This is a very reliable Cantonese restaurant. We visit the area twice a year and this is one of our regular eating places. They offer fast, friendly service, good portion sizes at reasonable prices. The room is spacious, with never a wait for a table. Noise has never been a problem.

This place has been our family favorite for basically forever!!! I moved out of state for over a decade and just recently moved back. My parents are regulars here and just brought me back… It’s a time capsule lol it hasn’t changed and the owner knows our family so well we pretty much just sit down and they know what we’re going to order! Great service, pricing is ideal for great food! Lunch menu is even better!!!

Don’t be turned off by the building’s façade! Shan Shan Low is a lot better than a lot of the nicer looking Asian restaurants in Pleasant Hill, Concord, or Downtown Walnut Creek. The food is excellent, the portions are large and the staff there is incredibly accommodating. Neighboring Ranch 99 gets really busy on weekends and the parking lot is a little packed. If parking is totally crazy, turn toward Fry’s and drive around to the back; there’s more parking behind the restaurant.

Been coming here since I can remember… literally I’ve got memories coming with my dad & I was less than 10 years old for sure. that’s well over 12 years I’ve been coming here. Don’t trust me though, you know they’ve gotta be doing something right to be in business for so long. Recently visited this place after many years and the lunch special was just awesome, everything was delicious & the price was the best part.

Even though this place can get a bit pricey when ordering for a family, they still have some of the best Chinese food in Concord. We hadn’t been there in awhile because it is easier to call in a delivery order, but after last night, I was reminded why I always use to go out of my way to drive here vs. ordering delivery from Chinese Kitchen or Mann’s. A lot of Chinese restaurants have changed there ingredients or recipes and now there food is just ok, some of it so bland and blah you question yourself why you continue to order from there, like the delivery places we have used. You wont get that when you order from Shan Shan Low, they have amazing Chinese Food!! It was quick, hot, fresh and so flavorful. I definitely recommend there honey walnut prawns… oh my god they were so good! Thank you Shan Shan low for an amazing dinner last night. We will always return :)

Love this place drive all the way from Napa to get our Chinese food fix. Try the dry string beans it’s a little spicy but once you try it you will want more.

The absolut best wor won ton soup! I grew up in Pleasant Hill but now I live in Oakland. When I’m feeling under the weather I will make the drive out just for their soup! Also like that they have a dinner for one with options rather then pre selected dishes.

I have been going to this restaurant for years. It has never disappointed. Service is always great and the food comes out fast. Prices are reasonable as well. I always get mandarin fried chicken, which is awesome! Broccoli beef, assorted chow mein, fried rice and the walnut prawns are all very good. Highly recommended

Let’s see… I went for lunch and The price is right. Good portion sizes. Lunch was 7.50 and comes with your entrée, with rice, an egg roll and the soup of the day(If you eat there? To go orders don’t get the soup). I would give four stars because of the killer deal and amount of food. Food quality was fine. Didn’t blow my skirt up, but enjoyable. I loved the tea. Service was slow and with no personality. But that wasn’t too shocking. All in all. I’ll be back. I’ll update my review after another visit.

Found this place to have excellent food and speedy service. Have eaten here many, many times for lunch both for work and individually. Service is fast, the food tasty and authentic Chinese-American fare. The menu is large, so I admit I have not tried every item. The individual lunch specials prices are totally awesome, Even when ordering as a group family-style, the costs are totally reasonable. I am usually a big carnivore foodie(i.e. I prefer the dishes that have some type of protein) but I am amazed to admit they have some awesome vegetarian dishes! The Dry Cooked String Beans are so tasty you don’t even miss the meat! Their Hot and Sour soup is also great, as well as the usual seafood dishes, broccoli beef, sweet n sour pork, beef chow fun, all the chow mein’s, the pot stickers(all appetizers actually) etc. are also great choices. I could go on and on(and don’t want to bore ya!), but I will ju say I have enjoyed everything I have eaten here so far. I am not giving it five stars, not for anything in particular, only because all my top Chinese restaurants to date, rate that high. I recommend this place to anyone wanting good solid Chinese food and reasonable prices.

This is one of my favorite places to go to! The environment is wonderful, and the waiter is friendly. I love their food, and it’s affordable. There is a romantic spot for cute dates, where there is bamboo and tiny lights. It’s definitely a place you should try out!

Great food! I stumbled upon this place during my lunch hour and was very pleased with the food. I’ve gotten off of the lunch menu, curry chicken, sweet and sour chicken, sweet and sour pork, lemon chicken, foil wrap chicken, and beef & broccoli. When we ate there, we were given won ton soup and egg rolls. The only thing I didn’t care for was the combo egg foo yung only because they put the meat on top of the egg patties instead of inside, but the sauce was excellent. I’ve brought co-workers with me as well. They have a loyal customer in me.

My favorite Chinese food spot growing up! I went recently after years of missing the business hours and I was not disappointed. My friends also went and they were also pleasantly pleased with their meals. We ordered hot and sour soup, honey prawns, Mongolian beef, chow fun, sweet and sour pork, and a few other items. Their signature staple that I grew up always ordering is the Mandarin Chicken. It’s chicken with the perfect hint of spices and spiciness. I LOVE it. I use to come here once a week and order that because the portions are excellent. Now mind you, I am use to spicy so the tiny chili peppers do not phase me if I take a bite however to the average person… well it can be kind of a surprising kick so always ask! Those pepper symbols next to items aren’t there just for decoration. LOL. My friend ate one accidentally and had to guzzle down a pitcher of water. Hehe, so funny!

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for years!!! The lemon chicken is my fav followed by the salt and pepper pork chops. They also have great combination fried rice with plenty of shrimp. This spot is also a family favorite when we don’t feel like cooking on holidays.

Why did it take so long for me to eat at Shan Shan Low? I go to the Puke ‘n Shop a lot. Many Unilocalers say that it’s their regular go-to spot for Chinese food. I ate there this afternoon with lots of friends from my hunny’s church, many who said that the place is typically packed with people who go straight from the service to Shan Shan Low. And today was my first day there. Hmmmm… Well, I was broken in today. Okay. It’s not a knock-you-out sort of restaurant. Quite typical Chinese restaurant. Clean, white paper tablecloths, entrees are written in both Mandarin and English with a pepper designating the hot & spicy food, chopsticks are provided. The kind of restaurant that you could go to once a week, as comfortable as an old shoe. And it does have good hearty food. I had the Mandarin fried chicken, and yep, it was spicy. My tablemate shared a honey-mayonnaise prawn with me, my wife had the sweet-and-sour pork and gave me the cooked veggies that she couldn’t eat. All were good. And the bill was small — I like that! The only downside was that the fortune in the cookie I got said«Eat your fruits and vegetables» — oh no, is Moochelle O invading this restaurant? Shan Shan Low is not a Destination; it’s a reliable place that you can visit regularly, a 925 Chinese version of Seinfeld’s Monk’s Restaurant. I’m surprised that it took me so long to discover it.
