My husband and I recently went to the Crosswoods location of Mitchell’s Fish Market for my birthday. Neither of us have ever had a bad experience at Mitchell’s Fish market… but it has been several years since we’ve been to one. Being back in the Columbus area we wanted to branch out and experience what Columbus has to offer. With that being said, the service was great. Our waitress was informative and very pleasant. We both tried the Grapefruit martini and were very pleased. We also got oysters as an appetizer. This was my first experience trying oysters and I was very pleased! However, our main dishes were nothing short of «ok.» I got the Sea Bass which tasted good, but didn’t have any outstanding qualities that would’ve expected. My husband had the Tuna… and it was awful. He has always gotten Tuna at any restaurant that has a seafood specialty and has never complained. His tuna was extremely chewy and tasted like dishwater. He didn’t even finish it. Unfortunately with this being our last course, it ruined our experience. One would expect for the price of our bill to have exceptional food. It appears the exceptional stops at the appetizers.

Worst service and food that I have ever had at a Fish Market. And we were some of the only people here! This chain has really gone way down hill after Cameron Mitchell sold it.

Poor service and mediocre food on a Sunday night. Waited forever for our entrees, then there were mistakes on the orders, all the fish was overcooked and our server seems to have better things to do that take care of our table… we will not be back. Don’t bother coming to this location. It’s horrible.

My husband and I have date night every weekend. We heard really good things about Mitchell’s, so decided to try it out. We made reservations, and were seated shortly after arriving. After we were seated, we placed an order for appetizers, and we’re provided with a couple glasses of water while we took a few minutes to look over the menu. Once our waitress left, we didn’t see her again. After about 20 minutes, we decided to leave. I have never walked out of a restaurant, but we felt that if we were going to spend good money on a meal, that we shouldn’t be completely forgotten about. We were very disappointed. Not only did we waste time waiting around, but we had to also find another place to eat on a Saturday night. Our post-dinner plans also had to be cancelled. We will likely go elsewhere the next time we’re looking to go out for seafood.

Once again great service, and incredible food! Molly was attentive, knowledgeable and pleasantly sweet. Simply the best cod fish and chips! Manager John has excellent leadership skills, and inspires the staff to perform at a 100%! Enjoy!!!

We always love this place. Probably my favorite restaurant in town that’s on the fancier side. My last visit there service was kinda bad, took close to 2 hours to get us out of there. Plus it was restaurant week and our server told us that had ended on a previous night and wasn’t available. Which was wrong, but I wasn’t overly upset at missing out on the selections. I love the bread, the butter than comes with the bread, the fish selections, the styles of the fish selections, love the soups, love the salads. Love the lobster here. I love a lot here I guess, ha ha

Mitchell’s Fish Market is a treat! The menu is well thought out and the food is consistently cooked to perfection! It’s a great place to go for a romantic dinner or a quiet business meeting. Plan to make reservations because this place fills up fast for dinner. Atmosphere is open and quiet — and lighting is dim. You can see the open kitchen from pretty much anywhere in the restaurant except the bar area. For dinner, I ordered the Winter Surf & Turf, which was amazing. The lobster was tender and lightly seasoned — I can still taste it melting in my mouth. I ordered a side of Hollandaise sauce for the asparagus and ended up using it on the meat too. It’s to die for! On previous visits, I have also tried Ahi Tuna, Spicy Crispy Shrimp, and Maine Lobster Bisque — all delicious. I haven’t tried anything here that I wouldn’t eat again. This location is just off of 23, but if you’ve never been here before — plan to use a GPS. It’s tucked away and you can’t see it from 23. Parking fills up fast, so tell your boyfriend to drop you at the door. You can talk to the friendly maître d’ while you wait.

Beware… This restaurant is not what it used to be when Cameron Mitchell had the reins. The quality suffered when Ruth’s Chris took over, but was still good. Now that Landry’s owns it… It is an over priced Red Lobster. I ordered an ocean Cobb salad for lunch today– described as chilled lobster, crab, shrimp with avocado, egg, bacon, blue cheese. I got a salad of mostly ice berg lettuce, bacos, no discernible cheese, a few slivers of avocado and an ice cream scoop of seafood mush. Not the chilled chunks of lobster, crab and shrimp I envisioned. For 18.99! Sad, it used to be my favorite restaurant– never will go again.

Think you can’t get good seafood in the Midwest? Think again. The seafood here is fantastic. I tried the sea bass and it was phenomenal. The service was excellent as well. The dessert was excellent.

We had an issue with our appetizer, Dave(manager) came to our table and comped our appetizer, gave us a dessert, and apologized for the inconvenience. Very polite and courteous manager and very delicious food.

Service was very good. Suggested their moscato sangria and it was tasty! The sea scallops were done perfectly(I got them blackened). When I am in town again definitely will be back.

