Why aren’t the employees trained to ask customers if they need help!!! Again, the Long Island culture hard at work. Don’t talk to me and I won’t talk to you. I’m too busy with my life and job to acknowledge you. About the merchandise, they don’t have latest apparel. What they do have is limited and plain. Not a good selection of men’s apparel, unless you’re a guy with absolutely zero athletic fashion sense. Just shop at Sports Authority in commac, Dick’s or any other sporting goods store in the city. They have more cooler variety. The Modells franchise is lagging far behind in inventory and customer service.

This is my second trip to this location where I ask for help when trying on sneakers and no one is available. I finally get someone to get me my size he handed me the box and walks away. Comes back three seconds later haven’t even gotten the second shoe on and asks how they feel. I said they’re okay… and I never saw him again or anyone for that matter. if I said they’re just okay don’t you think you might want to find out why? Or here’s an idea maybe you’ll want to sell me another pair that I will love! I don’t understand what the four people in the store are doing because there are two guys in the front of the store in red shirts are hanging out and chatting, one girl walking around the back and another guy who never comes out of the stockroom. And here’s the twisted part I have a problem with my leg so I don’t really understand why someone physically can’t see what’s going on and think maybe this chick need some extra attention that would be nice. The store is very clean and well stocked unfortunately no one here ever seems to want to help you actually buy merchandise!

Another trip and another strike out for me. First time I’ve been here in two years. In that time they’ve remodeled the place and it looks much cleaner then I remember it. Unfortunately the new team apparel section located in the far front of the store is smaller then before with a much smaller section. Bummer for me as that’s what I stop in for when visiting NY.

I used to think that even though Modell’s was smaller they were better than Dick’s and Sports Authority as far as carrying actual sports equipment. Can’t say that anymore! Now it’s just a smaller version of those sports super stores. At this Modell’s anyway, sports equipment is second to all the latest in athletic fashion. It’s very sad. Walking in the store it was hard not to notice that the few shelves with sports equipment is stuck in the back corner and it’s mostly cheap gear… lost in a sea of tshirts, team jersey, shorts, sweat shirt. There were about 5 guys in their Modell’s referee shirts standing around in the back… doing absolutely nothing from the time i go there until i left. But in their defense, unless you needed help finding a shirt that fit, what could you possibly need their help for. The only hope is that not all Modell’s are turning into this. There was a great one in Freeport that I used go to… maybe that one is still good. Can only hope.

Good place to get sports equipment, shoes, exercise clothing and equipment. they have a decent selection of sneakers and shoes. They also have a decent selection of team sportswear. large parking lot. easy access. not to many sales associates ever on the floor to help you though.
