Scott Vanderhoof is a treasure! I went in recently with a snow rake that had lost a bolt. He got me the right parts to fix it and proceded to fix it right there while I waited. All the while having a friendly conversation. He is so excellent with customer service and has helped me with many projects. His store is also like a piece of Concord history, they have been on Main Street since the horse and carriage days. Love this store!

Concord, MA
This is your classic local True Value hardware store, the kind of place where you can buy anything from a hammer to a toaster oven. The customer service is just outstanding — it’s the kind of place where you can walk in with a problem and walk out with a solution (not just directions to aisle 14). Four generations have kept this place in business since 1904, and I’ll go here and pay a couple bucks more than Target or Home Depot any day of the week to help keep it in business.
Any day of the week, that is, except for Sunday. Or after 5:30. That’s my only complaint — I love to shop local, but with hours like 8:30 — 5:30, Monday-​Saturday, it’s hard for a working professional to get to Vanderhoof while it’s still open…
