I’ve read several reviews about Oli’o an the neg. was spot on. On FEB27. The wife an I was looking for a place to eat .We don’t usually eat at a spaghetti house, she don’t like eating heavy at night, me on the other hand I’m a Italian food junky. A 99 cents frozen pizza an I’ll complain all the way through it. But not that night. First we cruised the Boulevard an couldn’t find a place that didn’t have the parking lot full an waiting on line to get in. I convinced the wife let’s eat Italian! even a pizza parlor. Hey! Lots of them are special not so much glamor but lots of taste. Got to Oli’o an barely anyone except for a group of 8 – 10 men, an a fam. Of 4 were dining in. Ok this might do! We noticed the place wasn’t as clean as you would like, plus it was well worn A place on the wall wasn’t finished with paint in a small corner obvious to those sitting. Our table seem attached to the wall with dried glue as if someone was trying to glue it to the wall but the glue was all over the wall very Unfinished disheveled look. Things weren’t as wiped down well, the floors needed to be stripped an cleaned. Baseboards left dirty by dirty mops an left to dry, plus not hand cleaned. Seats were reupholstered by a amateur. With the wrong material. I was in the janitorial business. The reflection of the business is the condition of the floor. If it’s not clean an cared for you image the kitchen. Need I go on! Now about the food. We received a dish, sort of antipasto style, served cold, actually room temperature. The combinations of veg. We’re not the type to be served that way, so it seemed. they should have been served warm(not hot) .The heat would have given each veg it distinct flavor. giving the dish a more robust flavor an letting the herbs an spice to bloom in the food. Cold or Room temperature seems to make the onions are the dish, not the combo of other thing in it. Not saying it was bad, That’s just my take on it! The breads they gave with it would be tastier if fresh but were dry an hard as if sitting in the warmer for hours or yesterday’s bread reheated. The round bread balls were perfect, must have just finished baking or store fresh. We were given dishes for this but they were dirty. Crusted with food even after the dishwasher. The other was greasy. They did change them but still greasy .The napkin /towel was dirty as if someone shook out a previously used an rolled back up. Then after the waitress returned with new towels I open mine to find a foot long hair. That flipped out the wife. An the waitress, Neither my wife’s, waitress or I have long hair or that color. Now the meal! I ordered the lasagna.(supposedly most popular) the wife’s was a trio. chicken parm, shrimp, veal. The sauce was bland, flat in flavor. As mine was. In fact it seemed the both were the same sauce. My plate came out looking as if it were 2 pieces of lasagna with sauce some cheese an ground beef .an lots of water. Wasn’t layered or firm just one soupy mix. You tilt the plate an watery sauce was running off the plate.(look at the picture.) I thought a lasagna dish was a meat dish? With lasagna an cheese. Who else would agree with me? It was that way In my Italian family. Pasta an sauce, no meat was another dish we had, before the lasagna. This was the triditional sunday dinner from our table. Different strokes for different folks I would guess. I sampled the wife’s plate it seemed dried out, overcooked crusty edges with sauce, meat was beaten so flat(a tenderizeing Technique) it was paper thin. More bread crumbs than meat. Also no taste. Seems like the only thing it had going for itself, it was made with tomato sauce. But in this case that didn’t help it. The results of so many things going wrong, we were comp. the entire check that we didnt eat, or chose not to eat. We still tipped the waitress well, as if we did pay., after all she’s not to blame for poor food or management. She’s the reason we are giving one star. That’s for her ! she did her best under the circumstances. Might I say, if a place doesn’t have much business on a Fri night at peak dinner time like others on the Boulevard do. That might say something! Ps. We went up the street an grabbed a slice at Macy’s mall before it closed. Preferably the next place will try.

my favorite place for Italian food in Commack. Chicken night and pasta night are both great deals. Chicken parm is delicious. Pizza selection is extensive.

My friends dad works near them in the shopping center, I only go there for pizza, the pizzas are okay but I just wish they wouldn’t put to much cheese on them and the crust is burnt and hard(bad for my braces) then my friend call me saying that she saw some of the workers in the back dumping buckets of vegetable oil on HER. DAD’S. CAR. ;(like what the hell?! Who does that, I told her she has to confront them but her dad wouldn’t let her b/c he doesn’t want to cause tension between them, I felt soooo bad so I’m only giving you guys a 3

Food and service always great. Monday is pasta night. Lots of parking. Generous portions almost guarantee leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Great catering and food in general. Pizza is good, they have a lot of specialty slices to choose from also.

