Really enjoyed this spot. The cocktails were inventive and very well executed. The beer list was well put together as well. Service from both bartenders was exceptionally friendly and welcoming, even to our rather large and loud group. Music was at the perfect volume level. What more could you ask for in a bar. The only negative feedback, and it is very trivial, is the place was a bit too well lit at 9:00PM when we got there. I prefer my bar ambiance slightly dimmer. Again, not even close to being an issue worthy of detracting from this overall great place.

I have been one time with friends, for drinks before going out to dinner. It was crowded when we arrived, and rather loud. But the atmosphere was casual, and the server was really friendly. My martini was great! The friends I was with told me that they had been there several times and that Denmark has become one of their favorites for the downtown /Short North area. According to them, on some nights it’s packed while on others it is almost empty. With a large window front looking onto High Street from the second floor, it seems like a great place to sit and people-watch. I’ll be back again!

This is a hidden gem! When we went for happy hour it was so nice and not overly crowded. The owner is so nice and knows what he is talking about! While we were there he gave us free samples of a new drink he was trying out. I was here with a group of 3 and we all tried different drinks! I got the Moscow Mule and French. My sister tried the Fall & Oats, Tijuana Strawberry, and Strawberry Daiquiri. My sister wanted the daiquiri and the owner personally made it strawberry on her request! He was so adaptable. My boyfriend got ??? We also got some flatbreads which were more like pizzas. Anyhow they are known for their drinks! All drinks were made amazingly and were so beautiful to look at.

Very glad I found out about this place. Went last night for the first time. Drinks were unique and wonderful. My wife and I sat at the bar and were entertained all night watching the bartenders make the drinks. You could feel their passion for making great drinks.

«Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Columbus anymore…» That was cheesy, but seriously, as soon as you walk in, this place reminds you of a super trendy bar in New York’s east village. Beautiful décor, and then the drinks happened… Incredible. I had one Cider Punch(or maybe 2), and my girlfriend had one Alud Sang Syne Sangria(definitely 2). They were both incredible. The mixologists are encouraged to get weird and experiment here, and you can totally taste the ingenuity. It’s quite smart actually. Since many of the items are made in-house, it definitely increases the urge for repeat visits. However, that didn’t stop our bartender Derrick, who was amazing. My girlfriend and I both nerd out a bit about bartending, and not only did he make amazing drinks, he walked us through the entire process and was very attentive. Bonus points there. We also showed up on a Hai Pokè pop up day. More on that later, but if you find yourself hungry with $ 10 on a Tuesday or Thursday from 4p-9p, get you booty to Denmark and EAT!!! Drop what you’re doing. Eat. You won’t be disappointed.

Such a cute little place to go for a chill night. Décor is so modern, and the open windows really sets the mood. I haven’t had the food here yet, I’ve only had their drinks and i think their drinks are great and reasonably priced!

I had my first visit to Denmark during the Hai Poke takeover event, so I can’t speak to their normal bar menu(the poke was great, though). However my friend and I did order their pickle plate appetizer, which was phenomenally awesome. I am always a slut for anything pickled and this was a smörgåsbord. Pineapple, onions, mushrooms, traditional pickles, all kinds of deliciousness. I was in pickle heaven. We ordered some more bar snacks over the course of the evening and they were all great. The cocktail menu was really creative. I had a dark & stormy, and then the pineapple upside down something or other(their menu has evolved so I can’t look it up). Both were great — the pineapple cocktail was way less sweet than I was expecting but I like that, most cocktails are a little too sweet for me. The atmosphere was really cool and chill, and the service was good. I’ll be eager to go back to enjoy some drinks with friends.

Denmark is my favorite cocktail bar in town. First of all, it’s conveniently located within stumbling distance of me in the Arena district. Secondly, their cocktails are top-notch. Thirdly, the atmosphere is modern and classy without being overly stuffy or pretentious. Columbus has numerous cocktail bar offerings. Curio, Sidebar and Mouton are just some worth mentioning. For me, Denmark stands out from the aforementioned bars due its more relaxed atmosphere while still serving some of Columbus’ best cocktails. I’ve tried numerous cocktails from Denmark and they have all been excellent. I’m a sucker for Whiskey Sours, so I love their Whiskey Flower, which is a floral twist on the classic. I’ve also had their Pecan Old Fashioned which is good too. They also have numerous snacks including flatbreads, spreads and cheeses. Overall, it’s the combination of atmosphere and drinks that keeps me coming back to Denmark. There’s plenty of bar and table space, so it never feels too crowded. The atmosphere is pretty laidback and the noise level is appropriate. It’s also open 6 days a week, as opposed to other cocktail bars. It’s not a bad date spot! ;) It’s also a good place to people watch along High Street and the convention center.

