This little gem of a spot offers food like your mamma would make you. I come here as often as I can for my fix. I finally got to try their breakfast this morning with my daughters. My pancakes were huge and fluffy, with a side of home fries! My girls got eggs with home fries & toast! The owner & staff are wonderful people. Service is great. I highly recommend this classic spot in West Concord.

I would love to love this place, but I do not. The food is tired, the service is slow, the place is understaffed and the owner seems more concerned with protecting parking spaces 24÷7÷365 then with making a decent meal. With the right management and staff this place could be so good, and would be packed every day.

Best breakfast in town in a historic train depot. Excellent service, quick and efficient.

There is something about the Railroad Café that is very special. The word that I would give it is «authentic.» This is a perfect place to relax and enjoy comfort food! The atmosphere is small town, not because it was crafted that way by a distant designer, but because it IS. The owner takes pride in a business that has been a go to place for locals and visitors to West Concord for many years. His daughter who greets you and asks for your order is delightful. The model train that circles above entertains the children and brings smiles to the adults as well. I like ordering dishes with childhood memories attached, french toast, scrambled eggs with rye toast, a tuna sandwich on toast with lettuce and a sliced tomato, generous and yummy! If you want the real deal, small town America is rapidly fading… this is the place to go!

I’m soooo disappointed to give the Club Car this rating but I must. My cousin and I went for breakfast and yes, we’ve been there a few times but I must say, I will never return and I’m sad to say. The quality of food and preparation has gone straight to the dogs. We ordered coffee, scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries, hash and toast. The coffee was weak, the eggs barely warm and my bacon tasted like it had gone bad, and worst of all, the home fries were dark in color and shriveled up as though they had been left over for days in the fridge and re-heated. The server took the plates to our table with the toast covering the potatoes, as though we would notice how they looked! The cook was standing at the counter as though he was waiting to see if we’d even comment. We called the server over she could see the potatoes and at that point she commented that she was sorry and that she’d get fresh order out to us. That took several minutes so in the meanwhile, I finished eating the eggs and toast which was just about all I could do at that point. I also noticed that the dishwasher had the dirtiest shirt on and the cook kept wiping his brow with his hands, then went back to the kitchen(gross). I don’t like sending anything back to the kitchen or lodging a complaint about food because I watch those shows on television where people do horrible things to your food. Sadly, I will not return.

Love love love saw this place on Phantom Gourmet and I had to try the turkey club. This place is great for breakfest and lunch big portions and a fair price. The owner who is always availible even came over to our table check on us. I drive over an hour to get there and that club was worth it turkeys are roasted every day and fries are hand cut you won’t find any slimy turkey here also my kids loved it they have a train set that goes around the inside.

Home made Tomato sauce, savory and sweet. Three blends of top quality cheese. Home spun crust. All baked in a Blodgett with that beautiful fold in half and eat thin crust. Thank Goodness! I found someone local that knows how to make real Pizza

I had a «Kitchen Nightmares» experience here that needs to be shared. Let’s first start off with the curdled cream in the tasteless burnt coffee and the dirty mug it all resided in. Fine. My son was enjoying the train as it chugged along the walls. As I looked around the ¾ empty restaurant during peek brunch time, I noticed the«where is my freakin’ food?!» faces. Not surprised. Next onto the sausage and cheddar omelette. Years ago we used to drive from Maynard and this was my staple Sunday breakfast. Not anymore. The(legit) COLD English Muffin had a bizarre chemical(mold?) taste, the diced sausages were shriveled, burnt, and quite obviously very old, the potatoes were cold(but admittedly not horrible), but the cheese, oh god, the cheese. It was congealed and rubbery. Not normal, not at all normal. I ordered«one pancake and a strip of bacon» for my 3 year old. Yep — 3 huge pancakes, home fries, and 3 strips of bacon arrived. The waitress didn’t even flinch as she shamelessly slid this behemoth plate to my toddler. Hilarious. If you decide to brave it and come here under this current management, I would recommend just getting the pancakes or waffle. I wound up just eating that instead. For city commuters who want a to go coffee and a muffin, have at it. But I won’t step foot here again until there’s ownership turnover.