Ate here last night… Food was good and our waitress was lovely. Just a few tips however for management. The bottle of wine was brought to the table and all three glasses were poured before we even had an opportunity to taste it. Our meals were suddenly brought to the table by a bus boy but we had yet to receive our soup or salad! Our waitress came over and apologized. My salad came and was loaded with croutons. I had asked for none. Dinner was very good. At the end of the meal I asked for a glass of sambuca. It was brought in a big tall water glass. It would look so much better in a nice brandy glass with a few coffee beans. It’s the little things that count and make you feel like you’ve found something special. More training is needed here for the wait staff.

Best buffalo chicken pizza. I never ate buffalo slices until now. Food is great. We’ve had salads, pastas and other slices here and have devoured them all. Great food!

just got home from enjoying a lovely dinner at Olio. I was seated quickly, and the place was surprisingly busy for a hot summer night. I was served with a smile and my waitress was very attentive. I ordered the skirt steak special at the suggestion of my server, and I was not disappointed! The steak was cooked perfectly and the vegetable risotto was refreshingly delicious. It was nice to see that there are still local places that not only serve great food but are also affordable. I would definitely recommend Olio to families looking for a night out, girls night out, even date night. Absolutely one of my favorites.

Whenever we need a low-key place to grab dinner, we head to Olio’s. The prices are very reasonable(we can eat dinner for under $ 30), and unless it’s a weekend, it’s never overly crowded. The waitstaff is friendly and keeps our glasses filled. My husband is addicted to their spaghetti & meatballs. I like their lasagna, pasta primavera and their pizza. We fight over the bread too. We love a few places on Long Island for Italian(including Emilio’s), but Olio’s is definitely our midweek«we’re too tired to cook, want good food, but want to keep it reasonable» stop.

First time here. You need to invest in a water filter to kill the clorine taste. Using lemon and limes in the water pitcher is a digusting way to hide the taste. You cook in it too which is a crime. This set the mood for me. Shame. I had high hopes. Oh. Almost forgot the food. Your phoning it in. Get your act together. Good not great. Shame.

This is your typical pizza place with restaurant on the other side. What isnt typical is the pizza or the restaurant food. Both are some of the best in the area. Its nothing fancy, but the food is very good all around. Looking to grab a slice this is one of my favorite stops. Lunch or dinner time results in many different varieties of pizza available. These are slices from large 18 inch pies, not the smaller 16 inch pies which some local places have downsized to. Chicken parm dinner is excellent with past al dente the way it should be. Garlic knots served warm topped with olive oil/butter and parm cheese are terrific versus standard bread at many places. Sausage and broccoli rabe over pasta was very good. Weekday chicken specials are very good too. They serve warm zeppoles sliced with cannoli cream in the middle for dessert. Great stuff.

Very Poor Experience, Place is aging, cushions in booths are cracked, the menus are sticky and tired. Plates are chipped and some are tired. Drinks: I ordered a Stella, came out in a bottle, and glass was dirty… server/busboy gave me a grunt, no words, felt like I was disturbing him Appetizer — Fried calamari, was good not over cooked. Garlic knots where warm but sliced Sicilian pizza was ice cold Salad, Cold, but blue cheese dressing was bland and tasted cheap like no frills from grocery store. Dinner– I ordered Chicken with warm balsamic, fresh tomatoes, and mozzarella,… It came out pounded thin, and fried to death and COLD not even warm, I actually think it had more breading on it then chicken, Overall I hated it, GF ordered a trio with 1 shrimp, veal, chicken and eggplant, came out barely warm, cheese not melted. It was ok Waitress was nice, and told of the cold dish, she apologized but that’s as far as it went, she went back to sit on her stool and text. Staff, seems like no one wanted to be there, if you say anything they just grunt. Left with what was left from my food, but probably just chuck it in the garbage. Manager/Chef/Cook need to open his/her eyes and see the sub par food being served and have friendlier staff,

