This Getgo has four pages on Unilocal for some reason. There’s not enough space for four Getgos here; there’s not even enough for the one they have. Here is the mathematics behind my rating. ADD: Five stars for the free air to fill tires. All Getgos and other gas station who give free air are automatically granted five stars. All other stations who make you pay for air and/or do not give a crap to keep their pumps maintained are hereby given 0-stars – regardless of Unilocal rules. SUBTRACT: One star for the small plot that can not adequately hold the fifty-some cars that always seem to be there. SUBTRACT: One star for location. Being on the corner between two four-lane roads means you can never pull out to the left. So want to go North or East? Tough luck Buddy! Your U-turning at Kingsdale. ADD: Two stars for actually having a gas container I bought the day I ran out of gas down the road. SUBTRACT: One star for how heavy the gas was. SUBTRACT: One star for not being closer to where I ran out of gas. Shame! SUBTRACT: Three stars for being in UA – what snobs! ADD: One Star for the Giant Eagle rewards program. SUBTRACT: One star; I do not have a Giant Eagle rewards card. ADD: Three stars because UA people are really not that bad. They are gracious and nice even.

I live near this station, so I’ve monitored their gas prices on Gas Buddy fairly regularly for the past year. What I’ve noticed is that in general, this GetGo has gas prices 20~30 cents per gallon more expensive than the GetGo on 5th Ave in Grandview, the new GetGo on 3rd Ave in Grandview, or the GetGo on High Street in Clintonville. When gas prices spike, this station goes up right along with the other gas stations, but the gas price here is significantly slower to drop compared to the aforementioned alternatives. If you live in Upper Arlington and don’t want to drive too far for your gas, the Speedway on Lane and North Star is usually 10~20 cents per gallon cheaper. So from a pricing standpoint, this GetGo is really weak. Also consider that this gas station is located at the most painful traffic light intersection in all of Upper Arlington, I would avoid this gas station if at all possible.

Really terrible set-up. Extremely crowded. Hard to maneuver into the spot and then maneuver out of the parking lot. It’s on two busy streets, which makes it hard to get out. We had almost every car that tried to get out of the parking lot or into our spot hit us, and it wasn’t even by any fault of theirs; how could they get out any other way? Pretty aggravating and frustrating experience; almost not worth the fuel perks!

Other reviewers have commented on the lack of space for maneuvering your car at this station. For me, the other notable thing about this station is the gas discount system Giant Eagle uses. Giant Eagle customers are offered a reduced price per gallon on their next purchase, with the amount of discount based on the amount of groceries you’ve purchased recently. So, customers want to buy as much gas as they can in one purchase. Signs at the station say that you may not fill you car gas tank and a separate gas can in one purchase — for safety reasons. I’m not sure it’s for safety, but 2/3rds of customers bring several 5-gallon cans, which they fill after filling their car or SUV. They all do this hoping the attendant won’t call them out for it. So, as a customer you’re in the weird position of deciding whether to play by the rules(and not get the deal others are getting) or get a bunch of extra gas cans and try to fill them on the down low. Stepping back, this seems like a dumb way for Giant Eagle to set this up. I realize this isn’t likely to happen, but wouldn’t it be nice if stores priced each item separately(food or gas) and customers didn’t have to go through all this hassle to avoid paying much more than other customers? Why do customers get excited by gas discounts and not object to overpriced groceries?

Not the easiest gas station to navigate but once you finally find a spot, it’s a pretty straight-forward experience. Not so easy to make left turns when you depart, though. I’m willing to deal with this, however, if I have some fuel perks to use :).

You cannot make up a place like this on Earth. The plot this Getgo from Giant Eagle sits on is a gold mine. And so we, the human race, who worship Getgo«fuel perks» must make the stop once in a while. FACT: Most people fuel on their way to work or after work. Fueling here at these hours is akin to sleeping in a day bed with 5 other people. Where do you begin? The pumps, parking spaces and the small areas around it all(where your car half hangs out onto Fishinger or Tremont) make one annoying SNAFU. FACT: Late night pop-ins for a snack are done after 11PM. Oh no. Don’t stay open late at night, Getgo. Close those doors before or at 12 Midnight. No water. No Pringles. No gum. No gas. WEARECLOSED. FACT: Parking(again) is supposed to be convenient. This Getgo has angle parking in front(3 spaces), straight in parking on one side(2 spaces) and straight parking on one side(3 spaces). And they all require you maneuver your car into fueling stations or the street or the air pump stations. And tight? Tighter than the grasp of a man clinging to a rope hanging over the side of the sinking Titanic. I fuel here many times. 1-STAR for location and because I get gas before 6:30AM in the morning OR I wait for the weekend. Truly, this location is a gold mine as I mentioned before. But when you visit this Getgo… you’re taking your life, patience and the lives of others into your own hands. UGH!!!

Worst. space. ever. What the heck is with the maneuverability in this place? I watched an elderly couple circle around 5 times before they even made it to a pump. That’s all I gotsa say about that place, except Hooray Fuel Perks so I will keep on coming!

Erik B. sums it up. This place is horribly set up. It’s a complete sh*t show trying to get gas here and I actually ended up just checking my tire pressure then leaving because it is impossible to maneuver your way through the two sets of pumps. They are set at an «L» shape, which is bad enough, but then also on the CORNER of a 5-point intersection. It’s just too much. If you can, just go to the one on bethel or the one in grandview. You still get free air and your fuelperks… but without the hassle.
