Outstanding. Opens @ 0630. The baked items were fresh and very well done. The coffee was outstanding. We did not experience the bar(it was breakfast, after all), but it is a comfort to know that it is there. This would be a great place to put in a lazy morning or afternoon with the paper or a novel.

Excellent lunch place, or meeting place. I haven’t been disappointed, maybe thats because of the beer.

This is a good option for lunch downtown. It had a nice selection of sandwiches, wasn’t too pricey and had fresh ingredients. There is a good-sized patio and a decent amount of indoor seating. The cashier was friendly and made our experience easy and enjoyable. It’s an order at the counter place, but they bring your food to your table which is nice. I want to give Uprise more stars, but my sandwich was very dry. It was a balsamic tuna sandwich, which sounded promising. But the bread and tuna combined for a very dry experience. To be fair, we ate at the end of the lunch hour so the bread was not at its freshest. The sandwich my sister ordered was delicious, it was the Apple Bacon Cheddar. I plan to go back and try something different to ear. I’m sure I’ll be adding stars to my review in the near future.

The manager was quite rude and aggressive without cause. Love the food and coffee but the prices are far too expensive to have anything less than exemplary customer service.

Stations place which is also home to an indie movie theater. The menu might look small, but the taste is big. The bread is killer and you can’t go wrong with their desserts. Also, there’s an patio and bar. Can’t go wrong.

Best soups in town! Their summer seasonal Big Tomato sandwich is extra delicious, too. Can’t beat the atmosphere(their patio is great)!

By far my favorite place to eat in Columbia. I can hardly go a week without getting an Apple Bacon Cheddar sandwich from them. Their coffee selection is a good size, with occasional specials that are always amazing(I love the honey lavender). The cinema attached gives even more of an energy to the already great atmosphere and is another great place to go and eat the food you just ordered. A diverse food and coffee menu has left no one disappointed, as far as I know. The bar is also fully stocked, and the place transforms around 8pm. Service can be slow, but it’s always worth the wait. Art to buy rotates on the walls, each with an interesting story behind it, making Uprise even more special. My only complaint is a HUGE one… that it’s not open on Sundays. But no matter what, if someone comes to town, I make sure they go to Uprise. A true Columbia treasure.

Cuban sandwich and spicy tomato soup, can’t get any better than this! Finding a sandwich this good is damn hard, even in bigger cities.

Their grilled cheese is out of this world! I ordered it for lunch when my boyfriend and I went there before watching a movie at Ragtag. The best feature of Uprise Bakery has got to be that you can take your food into Ragtag. The ultimate dinner and a movie. The staff is friendly and the customers are great! However Uprise can get pretty busy, which can be stressful in the small space.

Im done with this hipster hang out with its overpriced food that is kinda dry and tasteless. With its terrible music, and rude staff, and then the new unstated rule of no working over lunch. Done.

Good place to grab a bite before going to see a movie at the ragtag Cinema. The coffee is solid and the bread is amazing. I tried the German chocolate cookie, it was awesome! I saw on a review that somebody like their bánh mì sandwich. I decided to try it, I’m going to say that I liked it but it was totally, anything but a bánh mì sandwich. It had some of the same ingredients and it was a good sandwich but definitely not legit. Not even close. The staff is very friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is good though a little crowded. Parking is a problem, you’ll need to park on the street next to a meter and you better feed the meter or you will get a ticket.

Get in eat and leave. Their policy has changed recently. Not a casual relaxed coffee shop anymore. Good quality food, not cheap. Plan to spend $ 9 on a roasted chicken and $ 6 for glass of wine. Good breads, their honey seed is the best, available on Saturdays.

Extremely crowded, cheek to jaw filled with students drinking water and surfing the internet. The seats are small and have no padding. Had a Thai Caesar salad and struggled to find what was so ‘thai’ about it. The Ruben was okay, but portions was rather meager for the $ 8 asking price. I struggle to find a reason to come to Uprise vs Panera.

I was very pleased. Fresh food and unique. I had a sandwich and soup and thought the price was very reasonable for the quality. I will come back again.

Great local place, great food! We stopped by during a road trip and was so happy with everything we ordered. Had BLT, grilled ham, pizza, house salad, curry potatoes and carrot beet soups. All were fantastic. It seems all food was made from scratch so it took a little while to get our food, but we weren’t in a hurry. Recommended!

A typical bakery place with some exotic cuisines related to bread. Pros 1. You have the option to sit inside or outside. 2. Menu is precise and items are good. Cons 1. Not as cheap as the reviews say. 2. Felt like its a little crowded.

This place has a faithful following, and I loved the potato knish, but the sandwich I got was toasted so much(or the bread was so dry), it was almost impossible to bite into. And the«potato curry» soup was really«kale and potato» soup which I was forced to give to my friend, as I am not fond of kale. If that had been stated, I would have gotten the knish to start with. The big deal is that it is in the same building with the Ragtag Cinema, and you can take your food and drinks into the movie, as if you were at home with a huge giant screen. So I am grateful the bakery is there.

Every time I come to Columbia I always at least consider going to Uprise. Such a cool little place – I love that it exists. The food is tasty and made of quality ingredients, the sweets, the coffee… mmm. The service is always prompt and friendly. I also note that the crowd there is always diverse. I saw soccer moms, hipsters, older folks, students just hanging out there for lunch. It’s my go-to place. You should definitely stop in!

I agree with the gist of the reviews here, not only is this a really interesting place to hang out and enjoy a beer, the food here is surprisingly good! Specifically, I loved the bread here, I’d get a sandwich here just to see their french bread done to absolute perfection. Aside from that, their Banh Mi is absolutely delicious, while their soups & salads really hold their own. Aside from the food, they’ve also got a very good drink selection and typically feature some interesting beer & wine selections. Considering the food & drink is great and they’ve got a great movie theatre here too, there is absolutely every reason to frequently come here!

While in Columbia I met up with a friend at Uprise and I was highly impressed! I had no idea what to expect-I thought it was going to be like any other bakery, but it wasn’t. It was so much more. When I first entered I noticed the smell of popcorn! What? Apparently Uprise is also attached to a cinema and I can buy alcohol here!!! I was in love. Since I was meeting my friend for dinner I had to look over the menu and make a decision-the grilled cheese sounded perfect for the rainy cold night. My friend ordered their soup of the day. Once we placed our order we went to grab a table. This place was packed for a Saturday night, but we managed to snag a table in a perfect location. Our food was brought out to our table by one of the staff members and my grilled cheese looked great! By the time I took my first bite I could tell how fresh the bread way and it was perfectly crispy! It was perfect and just what I needed. I was in the mood for dessert and since I heard a rumor that Uprise has the best cinnamon rolls I wanted one only they were sold out for the day! I guess I’ll have to go back and get there earlier next time. Throughout dinner we were able to people watch and enjoy the atmosphere. This is a very laid back café/bakery with some really great options for breads, pastries, sandwiches, etc. I was also impressed with how awesome the wait staff was. Smiles all around. Very impressive. I can’t wait to go back!