Sorry Marcello Mannino this restaurant isn’t what it once was. Let me preface by saying this restaurant used to be AMAZING! It has severely declined in recent years. My husband and 3 year old decided to come here for dinner on Saturday 2÷28÷15, and it was packed!(good sign!) We were seated right away which was awesome. Not so awesome was right by the drafty window with a space heater blowing cold air right next to us… :-/Our waitress came over and took our drink order and we didn’t see our drinks for 10 – 15 minutes later. Not on her, they had someone else delivering drinks. Then we place our orders. This is where everything goes downhill, and FAST! We didn’t see our salad for 45 minutes, also all I wanted was a rice ball being 7 months pregnant chalk it up to a odd craving. Rice ball finally comes… FROZENSOLID in the middle. I send it back for a new one, 10 minutes later my rice ball arrives FROZENSOLIDAGAIN!!! Waitress kindly takes the rice ball off of our bill. About 30 minutes after the rice ball incident our food arrives(Baked Ziti Sorrentio, Lasagna, & Ravioli’s for my son) Would you believe our baked dishes were cold in the middle, and absolutely charred around the edges!!! At least my 3 year olds dish was hot enough, seeing as he’s waited almost 90 minutes for 4 ravioli’s. I bring the issue up to the waitress and I’m extremely frustrated… This is her response: «Well it’s not my fault!» — well guess what honey, it sure as sh*t isn’t mine or my families fault for poor management. Apparently someone called out sick that day and they were understaffed. Fine, I get that and we were more than cognizant of that and allowed some leeway with being short staffed. There was also NO management on the premises, or in the restaurant the following week when we tried to get a hold of Mr. Mannino via phone call. The waitress didn’t do anything to compensate our experience and only said she would take care of us next time. Unfortunately, there will not be a next time. I’ll wait the 2 hours for Emilio’s. Word to the wise Mr. Mannino: If you have someone call out sick, don’t have 5 guys walking around just filling up waters — USETHEM to run orders out to customers, so their food isn’t decaying under the heating lamps well after they’ve come out of the oven. I“m pretty certain they know the table numbers. ;-) Sorry to say we wont be back. It’s a shame too, they used to be AWESOME!

Just moved to the area, and tried a handful of Pizzerias, but Olio’s is by-far the best around! I will be gladly returning!

Stopped in for a slice while shopping in the area. The pizza crust was super thin, which made it very floppy. The flavor was just so-so. The place was clean and had a family atmosphere.

My family has been to Olio’s several times and has always enjoyed our time there. Parking is great(as it’s in a strip mall) and I almost always get the same dish — cheese tortellini with creamy pesto sauce. It was my favorite dish at another Italian restaurant in Commack that has since closed. This is the next best thing. Most recently, my family scheduled a surprise party to be held at the restaurant. Full disclosure: we did plan it for the late afternoon, when it’s likely to be less busy. The staff at Olio’s couldn’t have been nicer. They accommodated a very large group, allowed us to bring in some balloons and rearrange furniture in a section of the restaurant since thy don’t have a private room, and even accommodated some of our pickiest family members without complaint! The one thing that went wrong, when they handed out lunch menus but told us they’d charge us dinner prices(and provide dinner-sized portions) because it was after a particular time, they understood their mistake and made an adjustment that helped to offset the increased cost and show that they really cared about their patrons. In the end, the bill wasn’t even as expensive as I anticipated it being. We will gladly return and very well may plan other family events at Olio’s. Thank you, owners and staff!

Hands down, best pizza in the area, I’ve tried all the others and they are crap. For that reason I’m a regular here and I have never been disappointed by this shop. As for others in the area, I would arguably call what they produce as pizza. This is a full scale Italian restaurant as well, so if you are feeling the need for something more substantial, they will take care of you. The staff is always friendly and the service is great. To get any better you would have to head into the city.

The place was moderately busy on Valentine’s night. The blonde at the counter took my order and approx 40 min. later we were given our stuffed mushroom, spinach salad which was plentiful, then #3 with meatball, chicken, veal and a sausage. The gal delivered the items to our take out table and was friendly. I also had 1 slice of plain pizza which was hot and crispy. A neighborhood gem. The interesting part I noticed was the young man at the counter knew 75% of the customers names and c what they wanted. Just like the old brooklyn neighborhood.

I really enjoy having a fancy Italian meal with my pops at Olio’s. The bread is super fattening yet delicious, and their«special» nights such as Pasta or Chicken are totally worth the deal.($ 11.95 for soup/salad, fancy pasta dish, drink [wine, soda, coffee] and dessert.) on chicken night i believe it is a dollar or 2 more. Go on a Monday, Tues, or Wed… you won’t regret it!
