Be prepared to kayak through nasty and trashy water that will cover you at the end of the course. Bring plenty of water and food because you will need at least 3 hours to finish the river. Overall, Its okay, theres nothing special or scenic about this route. Its the trinity river! haha. I’ll probably return, but I’ll be sure to bring my fishing pole.

I rented from them on a late September day and had a nice paddle down the river This space is nice and open, with plenty of parking and they have a shop for picking up what ever you forgot to pack. Good staff(chatty and informative), the shop is clean and organized. I opted for The Blast on a single Kayak — about 2 – 3 hours for about $ 36 which includes a ride back. The river itself could use a little care(lots of trash and debris), but it’s wide and deep enough for a decent paddle. I saw some Cranes, turtles, and the fish seemed to want to jump into the Kayak(not a fishing trip for me). Didn’t see any snakes — yay! I got to the end of the and found the pickup point, which was well illustrated at the shop with accurate pictures and descriptions from the staff. I had a nice ride back with the owner, who is also a realtor so if you need a house after your paddle, he can set you up :-) I would do this again if I am ever in the area.

Took our two kayaks and rented an extra one today. Took the downriver option called The Blast. Pickup was quick and the staff helpful and knowledgeable. The downriver section is much cleaner than the up river section. Saw many different birds, fish jumping, turtles, squirrels and other water ‘critters’. We booked this online the night before and that made it easy when we arrived.

I’ve been twice now — once as part of a team building event and once with a friend visiting from out of town and both times were great! I was honestly a bit skeptical and was worried I might tip over and catch some sort of horrible disease from the Trinity, but honestly it was a a great time and I had alot of fun. I went out in a kayak both times(they apparently offer canoes as well) and I will say that I think I enjoyed the double over the single but that’s probably more a personal preference. The trip itself was really enjoyable. I saw quite a bit of wildlife both times and it was quite relaxing floating down the river. The paddling wasn’t difficult at all but I did get some not-so-fun blisters… you may want to consider some fingerless gloves(like you would wear for lifting) if you’re sensitive to that kind of thing. Sure it’s not cheap, but they handle any shuttling(taking you to the launch site or picking you up) and for a 2 – 3 hour«adventure» it’s more than reasonable. Staff was super friendly both times I was there and I definitely had no issues there even with the reservation I made online. Really a great setup and a unique experience that you wouldn’t expect in the middle of DFW. I’ll definitely be back!

It was a random Friday my parter and I had off. We went and grabbed breakfast and decided we wanted to do something new and different. I googled stuff to do, and these kayaks came up. Did a bit if research and since Trinity was the closest and decently priced, we decided to give it a go. We got there told them what we wanted, after hearing what the gentleman had to say, we paid and signed their waivers. We got two single kayaks and bottles of water, for about $ 80. We then got in the kayaks, didn’t event set foot in the river. After that, we took off. We relaxed in the shady parts of the river and paddled to try to beat each other to logs or splits in the river. It was quite fun. We saw cranes, robins, fireflies, turtles, and some fish. The atmosphere was very beautiful, considering our location in North Texas. We took a bunch of pictures and video with our phone. We had LTE access the whole time which allowed me to take, edit, and upload pictures on to Facebook while I was in the river. We checked in on FB too. It’s a pretty good opportunity to post something cool and different on social media. My butt did get tired, after all it’s a 2 – 3 hour ride while you sit, but that didn’t really bother me. The paddling is not as hard as it seems, I was only a bit sore after our trip. Once we got to the end, we took the kayaks up a short way, maybe 3 minutes up a tiny incline and called the guy to pick us up. It took maybe 7 – 9 minutes before he arrived. Overall, it was a great experience and provided for a new and different activity on a random boring day.

Great afternoon, in the middle of the city, my wife and I found a quiet serene environment to spend a few quality hours away from the chaos of life. This is a hidden gem and we will visit again soon. We were able to see birds, fish, turtles. Friendly helpful staff!

Came here with my girlfriend on a Sunday morning(before it was too hot). We did a two hour trip, not too intense but we went fast so it was a workout. I didn’t expect much since this is Dallas but there was a surprising amount of wildlife. The staff was wonderful too, they even recommended some good places to get lunch afterwards! We’ll be back!

