John A Ambrosino, DPM

When I was a patient of Dr. Ambrosino I was pressured weekly by him to write a Unilocal review. It was awful. But not as awful as the PERMANENT DAMAGE Dr. Ambrosino did to my foot. I found out from other podiatrists that the method Dr. Ambrosino used was not in my best interest… but put a lot of money in his pocket and left my foot disabled. Ask around before you let him inject you with alcohol because other doctors were shocked that I was injected so many times (these were excruciatingly painful and unnecessary but very expensive). I highly question these other reviews wondering how many of these were honest or under the watchful eye of this doctor. The only nice thing to know about choosing this doctor is now I get handicapped parking and so may you!

Thank you, Dr. Ambrosino! You have helped me with my unruly toe and my future mother-​in-​law can walk again without any pain! It’s like night and day the difference that you have made!

Well I’ve been dealing with foot issues and heel pain for about 5+yrs and after multiple doctors and a failed surgery I’m feeling like some progress is being made. I started off with a Kaiser doctor who shot me up with cortisone and that didn’t really help my problem and after that my plantar fascia tendon tore. Kaiser did a surgical release and my problem got worse. They said they did all they could and after 2 more cortisone shots in both feet they sent me to what they call «chronic pain class» to learn how to deal with foot my pain. Finally now I just had a second surgery performed by Dr Ambrosino and have some relief. The pain prior to my surgery completely changed my life and I felt like I’d never get better but now my thought process is not totally being consumed by my pain. This being said I would highly recommend Dr Ambrosino as a great podiatrist and I’m looking forward to be able to get back to work sometime and a degree of normalcy in my life.

Dr. Ambrosino has taken care of my daughter Kerianne after a horrible accident causing her extreme pain to her foot. She had been sent away by 2 previous Doctors who stated that her foot «was not broken» and sent her on her way. Dr. Ambrosino took care to figure out what was wrong and how to help relieve her pain and help to truly manage her symptoms which were becoming increasingly worse by the day. We are grateful for his knowledge, compassionate care and expertise to his field. We would highly recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Ambrosino and his staff are all very professional. This is a business that sees a lot of people with foot problems and is very well-​established. The building/​office and exam rooms are a little on the old side but are certainly more than adequate. Ambrosino seems to have a pretty good reputation and makes quality orthotics. Would definitely return to this office. Be advised though that they do schedule you for many follow up appointments (that are 10 minutes each) that add up if you have a high co-​pay /​deductible or are paying out-​of-​pocket. So ask up front how many visits will be required for your treatment so you know what to expect financially. Ambrosino has recommended that I consider both Cortizone shots and the alcohol sclerosing shots for my neuromas, but so far I am not convinced that I must go either of these routes. But if and when I do, I will go back to Dr. Ambrosino!

I am a diabetic and there are not enough adjectives in the English language to express the high regard I have for this individual and the work that he does. I met him the first of the year, at a time when my feet were in such a poor condition that the Dr seriously considered sending me immediately to the hospital across the street but delayed it until he could get a better evaluation of how I was going to respond to his treatments (Which, by the way, saved me thousands of dollars of medical bills that would have been associated with being in the hospital). When I first entered the exam room, the Dr had an assistant that had a computer profile of me to which the DR had them add his medical comments. This practice of detailing the condition of each one of my ulcers, from measuring the size, condition and a whole lot of other medical jargon, which he meticulously has updated with each visit.
I have been to numerous Podiatrists over my lifetime and have never been given the attention and the professional guidance that Dr. Ambrosino has provided me over these last six months. His staff are the most caring and attentive people that I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with.
ANYBODY with any type of foot issues owes it to themselves to make an appointment with Dr. Ambrosino and experience on a first hand basis the QUALITY, KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE that the good Dr. can provide you.

I’ve seen at least 6 Podiatrists over my 30 years of life, and Dr. Ambrosino is by far the best Physician I’ve encountered. Instead of merely treating the symptom of my problem, Dr. Ambrosino and his staff took a considerable amount of time to understand the history behind the recurring problems I’ve had with my feet. He identified a number of issues that I didn’t even know I was suffering from, and he has developed a plan of action which will actually treat the cause of my ailments, and not the symptoms. The solutions are cost effective and non-​invasive. Unlike the first person to review this Physician, I have had nothing but positive experiences with the entire staff — they are most certainly professional, and as someone in the medical garment industry, I can assure you that they are most definitely dressed appropriately for a Physician’s office.
While I hope to not have need of Dr. Ambosino’s services again, should that need arise, I will not think twice regarding picking up the phone to call him.

I had a bad spill after tripping over a tripod at work. At first I thought it was just a sprain and didn’t think much of it. My first visit with Dr John Ambrosino, he right away made me realize the severity of my injury. The x-​rays and various tests indicated that my Achilles’ Tendon had been dislodged and thus required surgery in order to be reattached. A piece of bone had even chipped off from the heel and was now going up my leg since it was still stuck to the tendon. The doctor was very thorough and clear in explaining to me what had happened and what needed to be done. He earned my trust immediately as someone who knew what he was talking about.
After that first visit, I talked about my condition to a couple of friends who have had similar injuries. They kept insisting that I find an orthopedic surgeon instead. But after careful consideration and another visit with Dr Ambrosino, I decided to stick with the good doctor. I’m so happy I made that decision.
I had my surgery on Feb 19 at the nearby John Muir Hospital. As someone who has a low threshold for pain, I was expecting the worst. One of my friends was telling me beforehand that the first three days after the operation would have me crying and writhing in pain. I had psyched myself up for a trip to hell!
Amazingly, there was hardly any pain at all. I did follow the advice to anticipate the pain and ward it off by taking my Vicodin ahead of time; or Percoset if I was starting to feel pain coming on. I ended up taking less than 20 Vicodins and just two Percosets throughout the entire post-​op period.
I also later found out that Dr Ambrosino used a modern Swiss surgical technique that allowed him to avoid most of the nerve endings during the incision — thus less pain during the healing process.
As it turned out, the worst part of the post-​operation period was the constipation! LOL. Nothing that two tablets of Dulcolax didn’t fix in just a few hours.
It’s been a little over a month since the surgery. This afternoon, during my visit with Dr Ambrosino, I saw my incision for the first time. My incision had healed perfectly. Tomorrow I go back to work and will even get rid of one, if not both, of my crutches.
I have to give props to the entire team as well: Anthony, Mary, Aubrey and Jackie. They’re always so helpful, friendly, and understanding. Overall, Dr Ambrosino and his wonderful team made the whole experience painless and stress-​free. You could not put a price on that. From the bottom of my heart… and foot… thank you, Dr Ambrosino and Team!!!