I agree — this is the hidden gem everyone should check out! A group of us came for happy hour and to check out Hai Poke’s kitchen takeover/pop-up. Luckily, I work and run downtown and had noticed the entrance(a stairwell door right of Bareburger) and made my way up to the second floor. Very nice view, great modern décor. The bar is walled off from the entrance, which keeps the kitchen/bar/staff noise down in the main dining area. The floor-to-ceiling windows facing the convention center are very cool. While it looks«swank,» I never got the too-cool-for-you vibe from either the staff or fellow customers. Our server was friendly even though we peppered her with questions all. night. long. Our drinks and food were timed well and made our night fairly seamless. Their drinks menu is everything you never even knew you wanted or needed from your booze. Beer cocktails, classic and traditional mixers, a margarita, or a damn mojito — Denmark will make you the best you’ve had/never had before. The drinks are pricey, but the prices are reflective of the quality you are getting. While we were there, another table ordered a sazerac — an absinthe cocktail served from a smoking flask with lemon oil extracted by burning a lemon peel. Denmark is not doing halfway! We tried French 76(a champagne cocktail), dark and stormy(artfully presented as the name implies), the sangria(a good choice for those of us who need a little alcoholic reminder lest we end up on the floor before the end of the evening — the gin they add provides), a cosmopolitan(like the best Fruity Pebble flavor, a good thing), and a pineapple upside-down(a flip that wasn’t nearly as sweet as expected). Also — the saison shandy, a beer cocktail that no matter how much you stir, that honey vanilla OYO is gonna give you two strong shots at the end. Fair warning, but it is excellent. Their happy hour consists of a dozen or so simple/traditional cocktails, sangria and punch(both with gin) — for $ 6. Beers are $ 2 off menu price, and they have wine(either $ 5 or $ 6), Bonus! Denmark’s happy hour goes until 7pm. They also offer $ 5 small plates/shareables. We got the house pickle plate — dilly beans, red cabbage, hot pepper rings, green tomatoes, mushrooms, pineapple, and cucumbers — all kinds of flavors and textures and lots of briny goodness. While they were on a limited menu due to Hai Poke being there(see my review for Hai if you want those deets), they do have flatbreads, small plates and the like. Their pimento cheese was good, and they had flavored pretzels on offer, too. This is definitely a fun happy hour, pre-game or post-work kind of place that is both throwback and super-modern. Look is upscale, vibe read casual to me(maybe Tuesday-night chic).

I’ve only been here twice, but both times I have left wanting to go back again soon. The cocktails here are immense. Be prepared for the bartender to take quite some time to handcraft your cocktail, but the tastiness is absolutely worth it. My favorite, the French 75 is quite delicious, and one of the better versions I’ve had in the city. I keep meaning to try the small plates/appetizers, but haven’t had the opportunity yet. Lastly, love that they do they guest bartending option for local charities and community organizations so they can raise funds. I understand that 15% of all retail beverage sales go back to the charity. Fun and socially conscious!

Awesome!!! Loved this place! I would have never known about it if I didn’t follow Cbus Underground and the like. Even knowing how to get into the place when you do know about it proved a little challenging. It’s on the 2nd floor in the old Yankee Trader building on top of Bareburger. Use the door directly to the right of Bareburger and go up the stairs one flight. Came in here for happy hour on Friday right as they opened. They have a million(I’m exaggerating) cocktails priced right for happy hour. I had a French 75(my FAVE summer cocktail) which was so cold, pretty, and refreshing. My husband had a Sazerac and he loved it. The décor is knockout. So fresh and trendy. We sat in the cool turquoise chairs right by the floor to ceiling windows overlooking High Street and got to people watch in the air conditioning. Great service too. Can’t wait to come back.

Love. Love. Loved Love. OK, I think maybe the company had a little something to do with it, but seriously, get your butt here and try this place out! You snake your way through the building, up the steps and look for the almost non-descript door and you enter into a swanky oasis. The perfect mood lighting and music(not too loud). Great for groups or really getting to know that someone special. They have walls of glass, and you are right on top of the action on the street which lends itself to some fun people watching. The drinks are wonderful, inventive, and executed with perfection. The quirky and capable staff makes the experience just that much better.

Lovely 2nd floor bar hidden in a mixed-use commercial building. Great service, nice interior, clean space overall. The drinks were good, just not as balanced as I might have expected. Good presentation. Nice selection. I would definitely come back again. I’d suggest a branding overhaul as well as a redesign of the drink menu both in terms of style and taste. Great spot for groups and get togethers.

I was in town for a conference and Denmark was the key location for the conference’s after party! It’s very close to the Hyatt and convention center, which is great for walking to and from purposes. It’s a snazzy little bar in the Arena District. The inside is really interesting and really well designed. They have all sorts of neat chairs and tables to sit and talk and there seems to be two levels to the place. The upstairs has a full bar and lots of room, and then there’s the basement with a wine/cheese«cellar» and a larger open space, and in this instance, the open space was converted into a karaōke bar. I had a really great time here! Cocktails can be a bit on the expensive side, but they are made very well, but I tended to stick with the $ 2 PBRs myself. Definitely a fun time!

