I have a knack for checking out new bakeries in town, hence, my recent trip to Manna Bakery(despite having sworn loyalty to Tea Zone Bakery down the street.) Varieties of buns and breads parallel that of TZB, as do the prices – i.e. more expensive than their Chinese counterparts but higher quality is evident in the taste. Personally, I find TZB’s buns to be much more enjoyable. It could be the sweeter and the more generous filling that keeps me coming back for more. So back to Manna. Unlike TZB, they offer a limited variety of sticky rice cakes. Sure, they look appetizing, but it took some chewing time in order to be able to swallow just a small piece. It simply doesn’t bode well for a fast eater like me. Verdict: If you’re looking for a decent, self-service Korean bakery, then I suppose MB will suffice. However, I’ve found MY bakery(TZB) and am willing to sacrifice a few extra minutes for some better tasting buns.
