Craving mexican and this place was close by so we decided to gave it a try. Food was typical mexican food but bland. I really did not enjoy the salsa taste. The service was good.

Super poor service, horrible Texas margaritas & gross food — I was sick in bed the entire next day!

We were the only people in the restaurant and the service was still terrible. Food was okay.

Quick to take order, quick to deliver. Once food is delivered no one ever returns. Ate my whole meal without a refill. The food was OK, cheese dip had a stale old taste to it. The old hostess walking around must have drowned herself in perfume before coming to work. After she walked by that was all I could taste or smell. Waited for 15 – 20 minutes for check to come. I wonder if they would have noticed if we just walked out with out paying. No excuse for the lack of refills and long wait time for check it was not busy. More open tables then filled. Probably will not be back, we will stick with our normal place for Mexican food.

Umm. Yuck. Definitely pass on this one. Beans and rice had a very odd flavor. Salsa was very bland. Also, you can only use your coupon during certain hours.

Life’s a little too short for bland, boring tex mex. We stopped over to grab a quick lunch. After seeing the ‘Hass tacos’ truck parked in front, my heart skipped a beat. I got very excited, but the excitement soon was burst. I asked if Hass served their product here, but to my dismay. They didn’t. The owner of Hass just runs El Acapulco. A bit shocking and surprising. The food is well below average. You can tell its pre-made and just saved for later. No flavor. No excitement… No joy to the cooking here. What’s disappointing is the«what could have been». There’s so much potential and yet they don’t invest on it. Skip this joint until the owners figure it out.

Had the taco salad with beef. A few strips of iceberg lettuce on top of a pool of lukewarm sloppy joe meat from a can. There was some bean smudged on the rim of the shell but nowhere to be found inside. One teeny sliver of tomato. There was no avacado as advertised. I am not a picky eater. Wish I would have taken a picture. It looked and tasted like something out of a dumpster. I had three bites and put it aside. Never coming here again. Would not recommend, the few bites I had made me sick and my stomach is shouting at me as I write this review. The server however was very nice. Unfortunately it doesn’t compensate for the mystery meat slop salad I paid 8.50 for.

Eat here at your own risk!!! My boyfriend and I recently had dinner at this location, one of us had an entrée containing beef, the other an entrée containing chicken. We were both sick beginning about an hour after eating and it lasted for TWOWEEKS!!! We both had severe stomach problems that were ongoing for two weeks. I won’t go into details bc it’s really gross, but let’s just say it was very bad and neither one of us have ever been sick like that from something we ate. We will NOT be back!!!

Super friendly service, great Margaritas. The food is good, but not the best Mexican I have ever had. It’s a bit on the mild/bland side as noted by several other reviewers. There is also a bit of a stale grease smell when you walk into the restaurant… indicating that the ventilation of cooking odors isn’t the greatest. The super friendly service here makes up for some of the shortcomings.

The food is just okay. The food lacks taste and appeal. I ordered the taquitos and they brought my order out and the tomato garnish had mood on it? When I complained they asked me if I wanted a new one or I guess they expected me to scrape the tomato off. Not impressed!

I read the the poor reviews before coming here but wrote them off as people not being familiar with typical inexpensive Mexican restaurants. My husband and I go to Mexican restaurants a lot and were expecting something similar but we were terribly disappointed. The chips were so stale, the service was awful, the food was poor, the water tasted terribly, and the restaurant needed some cleaning. And on top of that, the price certainly did not match the quality. Uniquely enough, my husband’s meal was served on a plate from a steakhouse.

Good food! Nice staff! Took a really long time to get drinks and food. The margarita had what appeared to be table salt on the rim which was kinda gross. Decent food would possibly eat here again if ever in the area.

This was the worst Mexican food I have ever had. I had #57, I believe. I ordered a chicken enchilada and burrito, I think. The chicken was boiled and unseasoned. One glob of cheese, watery tomato sauce. It took about five minutes to get it. So premade? Had to salt it to be edible, a first. I don’t expect the waitress to be my friend, but she was rude. I also ordered a half pitcher of margaritas, I was brought a full one, fortunately I wasn’t charged for a full one, but communication was so poor I wasn’t sure.

This place is a stereotypical cheap Mexican restaurant. I have eaten in the restaurant and gotten takeout from here, and all I can say is they aren’t trying very hard to keep customers happy. Everyone working there looks somewhat miserable, and while they do continually bring refills of chips and salsa, they don’t look happy about doing it. There’s nothing special about the food either. Take a look at my sad chicken quesadilla picture… there’s nothing to see here. But if you want some average, cheap Mexican food and you live close by, this is your place. I do feel a little bad for them because their main enterance has been blocked by all of the crazy construction on 23, but it looks like they still have enough business to stay open, so I think this place will be around for a while.

We ordered for take out, so I can only comment on the food and not the service as much :) Looking for something different after being disappointed in El Vaquero many times we turned to El Acapulco for dinner one night. I ordered the #14, one chile relleno with a cheese enchilada and rice with beans. I asked to have black beans but they didn’t have that as an option. I’m not sure if the refried beans were vegetarian so I just avoided them. The rest of my meal was great, just not very filing without beans. We did get chips and salsa but the salsa cup was so small! Maybe ¼ cup but that wasn’t near enough for 2 people. I would come back but maybe I could ask for some veggies instead of beans and defineatly get extra salsa. A LOT extra.

Friends and I have been here on various occasions. I’d have to say consistency is their biggest downfall. CONS: I’ve had the food have huge portions and lots of toppings, to getting fajitas that were about about ¼ of the size from previous visits and burnt to a crisp. Service is hit or miss, too. Had awesome servers, to a woman who looked like she hadn’t slept in a week and served as such. My biggest peev? The salsa. Best part of a Mexican restaurant is the chips and salsa. First round, great. 2nd round, the salsa they made was inedibly spicy, and I LOVE spicy food. This was the kind that will ruin your whole meal because your tongue fell off onto the table. I asked for mild and water immediately and 2 more times… brought me ‘gates of hell’ salsa. Youch. PROS: The beer is cheap and cold, and the margaritas were fantastic according to friends. I got a quesadilla and added shrimp, and it was likely the best quesadilla I’ve ever had. They grilled large shrimp and tons of fresh veggies and crammed it into this enormous tortilla. It was HUGE and fresh. The lady who own the joint greets you at the door. She is adorable. If they could get the consistency in check, I could easily give more stars!

I’m a frequent patron on El Acapulco and for a reason: they’re always hospitable, their food is good, and their Texana Margaritas are the BEST in Columbus. I’ve been coming here for the past couple of years and the employees, for the most part, are very attentive and will get your order out to you within ten minutes. I really don’t think I’ve ever had to wait for more than fifteen minutes, even at busy times, for food and drinks. The food is always good and they won’t nitpick you and charge extra for more chips/salsa or tortillas, like some restaurants do. The owner is always around and in a fantastic mood. I’ll continue to go here for as long as they’re open. And seriously: if you like margaritas, do yourself a favor and try their Texana margarita!

I appreciated the happy hour prices, and the margaritas weren’t terrible, but this restaurant needs a face lift and it was incredibly muggy and humid while we were inside eating. I only ordered the nachos so I can’t speak to the rest of the menu. I’d probably come back if I was in the area but I’m not going to go out of my way to come here.

Nothing special or unique, except that the owners sell reishi teas by the register. Mediocre food at above-average prices. The guac-salad that was supposed to come with my fajitas contained no guacamole. I requested the avocadic delight. She said, «No, dont have any». I asked for a little more beans. She brought me a entire plate of frijoles and then charged them to our bill. Language barrier? Si.
