Great food at a good price! We enjoyed our meal and drinks. The chicken melt was great!

What happened!!! When the Tavern first opened everything was great! Food, service, drinks. I have been through patterns of disappointment each time I have been, and this last time was the worst. The service was slooooow, my order for a taste of beer was forgotten, the staff didn’t know what was in the food(for allergy/intolerance purposes), and when our orders came, I was not impressed. My Hot Mess sandwich was something I could have made at home. The bread wasn’t even toasted, and it was a little to neat and tidy for something to be called a ‘hot mess’. This place has such great potential, the atmosphere is great, location is fun, but needs to work on the basics: food, and service.

This is a new edition in Columbia. It’s Irish/English pub food and cheap drinks. $ 5 shot and a beer and the most expensive menu item is $ 12. You really can go wrong at this place and the staff is always friendly.

Went here for a «GALentines» Brunch yesterday with some of my girlfriends and we all had a phenomenal experience. Quick, friendly service and excellent food with big portions. They also had fresh squeezed mimosas and bloody Mary’s(we all got the mimosas). Everybody was surprised at the large servings and the excellent food quality. It came out quick and it was all SO good. One friend raved about the biscuits and gravy(apparently they’re way better than Café Berlin’s) and the others loved their breakfast burritos. I got the Captain Crunch crusted French toast which was amazing. We all agreed we’d be coming back for brunch days in the future!!! The only thing I would recommend is maybe doing a Bloody Mary bar or a price option for bottomless mimosas(or a time option like«11−2» or something) to attract more people in to try their delicious brunch!

This is possibly my new favorite hangout in Columbia. I’ve been several times. The service is always excellent regardless of how busy they are. I’d like to mention that some friends had a get together there one night, and the bar staff accommodated by running a martini special. This is a tavern… it’s really about beer there, but they went out of their way, and can make some bangin’ dirty martinis. Tonight, I ate there for the first time. The black bean burger is AWESOME! Reasonable portions that are affordable too.

This is a small, intimate place where you can go and eat good food at great prices and enjoy good beer. It’s a place for those of us over 30 who don’t always want to socialize with the college crowd. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Wish they had some vegan options, but otherwise no complaints!

Kind and generous with gluten-free orders I’ve been to Wolf’s Head tavern several times. When I walked in, my first impression was that it was a very masculine place! Plaster wolfs-head plaques in various colors, lots of dark wood and dark tables, and a well-lit bar. I wasn’t sure I would fit in. However, when I asked for the special of the day without bread, the server didn’t ask a lot of probing questions or give me the eye — you know the one — that says that I’m a pretentious person for either avoiding gluten or carbs. I can’t eat wheat, it’s a thing, and I like it when restaurants appreciate my need to take care of myself. So I’ve had the mushroom burger, reuben, and chicken melt all without the bread. These were delicious! I highly recommend pairing them with the broccoli, which was just the right amount of crisp and well-seasoned. Thumbs up from me! Also, when I asked for coffee, I was given a whole carafe of French press coffee. Someone knows the way to my heart. .. sweet, sweet coffee.

Wolf’s Head Tavern was an enjoyable experience with delicious food and a relaxed atmosphere. My husband and I went for dinner and ordered an Irish Reuben, the Hot Mess sandwich, a side of Mac N’ Cheese and two side salads. Total for drinks and dinner was $ 30 for two people. The Hot Mess(a variation on a Cuban sandwich) was tasty, and the Reuben was done right with the perfect slaw to corned beef ratio. The sandwiches were each around $ 5 – 6, which isn’t bad. The salads were exceptionally delicious and the mac n’ cheese was definitely chock-full of creamy goodness. The sides were $ 5 each, which seemed a little steep for the portions, but the quality of the food made up for it. We didn’t do too much drinking, but they had a nice selection of local/regional beers on tap at decent prices. They had a cocktail special that sounded yummy, and a «beer plus a shot» special for $ 5(we saved that for another time). Another thing I liked was that the prices you see are what you get(tax-included). They also don’t have paper menus. All their offerings are listed on a blackboard, and because the space is not too large, it works for them. I’m sure it allows flexibility with the menu, too. Everything from the music choices(which I loved) to the server’s friendly attitude created the relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. We will be back!

Outstanding! All around great experience. Mac n cheese is awesome, Reuben is awesome, black bean burger is super awesome. Beer prices during happy hour– STELLAR. The service was incredible, not often do you have an owner serving you lunch. Helpless to outstanding pub food with a cultural and exciting crowd? I rate this place a 5 out of 5.

