the waitstaff was also male, which I found strange, but I guess it has been the standard Christy’s has used from the start. Parking You can find a good deal of street parking all around the restaurant. Extra If not for the deal I probably would not have made my way to Christy’s and honestly nothing really stood out to encourage me to come back. The food was mixed, though the steak and lamb were very good. It is probably as close as you will get to the old school NYC style steakhouse as you will find in Miami, but it just lacks that same tradition and charm that the city creates.

Clearly, one of THE finest restaurants, in Miami. Probably one of the few — if not the only — where you can dine, «AND,» hear & converse coherently, w/your guest(s). Servers are subdued, yet on cue. A private loaf of freshly baked bread, semi-soft butter, followed by a ‘genormous’ Caesar salad. Dinner — impeccable, yet, you’ll end up taking it home, in a metal box. Consistent quality, décor and style. You won’t regret your visit to this Coral Gables landmark.

So what if the décor kinda looks like something out of American Horror story, that’s part of its charm. Food is always delicious, service is personal, and the mojitos are nice and stiff.

Whether it is a special occasion or a great evening out wanting a very elegant restaurant serving top notch food with incredible service than this is the place. From the moment we came into this high end restaurant until we left, there is nothing at all that can be said in a negative way. The atmosphere is soothing and relaxing, service just top-notch and the food was as good as it gets. The menu is not loaded with a ton of food items, but is very diversified. We both had a steak dinner and without a doubt the meat was PRIME and cooked to perfection without a ton of cover ups to take away from the taste and quality of the meat. The manager came to our table and introduced herself. She was very pleasant and concerned that everything so far was going well. She was very friendly and genuine. Highly recommend this restaurant and definitely try it for yourself.

For starters, make Christy’s your date night or after work happy hour place, as doors open daily at 5pm, except Sunday’s. As you walk through the front doors your are greeted by reception, after which, the bar seating area and a few high seated tables. The bar area has one TV and is richly decorated with mahogany tables, dark and cold rimmed paintings. Very classy. The dining area is after the bar area. The restaurant website has some very good pictures of the pace. Two attendants stand at the entrance in case you need your car valet parked. The menus: one for drinks and another for the appetizer, sides and entrees are embossed in red leather. Very fancy. Based on several reviews I had read raving about their Cesar Salad, I decided to order the same, but I didn’t see it on the menu. I asked if it was available and the response was«Always!» And so I ordered it and added chicken and of course with anchovy dressing. The romain lettuce were generously but not overly dressed. Croutons were crunchy bite-size chunks and did crunch nicely in your mouth. The chicken added was of a fine chicken and was moist. Although I don’t typically oder dessert the Alaskan Bake caught my attention and curiosity: a chocolate pound cake bottom, topped with Neapolitan ice cream, covered in a soft merengue shell which is doused in kirsch schnapps and set a flame at your table side. The pyrotechnic effects are worth the order alone as my server not only managed to light up the dessert but half the tray carrying the dessert too. Truly fun. And I must add delicious. I ordered the small order which was enough to serve two people. What is Neapolitan ice cream? It’s vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream stacked together. The origin of this naming comes from Naples, Italy. Definitely a classy restaurant with some very fine entrees on the menu as well. A little bit on the pricey side but you get what you pay for. I’ll have to bring Nicole here when she is back in town.

We came here for a dinner date on a Thursday evening. The atmosphere of the restaurant was comfortable and the lighting dim. I almost felt as if I was in an old Victorian house. We came here because of the awesome experience my BF had for a work function. We ordered a 12 oz steak, crab cake, seared scallops, 2 side dishes of broccoli/mashed potatos, and for dessert a nutty brownie with vanilla ice cream. The cream sauce on the crab cake was amazing. Although, my favorite part about the meal was definitely the filet– we had some issues initially getting it which is why I am rating 4 instead of 5 stars. We ordered it medium rare and it came out medium well. Unfortunately at that point I already had my meal of scallops, and all the sides– and we had to wait a little longer for the filet to be remade. The scallops were a bit too burnt on the surface but the filet once remade was juicy and delish. Overall staff was gracious and attentive they kept our waters full, apologized and made up for the error. I would still highly recommend to others, we were stuffed at the end of the meal!

Omg the food was so good. Recently tried the steak tartare. It was amazing. Nice pieced of steak with, capers and a quail egg on top. Really nice presentation and taste. The new snapper on the menu was delicious. Perfectly cooked with coconut rice underneath. One of the best I’ve had. Only, docking a star sue to service since they seemed a bit understaffed in the bar area. Everything food was A+.

A reliable consistent excellent restaurant. We had Chris as our waiter and he is warm and welcoming! The shrimp cocktail is the Best in the land! Much better than Flemings. I’ve had stone crabs and this is the best in the land as well. Their fish supplier best in the land! Prime Rib always excellent but it’s pricey! Steaks are good likely equal to other good steak restaurants. Cesar salad always great and included in the meal at no extra cost.