Love, Love, Love this quirky, fun, historic café. Great place for lunch or to relax with coffee and a muffin before catching the train to Boston. Plan on going back regularly.

The Club Car is a great family restaurant, place to have business lunches, or coffee and muffins. Unlike most places, the chili has flavor and spice, the hot sauce selection is great, and we never leave hungry. Ron’s meatloaf, pulled pork, pastrami, and North End style pizza are the best in town. Great place to take kids for a meal, with toys available if the young ones forgot theirs. We have never had a problem with the service. Their catering service provides excellent food at a reasonable price.

It was freezing in this place! I ordered hash, eggs over easy with hash browns and toast. The eggs came scrambled, the hash was totally burnt and inedible, toast was barely toasted and the potatoes were crap! Definitely won’t be back!

If I could give a rating just based on ‘cuteness of atmosphere,’ The Club Car would get a 5. Not only does the renovated train station feature station benches for seating, but an electric train is set up to run the perimeter of the dining room overhead, and since it sits RIGHT on the tracks of the West Concord station, we saw 2 or 3 trains go by. LOVE that you can-in theory– hop right off the train and into this café. Very cool. The food earned 3 stars, not because it’s bad, but because it’s pretty average for a little breakfast place. Although diverse, the menu is not dripping in creativity. I had 2 eggs, homefries and toast and it was good. Just not over-the-top delicious. My friend had an omelet and said the same. We also split a grilled pistachio muffin, and that was stand out good. *however, if you are particular about your breakfast potatoes(as I am) The Club Car has homefries(NOT hashbrowns, as another post says) and they are very tasty. All in all an enjoyable breakfast. Next time I’m looking for a typical good breakfast in a really quaint and unique atmosphere, I’d definitely come back!

Okay I came here after work. I thought okay this is gonna be just as good as when I was a kid.NOT. I got a omelet and it was disgusting. It looked like a previous person said like they forgot to put the stuff on it and melted it in the microwave. The homefries weren’t that great and the corn beef Hash was over cooked and not edible. The toast tasted disgusting and the service was horrible. I kept getting looks from the servers and I am thinking didn’t I just pay you fifteen dollars what the hell are the looks for I am not someone strange. I will NOT be going there again ever

Three of us had lunch we all had salads. Egg salad, chief salad, & chicken salad. All the lettuce was fresh, large salad and dressing on side. I had coffee served in a real mug. He does not serve breakfast after 11 am, too bad because I did want breakfast for lunch. Very friendly place, chief and owner Ron came over to talk to us. He’s has been here for 20 years and has been on the Phantom Gourmet three times. It was excellence we will return.

Great breakfast at great prices. I ordered my eggs sunny side up, and they came out sunny side up! Outstanding!(Really, you wouldn’t believe what I’ve seen…) Bacon was great, hashbrowns were great, pancakes were great. My «Big Breakfast» plus coffee plus tax came to less than $ 10. Yummm. Yes please, I’ll have another. Only four stars, because our server was visibly irritated when I asked for more cream for my coffee.

While it’s still a cute place, the service was seriously lacking, yesterday, when we came in. The counter girls clearly hadn’t been trained well, or gave a care. And Sweeties Cheese omelet had a huge glob of cheese just melted on top. It’s like they forgot the cheese when they made it, and then added it on top, and melted it in the oven or microwave. There was more cheese than egg. It was a huge glob. Not very enticing. My BLT was fine, though. And the trains weren’t running, either.:(

Decent diner type place to get a very inexpensive hot breakfast on a cold morning before boarding the West Concord inbound or lunch on a Saturday. All of their food is extremely reasonable. They are very flexible making substitutes,(i.e. fries for coleslaw.) It is the best cheese burger in the area. My only nitpick is that the«to go» coffee is served in styrofoam not paper cups. This is the type of laid back place where I feel like I am welcome to linger and read the newspaper, with my meal. The owner is extremely kind allowing patrons to sit or stand inside the restaurant until their train arrives. For this, I have gratitude, especially on the coldest winter mornings.