Walked in as a party of three and noticed the sign said please seat yourself. We started to walk through the tables and the first four person table we came across was filthy, so we go on to the next one but by the time we get to it one of the staff members has approached it and tells us that the table is taken already and gestures toward a large party of college aged students milling by the door and he begins shoving tables together. This seemed a bit contradictory to the seat yourself policy, but hey no big deal we will go back to the other available table. We get seated and a female server takes our drink order, I ask if they have Coke or Pepsi products and she says she doesn’t know but thinks Pepsi. I order a Dr. Pepper and am told they only have Mr. Pibb so I let her know they carry Coke products, not Pepsi if that is the case. She walks away to fulfill our drink order and a male server arrives asking if he can take our drink order… We informed him that another server already had and then he goes over the menu with us(since it is a chalkboard, no menus to be had in hand, and they didn’t include the brunch menu on the board) gesturing uncomfortably close to my face during the process. We let him know we need a few minutes since we hadn’t been there before. We wait about 20 minutes for a server to return, and place our order with the female server. When our food arrives two of our party gets their full meals and one of us only gets our side(Mac and Cheese) and is told our sandwich(a Reuben) will be out shortly. This party member eats their side and then gets to enjoy watching everyone else eat their ENTIRE meal while waiting on their sandwich to arrive. During the time that we spent waiting on the sandwich another table of dinners are brought their meal, which includes a Reuben sandwich. Come to find out, that table had in fact changed their order for a Reuben prior to it being requested from the kitchen but the service staff had taken it to them anyway by mistake. The staff failed to stop at our table to explain anything regarding the hold up the entire time and actually had to be flagged down to be asked about where our sandwich was. It was by and large the WORST service experience I have had in a VERY long time, and the food was mediocre at best. It was a very disappointing experience and the only highlight was the Mac and Cheese, which is why the review is two stars instead of one. We definitely will NOT be returning since they can’t seem to get their service coordinated and professional.

Listen, Wolf’s Head is doing is right. To amend my last post, the interior has been updated– atmosphere affected — and the menu has expanded with some excellent pricing. I’m sold. I will be coming back. Service has never been an issue here(which is a big factor for me). Drinks specials are solid. The crowd doesn’t seem too cliquey where you feel like you have to be in the friend group to show up. I’m a fast growing fan. Well done, Wolf’s Head. You’ll see my ugly mug again soon. Sorry for ya!

A gastro pub with extremely well prepared meals of various types. Excellent Mac and cheese and well prepared potatoes as sides. The service was excellent as both knowledgeable and attentive. Atmosphere was a bit trivial as pink and blue wolves heads were the only definition for the restrooms. Noise level was acceptable.

Amazing food, amazing drinks, and an amazing atmosphere! The menu is ever changing and everything I’ve tried has been great. That combined with friendly workers and fun atmosphere really give this place a «homey» feel. Great new Irish pub that Columbia very much needed!

I was very impressed the first time I went here. With A better selection of micro brews then most bars in Columbia I can honestly say wolf s head is quickly becoming my favorite watering hole. Also the rotating food menu provides the chance to try new amazing dishes. Honestly the food is a good enough reason to check this place out. A new home for any columbia foodies tired of the same old thing. Ps best service I have gotten in awhile.

I am hesitant to give this place a good review, because I feel like I’ve found a new gem in town and I’d like to keep it to myself. Came for dinner and drinks, had not heard or seen anything about this place before, so the quality of the food was a tremendously pleasant surprise. All dishes we ordered were brilliant, the classics were well made and the new recipes were even better. Good beer selection, very attentive staff, nice environment and good sound level. Will definitely be back.

The wife and I had the Fish N’Chips and Paddy’s Poppers. The fish was cod and cooked well along with a very good slaw, it had a different flavour but good. They also have Guinness on tap! So I have to say we will be back.

Nice atmosphere, good crowd of people, friendly owners, and really tasty food. I’m a fan of places where I can simply stop by for a beer OR get some tasty food – and feel comfortable either way. I also like bars where you can get just a small snack, like a $ 5 sandwich, when you’re planning to primarily drink your dinner. Wolf’s Head was a perfect balance. My wife had the fish and chips and thought it was excellent, The fish was only lightly breaded and fried, which is a unfortunately rare. Places tend to batter the hell out of the fish to the point where you can’t even judge the quality, She also liked the slaw as a simple side to balance the fish and pub fries, I had the black bean burger, which was handmade and covered in a sauce that was just spicy enough to add some complexity to the meal. Add the that an interesting beer selection – Boulevard Calling IPA, local Bur Oak Brown, Original Sin Cherry Cider, etc. – and we were 100% satisfied. We’ll be back. (Why not 5 stars? Just waiting to see how it grows. Looked like they had some pizza ovens in the back, which would expand the menu just a tiny bit. Have to come on a weekend night to see how the crowd is. So definitely some five-star potential on my next visit.)