We won’t be coming back. It’s owned by Landry’s now and absolutely disgusting. This was our date night spot for almost 10yrs. Each time it was sold to a new owner it got worse and worse.

Friday night out with my gorgeous wife… Rare occasion without kids. Place was not busy at all… We were seated in a nice booth towards the back. Five minutes to get a waitress. Waited 20 minutes for the water she said she was going to get before she took our drink order. She never returned. We gave up. We decided to leave since not a soul asked if we were needing any help. Found the bow tied host and our waitress having a nice fun conversation at the entry way. No apology from the staff. They let us walk out even after we told them we didn’t even get served. Pathetic.

I tried this place to try something new. It was across the street from my hotel. I had a cup of lobster bisque. It was okay, not that much lobster in it and the flavor was sweeter than I prefer. My meal was the Sea Bass, but I had them prepare it Hoisin style with asparagus. The Hoisin tasted like it was directly out of a jar, it was good, but nothing spectacular. My business guest felt the same way. I am not knocking the place, it just wasn’t anything special. The server was great, the manager came by to chat. The restaurant is really to dark for a business meal, great for a date night though.

Hubby and I ventured here to try their lobster and shrimp BLT roll because it’s their August sandwich special on Mondays only. We started out with two ice teas with lemon and shared a bowl of clam chowder. I really like their clam chowder as I forgot to take a picture of it because I couldn’t wait to dig in. We then both got the lobster shrimp BLT roll with fries. First impression is the roll is definitely lacking lobster and there’s not much shrimp either. Definitely was missing the prime ingredient and for ten bucks thought I’d get more. What I got was more bread and that’s not a good thing. The fries were underdone and were just blah. I’m a fry connoisseur and these poor pale limp things aren’t cutting it. I’m surprised because I usually get pretty decent food here. I just know it’s not worth going out of your way for this sandwich I was really bummed.

I am back here to give Mitchell’s another chance to serve me a decent meal. I arrived ordered a cup of coffee. The waiter said none was made but he can make some. So when the coffee was brought to my table I tried it and it was not good coffee. A restaurant of this caliber should be serving a French pressed coffee or at least be able to serve a decent cup of coffee. We ordered a shrimp cocktail and when it came out it was more of some shrimp thrown onto a plate and served with cocktail sauce. To my disappointment the shrimp was rubbery and tasted old. I then got my main entrée which was seafood Americana. It was suppose to be served over roasted redskin potatoes. The potatoes were served on the side and were burnt. I sent it back and it arrived the same way except the potatoes were not burnt. The shrimp in the dish were rubbery also the scallops were slightly underdone. For some reason they put two pieces of inedible bread on the bottom and covered it with seafood gravy mixture which was to salty. I am disappointed I was hoping that this restaurant would take action to correct the issues and strive to put out a good product to its customers. Again if you want a good seafood dinner I am afraid that this is not the place to go until they fix the issues with the freshness of there seafood and the way it is cooked and presented. P. S. It’s 6 pm and this restaurant is practically empty. I am trying to pay my check and there systems are down. Makes you wonder how long this establishment will continue to operate.

I’m a fan, but not necessarily in any rush to go back anytime soon. I prefer the ambiance of the interior part of the restaurant as opposed to the patio — lower lighting and more intimate inside. Lobster bisque was very good and serving sizes were plentiful. I didn’t think the crispy ginger coating for my fish was seasoned enough, so I had to add salt for flavoring. Sides were nice — sticky rice and vegies. The bread and butter was the highlight for me — yum.

Best seafood I’ve had in columbus(I’m from Maryland so it’s hard to make me happy when it comes to seafood) Do yourself a favor-get the lobster bisque. I dream about it. Service was the best I’ve ever had, drinks were the best I’ve had. I even mentioned I didn’t love one I was drinking, and even though I was almost done with it-they made me a new one and took the other one off the tab. Def not necessary but i loved it. Crime brûlée was amaze as well. Just go here. You won’t regret it.

Columbus Fish finds a way to be glamorous but still approachable. Their method is simple, obvious, and genius. Glamour can be found in a lengthy wine list, cloth napkins, luxurious setting, uniformed waiters in white and black, and exotic sounding dishes. Approachable you can’t hold or touch; it’s a feeling, one that grows out of conversation and the ease of building a warm relationship in just the brief moment needed to converse with a sincerely kind and unpretentious waiter. It seems so simple, their formula does. And they put it out there for all to see. And feel. Try their key lime pie at Columbus Fish. Tart, cold, dense, real. I love love it. When I am not cooking for my daughters on my trips back to Ohio, they have their choice of restaurants anywhere in the greater metropolitan Columbus area. As younger kids it was always pizza. Now that they know quality, it’s Columbus Fish. I taught them well.
