Long John Silver’s Seafood Shoppe

This place was exceptionally dirty. Plus the oil was old and the employees weren’t very friendly. I’ll not be returning.

I hate to give one-​star reviews. I truly do. But you must understand, this place is really bad. Actually I would somehow find a way to give it zero stars, if it weren’t for the friendly staff. But all the friendliness came from apologizing about the long wait time. The food itself was actually okay, although a hush puppy was burnt. But the restaurant was unclean, and didn’t have a very welcoming or even «seaside» feel. More like a morgue. But a very dirty, unkempt morgue. If you want fish, I’d advise you to stay away from here unless you’re dying for it. Because you may just die waiting for it to be ready.

Yeah, it’s a fast food fish place, but I’ve been to other locations that were much better than this one.
The employees are nice, but sometimes bordering on being TOO nice. One girl who works there is very chatty. Nothing wrong with chit-​chat, I suppose, as you wait for your food (which always takes an unusual amount of time) but I don’t particularly wish to stand there talking about my life or her life or whatever she’s in the mood to talk about; I just want to get my food and leave.
The food, yes, bringing me to my next issue — they overcook everything. Maybe that’s why it takes so long, I don’t know. But the food is always overcooked. Today I stopped in for a couple of crab cakes. Used the drive-​thru this time and they told me it would be a couple of minutes. I said no problem and sat there waiting. And waiting. And waiting. My crab cakes came to me WAY overdone. A nice deep, DARK brown (nearly black) rather than lightly golden, as they should be. They’re simply leaving stuff in the fryers too long.
Now, for the inside of the place it’s… well, let me put it this way — I wonder if they ever bother cleaning it. The floors are always greasy and sticky with food particles and even wadded up napkins lying about. In my personal opinion, I don’t think they have enough supervision at this particular location, not even from the manager. He was there one day I happened to go inside and he was very aloof and didn’t seem to give two poopoos about what went on in the kitchen. Another employee was goofing around and acting a little bit like an idiot and the manager didn’t seem to mind one bit. It was like watching a bunch of toddlers.
It wouldn’t be such a bad location if they’d clean the place up a bit and stop frying the living daylights out of everything.

Very disorganized from the second we walked in the door. The cashier was more worried about talking to his friends than taking our order.
The real joy of this visit was the 5 – 6 inch hair that I found battered into my fish, and having to argue with the manager to get a full refund of my purchase. T
his is the short version of what happened, but my advice would be to go to any other location except for this one.