Dr. Ambrosino diagnosed and treated my foot pain over the past 6 weeks or so. I could not be happier with the results. Pain Free! The Dr. and staff were professional, courteous, and very informative when it came to the diagnosis and treatment options as well as the insurance and payment aspects of my treatment. I could not be happier with the care and service Dr. Ambrosino and his staff have provided.

I don’t know what the first reviewer is talking about but I had an awesome experience. I’ve had terrible pain in my Achilles Tendon since March and finally decided to get looked at. I was debating between a sports medicine person and a podiatrist; I decided to go with a podiatrist since my issue was exclusively my foot.
At first, I thought their new patient health history thing was a bit too much/​intrusive but now I understand that it’s so they can figure out EXACTLY what your ailment is. The staff was very nice and professional. I got an evaluation, an x-​ray, a corticosteroid shot, and was out in a little over an hour. I felt the doctor really cared about fixing my excruciating tendonitis and did an awesome job pinpointing the pain/​inflamation. I hate needles and injections but he and the assistant made me feel comfortable and did an excellent job. They gave me a bunch of resources to help my foot heal (stretching, new shoe guide, etc.) and Dr. Ambrosino even called me the next day to see how everything was going.
Overall, I had great experience and would recommend this office to anyone seeking relief from sports injuries, foot pain, etc.

Completely different experience from the previous reviewer. They got me in quickly, diagnosed the issue, and did a minor surgery and fixed it on the spot. Very happy with the time and attention they gave me, both doctor and staff were great at patiently listening and explaining all of my options. Also, I’m kind of a big baby with pain. and they were gentle and understanding. :)

Dr. Ambrosino is great! Very friendly and intelligent, one of the best doctors I have ever been to. He and his staff are all knowledgeable in how to work with workman’s comp. They all worked very hard for me to have the best possible outcome. A++

I was very impressed when I arrived for my appointment to find the front office staff so friendly and welcoming. Dr. Ambrosino was thorough and very detailed while explaining my condition and spent the time with me that was needed. He was not in a rush and invited any questions I might have had. I feel I was well taken care of in Dr. Ambrosino’s office.

Absolutely as good as it gets! Dr. A is kind and gracious. He is the kind of doctor that I had as a child. He asks questions, answers questions and obviously enjoys getting to know his patients. He is a true professional. Dr. Ambrosino peformed surgery on my achilles tendon using brand new technology with graft jackets. It is completely healed and stronger than ever. He is thorough and always asks the hard questions; streching? exercising? He has a vested interest in the patients recovery.
Did I say he is kind? He recently opened his office on a holiday weekend to look at my foot after an injury. The office staff reflects Dr. A’s kind nature as well. They handled everything from insurance inquiry to hospital after care and physical therapy. I was well taken care of and I am grateful. I would and DO recommend Dr. Ambrosino to all my friends and family!

Review for Dr. Ambrosino — Dr. Ambrosino has a terrific ‘bedside’ manner. He is thorough, patient, calm, and very knowledgeable. He is always willing to fully explain any issue I may be having… or afraid I may be having.
I experienced his talents with my spouse (who had extensive Achilles tendon repair) as well as with my own foot issues.
He has always been very approachable, very accessible, and most importantly, a very skilled surgeon and podiatrist.
Review for the staff and facility — the facility is it’s own building, so there is a dedicated parking lot… so you don’t have to compete for parking with 20 other medical offices. It is located directly across from the hospital… which is comforting to know. Though they have their own X-​ray machine, so you don’t have to go to hospital or other facility to get the necessary X-​rays.
The staff gets to know their patients… it’s a family atmosphere. Not a cold, unfeeling environment. The staff takes an interest in their patients’ wellbeing.

My entire family, myself included have been going to Dr. Ambrosino for a number of years now due to different foot related problems. I absolutely love it there and the staff is top notch, professional and extremely friendly.
Being a type 1 diabetic, I have to be very careful with my feet and Dr. Ambrosino is top notch when it comes to his knowledge about foot care! He has treated numerous issues I have had with my feet and I feel very comfortable in his care.
The office staff is very professional and always greets you as you walk in! I would definitely recommend Dr. Ambrosino if you are looking for a great foot doctor.

I would definately recommend this center to family and friends. They make you feel welcome and they are there to help you get better. I have been going here for a few years now. It’s hard to find good doctors that actually want to help you get better and care about you.

Reception staff at times were not very professional in their dress or demeanor. The doc did not take a lot of time to ask me questions or explain things sometimes he would talk like I wasn’t in the room. I felt as though he did not have my best interest at heart and did not explore all treatment options with me. i got a second opinion which turned out to negate the treatment plan he had suggested.