The quiet, hidden gem within the bustling city… Several things worth noting about Denmark: First, I felt like I was a character on Mad Men. The swanky vibe was seeping out of the walls. To add to the aforementioned«swanky-ness», the location is somewhat hidden on the second floor of the building. It feels like a secret hideout where all the cool/classy kids drink. Most importantly, they have an extensive craft cocktail selection. I had a mule and gin & tonic. Both were on point. Service was impeccable. A bartender immediately greeted us and brought us menus. He made sure we had the next drink coming as we finished the previous one. I never like to see an empty glass in front of me. Lastly, it’s fairly quiet during the week. There were only a few people at the bar and at a table. Overall, it’s a pretty intimate bar. So, when you feel like channeling your inner Don Draper, Denmark is the place in this city.

Denmark is by far one of the most visually appealing bars I’ve visited in the city. I love the modern style furniture and the second floor view of High St. is comforting after dark. The cushy chairs by the window gave the room a homey feel. I absolutely love that Denmark features local art throughout their space. Such a wonderful way to spread local love. I ordered the Old Pecan Fashioned and while the drink was pleasant, I can’t say it met my expectations. Perhaps I’m naïve to the drink naming game, but I expected to have a hint of pecan tease my palate while I sipped my bourbon based selection. I also didn’t expect the bartender to reach down and pick up the ice by hand rather than with a utensil into each drink. Such a major turn off! As I sat there watching him clean up I was appalled at the notion that this dude is slinging drinks, cleaning dishes, wiping down equipment whilst touching the dang-on ice with his dirty hands. It also didn’t help that the two employees were heavily involved in a personal conversation in front of me — hope you finally figured out your roommate situation bro! UGH.UGH.UGH. I have been eagerly anticipating my visit here for several months. Sadly it didn’t meet my expectations. I can’t say I won’t go back, but I don’t want to indicate that I will. In fact, I can’t continue to even write about the experience. In summary, awesome view, cool furniture. Suspect hygiene. Brokenhearted Unilocaler.

Stop in here during a little break before a wedding dinner. I never knew this place existed because it’s on the 2nd floor of a building but it’s a pretty sweet spot. It’s actually next to a design firm I believe and almost felt they were connected because how the floor plan was. Anyways, tried the moscow mule and it was good! This is a good spot to hang out with friends! Chitty chat over a drink or two.

Total fan of Denmark here! I love a good craft cocktail, and Denmark is just the place! That’s saying a lot, because I have to travel past Curio and Sidebar to get here from my house(lots of love to both of those places too!). Every time I’ve come to Denmark it’s been to meet up one-on-one with a friend(or my husband) on a weeknight. The atmosphere is equal parts dreamy wind-down and hip coolness. The cocktail selections are extensive — and not at the expense of quality, either. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and approachable. I’ve had them adjust cocktails to my personal preferences(go easy on the simple), and they even let me borrow a power cord to charge my phone once. There’s something for everyone, and just reading the menu is a good education. You won’t feel like this place is too cool for you. It’s just cool. Besides the cocktails, bartenders, easy going pace, and décor — Denmark is super fun because it’s on the second floor of the building. Go up the stairs, and then gaze out of huge floor-to-ceiling windows over High Street as you sip. You’ll feel above-it-all, but not in a snooty way… above your cares and stresses. It’s a fantastic retreat. If you’re looking for snacks — Denmark has them, but you’re better off just having a cocktail or two here and grabbing nomz elsewhere. Not that the food is terrible or anything, but the focus is definitely on the dranks.

Columbus, your newest hidden gem has arrived! Full disclosure: I haven’t had the complete Denmark experience just yet, but I wanted to share my excitement anyway. I’m hosting a 40th bday partay(heyyy) in a week for a friend, and the space I needed was proving to be impossible to find. Something very adult, but still appropriate for a few kids… not a bar, but has alcohol… and is centrally located in a walking neighborhood. Yeah, we’re taking about a unicorn. Well let me introduce you to Denmark — a unicorn. I had heard of Denmark’s «secret space,» and I was intrigued. I came by tonight to see the space, and it’s perfect. So here’s the scoop here: Picture it… on street level is Bareburger. Immediately to the right is a door. In the door is a set of stairs that leads to an amazing lounge and bar… that’s Denmark! And then if you go to the basement(below Bareburger)… that’s the secret space! The upstairs bar and lounge are beautiful and open — very swanky, but casual. The drinks are classic cocktails exquisitely crafted. And the food is all small plates of meats, cheeses, salads, and flatbreads. Just a note: there’s a lot or duck on the menu. Down in the basement at the secret space is a wine store, small bar, and a private party room — that’s where we’ll be! It’s beautiful and easily customized based on your needs. I’ve only had a tour and one cocktail so far… but so far so good! It feels very much like a much much much bigger Mouton. I cannot wait to report back how the party goes! The only thing that rubbed me a little the wrong way was the attitudes of the bartenders. They weren’t rude, but they were definitely a little«too cool to be nice.» You know those people? They acted a bit like they were doing me a favor by fixing me a drink. But that’s only a small gripe, and there’s so much to love about this new business!