Why don’t I eat here every time I go out? Great service. Great food. Super atmosphere. I love this place.

Came here on a date with my husband. What I loved the most was the atmosphere and that we felt very comfortable. The service is great. You always have someone at your service. My husband didn’t really like this because he felt like our waiter hovered but I actually didn’t mind because whenever I needed something I didn’t have to wait around until he passed by. The food was good. I can’t say it’s out of this world compared to other restaurants at this price point. I’ve had better. My filet mignon was cooked to perfection and was super juicy. Overall I had a pleasant time. No complaints

The food was amazing! I had the truffle mac and cheese, 20oz. Ribeye and asparagus. But my service was two thumbs down All I have to say is racism/segregation NEVER ended! It’s quite sad. I had a party of 10 and none of «us» felt welcome. Thanks for nothing Aldo

Average steak place for above average prices I know this is a miami/coral gables staple and it’s been around for a long time. perhaps getting too comfortable? In comparison to other steak houses in the gables, this definitely isn’t the best. the restaurant itself seems outdated. it could use a renovation. the bar area is super small. and an equally small TV. the food was ok. We ordered calamari, tartar, I had the filet and husband had the prime rib, and finished with the brownie a la mode. the prime rib seems to be their specialty meat item. I will say that it was tasty — but pricey at $ 52. my filet wasn’t great, the meat tasted a little dry. tip: they do charge an uncorking fee($ 15−20/bottle)

This is a Miami Spice Review: What I ordered: –Lobster Bisque –Filet Mignon(rare) –Brownie Food Review: The UHMAZING steak: Normally when you ask for a rare steak in Miami, you get like a medium rare, if your lucky. I am so happy to report, that steak was rare! So juicy, red, melts in your mouth, rare. OMG so good. And the portion was very big, an big fat 8 oz cut of nothing but lean and juicy filet mignon. The sauce to the steak complimented the steak so well! Little bit of spinach and some potatoes medallions joined which sucked up all that sauce, tasted fantastic! Needless to say, I was very pleased with the steak! lol But def keep in mind there is plenty of sauce on the plate, and I know some steak lovers that hate sauces with the steak(they want just the meat to enjoy), so keep in mind to ask for the sauce on the side if that is you. Lobster Bisque: I mean, honestly how can you screw up lobster bisque? I do have to say though, this one was very tasty. My only complaint is there were not pieces of lobster in my soup. I kinda like to see my lobster in my lobster bisque. But the flavor of the lobster was there. Also, a bit salty, so I def had to break up my sips with some water. The Brownie: In the restaurants defense, I am not a fan of nuts in my brownie, so wasn’t like crazy about it, but I still finished the whole thing. lol It was the perfect sweet ending to this Miami spice. Miami Spice Bang for your buck? Yess The 8oz steak alone is $ 42, so you’ve already broken even there. Soup isn’t on the menu, but assume comparable soup would run about $ 9, and dessert about $ 9 as well. That puts you at $ 60 vs $ 39.

With reservations we waited 30 min. To be seated, and the service was ok not great, maybe because the place was packed. We did the Miami spice menu and I was surprised at the portion size. They did not hold back, our meal was splendid from beginning to end. I defiantly recommend Christy!

They have a very good deal for Miami Spice. The food was delicious. I would have liked less sauce on my meat but it was still good. Next time I will order the sauce on the side. They have the best key lime pie that I have ever had.

The Miami spot for the Power Lunch crowd. World class Ceasar Salads and steaks. It has been a fixture on Ponce de Leon longer than my law firm across the street. For decades this was place in Coral Gables for special celebrations or just having a special meal with someone you care about. A classic. Just not the greatest anymore.

Christy’s is one of my wife’s family’s favorite, and with a reason! First, it is a very elegant restaurant, and you will notice this from the moment you walk in. The service, is fantastic and to the point; it is definitely on the«expensive«side, but definitely worth dinning in. Now the food is spectacular! I ordered the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer, and the shrimp was ginormous and exquisite! Worth every penny. As a main course, I opted for the lamb and it was probably the best lamb I have ever had in the US; filled with flavor and it would almost melt in my mouth… I was really impressed by it. Our server recommended the brownie with a scoop of ice-cream, and it was ok. Im not a dessert lover, but it was not bad. Overall, this restaurant is a great place to bring family, a date or simply enjoy a very well made meal. A must visit!

Overall, a slightly average meal. Bland steaks and average service. This is a Coral Gables landmark and I remember first eating here as a kid in the 80s. I think the same customers are still eating here, as the average age skews fairly high. The place was fairly busy, so maybe I ordered the wrong meal, but they were out of stock of the prime rib at 8pm on a Saturday night.

Service was really good. Food is overpriced… leaves a lot to be desired considering the price of a meal for two was $ 150. At that price, each entrée should be accompanied by a side of orgasm.

