Pulling into the Palmer park area you’ll wonder if you missed it, but its further up the road past the baseball fields by maybe a quarter mile. There are enough options for parking on two sides of the fenced dog run. Pros: There is a small-dog area fenced off from the large dog area with a separate entry. Both areas have a double-gate entry to prevent escapes and allow safer introductions. The large dog area is a good size and has some big logs in there for the dogs to play on, and a couple benches for sitting. Small-dog area is mostly long but has enough room, but not much for terrain. The fence is complete all the way around. There are usually some left-behind toys(sometimes a soccer ball or Frisbee, usually a few tennis balls) in the large dog area. Cons: The first entry gate to the small-dog area won’t close completely due to sand buildup. It has been that way for the few times I’ve been there in the course of this month. I’ve never seen any dog-poo bags in the holders, so you’ll have to make sure you have your own. Any bags you fill must be disposed of in a dumpster that is a short walk outside the dog area, near one of the parking areas, there aren’t any bins in/around the dog run. Fence is fairly low, I’d guess 3.5−4 ft. high. I haven’t seen any try to jump it, but just outside is the hiking area of the park, so there’s plenty of land to run to. Beware the further ends from the benches, obviously not all owners feel the need to walk more than 30 feet to pick up poop. The run has a lot of sandy dirt in the front, but the mud isn’t too bad after rain — more sandy. Overall this is an adequate dog park for some good off-leash time. Some inconveniences and cleanliness/maintenance bumped this down to 2 stars.

None of the dog owners here watch their dogs or pick up after them. The big dirt field is full of poop and with only two logs to sit on, that’s where the owners sit and watch the pups do what ever they want. We had top leave after my wife was pee’d on by someones dog. No clue whom the owner was, but it looks like they didn’t care. Never coming back to this park again. Sad really, the rest of Palmer Park is great.

This is a dirt run surrounded by a chain link fence. Unless you live across the street in a place without a yard, I’d highly recommend that you head over to any other dog park in the springs.(OR use the actual park and take your dog on the trails) The people here seem to insist on talking to you endlessly about their dog and the dumb things that it does that they think are so incredible… I’ve experienced way more annoying dog parents here than any other dog park in town. Your dog will come home covered in slobber and dirt, and many people don’t seem to use caution with introductions with their pet. Many often don’t regard the safety of the other dogs around theirs. «He’s friendly! Don’t worry! He’s friendly!!» They holler at you as their dog chases yours down and starts biting him unprovoked. No. Not friendly, and I won’t take my dog here again. This is really just a dirt doggy day care for people that want to hear themselves talk and let their misbehaved canine run a muck. Yes, a muck., Tip: unless you can’t go anywhere else, and your pet desperately is needing time with other dogs, take your pet to the trails or head to another dog park… Or even cottonwood creek park. There’s GRASSANDOTHERDOGS… Unless your dog is a jerk, in which case take them no where, but love them endlessly. Hashtag much better option there. The end.

Palmer Park is okay but the dog park is small and very quiet. It’s okay if you have more than one dog or come at a time when there are other dogs but it can be very quiet. I’d suggest going to one of the larger parks or taking your dog on a hiking trail instead.

This is actually for the open space area at Ute crest. Many trails and lots of space to hike around with your dog. And it’s off leash! My previous review on this and many of the other ones are for the small fenced dog park near the entrance of the park. Two different places in Palmer Park.

NEVEREVEREVERAGAIN. This was the place of one of the most frightening experiences of my life. I have a 4-pound Pom. He was about 2-years-old at the time. We had just moved here. I took him to this park to run since we live in a condo. We were the only person/dog in the small dog area. He was just sniffing around and playing fetch. I was on the phone with my mom with my back turned to the big dog area, watching my dog. Out of NOWHERE a pit bull came streaking into the small dog area with his owner running after him screaming. It apparently broke into the small dog area — I have no idea how. The pit pounced on my dog, and I ran at them yelling. It was only a couple seconds until the pit’s owner was on top of it pull it and hitting it. It let go of my dog, who was Unilocaling and screaming. The owner apologized quickly and said her dog was just playing and that he was just a «jerk» sometimes when he was playing. I didn’t have time to get her license plate number or anything so I could report her dog. I picked up my dog, who was bleeding, and rushed him to his vet. He ended up being OK. Thankfully, he has such long hair I think it was deceiving to the pit. His entire neck was completely soaked with the pit’s saliva though. And he had lacerations. I’ve never taken my dog back to this dog park — or any dog park. My husband is an attorney and prosecutes these kinds of cases. Apparently, in Colorado if you take your dog to the park you essentially waive all rights to sue or press charges if anything happens to your dog. By taking your dog to a park you accept the chances you take. No more dog parks for us.

My son and I both love hiking through Palmer park. Lots of trails to choose from. You can find old Indian carvings. Lots of dog friendly people. And great area to stay healthy. Kids can run around and get energy out.

Its not that nice here. Its fenced in dirt. No fun structures. So if you want to take your dog home covered in dirt, mud, dust and let them in your house… Go right ahead. People are fugly and unfriendly. *Thats a disclaimer if you think youre picking up chicks here with your dog.* Stick to the play area at the park entrance… Thats where the ladies hang out with their small dogs… YOUAREWELCOME!!!

Decent dog park, close to the house, usually a good amount of friendly dogs there.

This park isn’t too horrible. I mean, Palmer Park is nice, but this dog park is kind of… meh. It’s mostly a big circle of dirt; I did notice that they finally put up a fence for a small dog area though so that’s nice. It’s small and again, just dirt; no creek or hills or anything really interesting. Just a giant yard for your dog to run off leash. If you’re going to go through the hassle of dog hair in your car you might as well head over to Bear Creek where the good dog park is.