What comes to mind when you hear«Trinity River»? If you think of the Trinity near Downtown Dallas, you probably think of a dirty, polluted river. But put your assumptions behind you and head north to the Elm Fork of the Trinity in Coppell! While you won’t find a pristine river, you will find am urban retreat that most D/FW residents aren’t even aware of. Your adventure starts at the Carrollton dam where the Trinity crosses under Sandy Lake Road. You can reserve your single or tandem kayak online but a reservation aren’t required. You save a few bucks on two people if you go with a tandem kayak. Personally, I preferred the independence of the solo kayak. I’m a tad competitive. The route takes a minimum of 2 – 3 hours and it’s a distance of about 5 miles. You’re heading downstream in a very calm current so paddling is required somewhat but there’s lots of opportunity to just go with the river’s flow. The staff will fit you with a life jacket and give you full directions for your pickup at the end of the path. At the end, they will load everything back up for the drive back to where you started and to recover your things. We came in a large group and we all had a really good time. The river is fairly murky but you won’t be drinking the water so don’t sweat it. Be prepared for a tiny bit of nature like cranes, small garden snakes, and turtles. If anything, it’s an excellent workout and a great group activity.

I came here with my boyfriend and was not impressed. The lady who helped us at the desk said they were sold out of double kayaks, which costs $ 62. We were forced to get two single kayaks which came to $ 72. So we went outside and turns out, they did have a double kayak, two of them actually, and the staff outside offered it to us. When we returned and ask for the price difference to be refunded, which was $ 10, the lady at the counter said«We don’t do that.» So we paid an extra $ 10 for nothing, and we bought a Trinity River Kayak Co. ball cap and bug spray from your store? Wow, talk about customer service huh? She even had the nerve afterwards to say…“Like Us on Facebook!” I’m sorry I had to write a bad review, but service recovery is something that should be practiced especially when charging so much for rentals and since many of the visitors are tourists… I am speechless I’ve worked in the hospitality industry before. This was an error on their part completely, and they did nothing… I wonder how many other tourists got ripped off. We were so upset. We asked for a military discount, and the lady at the counter had to «think» for a minute, and her answer was only for retired military members. What an insult to active or reserved military members, considering that Dallas has a huge military presence. We weren’t looking for anything free, but I felt like we were getting nickeled and dimed. We both have good paying positions within the military. As for the river itself, this was something less to be desired. The river is covered in trash, and has actual spillage from the sewer. They do not warn you of this. There were plastic bottles, trash, paper cups, and worst of all… the smell of rotten garbage. I was praying we wouldn’t tip over as the water was disgusting. The only wildlife we saw were a bunch of storks. You will be kayaking under the freeway underpass… lots of traffic noise… not at all with nature. Please also be warned that this is not for beginners, be prepared for 3 hours of straight kayaking with no wind. There is only one pathway, so no turning around until you finish the course. I got heat stroke in the end. Pack plenty of water, mosquito repellent and sunscreen with a hat, no joke. I also recommend a pair of good sneakers, not flip flops as you have to carry your canoe on a path that has rocks and a steep hill. Don’t wear your nicest clothes either, as the paddles will splash dirty water on you. I don’t recommend for children, as even the most simplest route is quite long. Good luck on getting a bathroom break… I’m an avid exerciser, but this was just pure torture. Save your money and go kayaking in Hawaii, at least you can come back to shore and the water and scenery is clean.

My wife and I went out a few weeks ago and had fun. The guys were very friendly and knowledgable. It was a bit long(3 hours) but a good workout. I wish folks in DFW took better care of the Trinity.

Living in the suburbs and think the only way you can get to nature is to go to the local park? You are wrong. Trinity River Kayak Co to the rescue. They offer Kayak and Canoe trips down the Elm Fork of the Trinity River. Rental prices are well worth the adventure you have ahead of you and provides several options including: single person kayak, tandem kayak and canoe. If you already have a kayak or a canoe, you can still utilize their shuttle service. Shuttle service takes you to the launch points if you don’t launch from their property and pick you up when you are finished. Their convenience store has all the essentials you need(drinks, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, etc.) if you forget anything or want if you did not feel like packing anything. I have only been a few times but intend to make kayaking trips via TRKC recurring on my calendar. Favorite trip to date is The Blast which I did a few weeks ago. I saw a lot of great nature along the way including: turtles, ducks, cranes, coyotes, a bear(just kidding) and a bird that I swear was waiting for me to keel over so it could eat me(see in the pictures). Average trip down the river for me is 2 hours. It’s a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and get back to nature without having to leave town. Now get out there and start enjoying nature! See you on the river.