Went here for Coral Gables Restaurant Week. We both ordered lobster bisque, then the full rack of lamb and the 8 oz filet mignon for entrees, and finished it with the mixed nut brownie a la mode. Lobster bisque: had good flavor but a little too salty for my personal taste. This dish lacked in presentation. A little bit of chopped parsley or any green would’ve made the dish look nicer. An upscale restaurant like this should try to make their dishes look worth the price. Full rack of lamb: if you’re going for restaurant week/Miami spice, choose this! Meat was cooked to perfection, seasoning was great, portion was huge! Couldn’t even finish it. Best deal for a FULL rack of lamb. Filet mignon: again, cooked to a perfection. Good flavor but the asparagus with the«mustard vinaigrette» was horrible… it was just asparagus with mayo! So disappointed in that. There was a very tiny hint of mustard but more mayo-y or «aioli» if you want to make it fancy. Brownie a la mode: HUGE! Did not expect it to be that big. Brownie had lots of nuts and big scoop of ice cream on top. I recommend this place for restaurant week or Miami spice but would not go back for regular dining. Food was«okay» but would not pay original price. Service was decent though and atmosphere was nice and fancy. Small little cute restaurant.

I hate writing bad and mediocre reviews. The food was mediocre, the serviced sucked, the parking was worse. For dinner reservations for 8:30pm, and leaving at 11:15pm… kinda sucked and just made me even more exhausted and cranky. We had potato skins that only come with sour cream chives and caviar. Nothing else lol My 6oz medium filet was brought to me RAW. Then the mash potatoes tasted funny, kinda tastes of what of a barn smells like. Desert was ok. Prob the only good thing here hahaha. Starting to think the more south I go, the lower the class of restaurants are becoming. Sigh. Another disappointment.

We had an excellent meal at this restaurant in Coral Gables. The atmosphere was nice and the food was super awesome. I would definitely recommend this for family and friends. We had the Miso maple salmon with ginger scented jasmine rice, sautéed green beans, mango coulis, topped with sweet soy reduction. It was incredibly fresh and tasty. We also had the pesto grilled mahi with roasted red pepper risotto, accompanied with heirloom tomato relish, and chive oil. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. The service was awesome as well, very informative and friendly.

I went to Christy’s to try their Miami Spice menu. I made a reservation in the morning for 8:00pm. I called later on in the day to move up the reservation to 8:15 or 8:30 and they said they were booked for the night. When I arrived at 7:55, I had to wait till 8:35 to be seated; there were plenty of tables available which I found to be odd… I loved the romantic ambiance of this place and the red walls. The chairs are unbelievably comfortable which I enjoyed very much. We both got the lobster bisque and it was fantastic! For my entrée, I ordered the seabass and the other person ordered the filet mignon. The seabass was okay, it needs a little more flavor. The filet was absolutely amazing so if you are going there for Miami Spice go for the filet! We ordered both desserts, the brownie with icecream which was delicious and the key lime pie was also good, just a bit too sour for my taste. All in all it was a good experience!

5 stars all around! Great attentive not overbearing service. The menu is exquisite. A friend brought me here to celebrate both of our birthdays and I was so delighted to have been there. We both had their amazing Caesar salad with anchovies and it was delicious! Probably one of the best Caesar salads if not the best I’ve had! He ordered the Prime rib which was big enough to feed a small village! I did have a try of it and it was cooked to perfection! Very succulent flavor and tender! I went for the filet mignon and it was amazing too! As a side I tried the Crimini mushrooms which were very tasty and complimented the steaks perfectly! The piece of resistance, after all that delicious grub though, was the Baked Alaska which I have never had and was very excited to try after a description of it from my friend Lee. You must see the picture I took of it to really understand what I cannot describe precisely with words. It was a mountain(glacier) of cream torched table side and filled with Neapolitan Ice cream!!! OMG! It was heavenly and the presentation… amazing! I would without a doubt recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants great service, exquisite food and classy ambiance!

Best Miami Spice lunch deal! $ 23 for 3 courses, including filet mignon… I mean, wow. Here’s the thing, although it was a great deal, I don’t think I’ll rush back with the other great steakhouses in Miami. It’s great for Spice lunch, but I got my fill. I ordered the caesar salad, filet mignon, and key lime pie for dessert. The salad had too much dressing, but wasn’t terrible. If there was just a bit less dressing, it would’ve been great. My filet was cooked well and probably the best thing about the meal. The sides of mashed potatoes were pretty good– creamy and not bland. The spinach– ick. Half the portion of spinach was undercooked and the whole thing had zero flavor. No, thanks. The key lime pie was way too tart for my taste and the crust was tough to get through. Service was efficient, but a bit cold. I’ve heard Christy’s is great for special occasions, but I gotta say, it won’t be at the top of my list for the next one. The steak was good, potatoes were decent, and salad would’ve been great with light dressing, but this only seems to be worth it for the Miami Spice lunch deal.
