My second time going here. I was visiting some friends and you can’t beat the price here for all you can eat. Again as I experience the first time I went… I ordered 3 rounds(yes I can eat!) and the waitress made a are you serious face. Way to hide how you really feel. And I saw her walking away and grabbing another waitress to comment about my table, lots of attitude snd giggles. I’m Asian, I understand what you’re saying!##!! They also forgot some of the dishes. Wow, service here is terrible. I really feel uncomfortable eating here. At least this time they didn’t hand the check until it was requested.

This place is called sushi x. On central ave. Its a really good place to go for unlimited sushi its like 20 something dollars too. They have cards that you check off what you want to have and they bring it in rounds. Cheaper than other places to eat for sushi. Im still looking at you bankok bistro and your 12 dollar rolls!

We decided to go here for a Hibachi lunch and opted not to do the all you can eat option. Maybe it was an «off» day at Hibachi X, but either way it was an awful restaurant. Service was extremely slow. The waitress took our order. Very simple– Two Hibachi Chickens. One of us got extra rice. This through her for a loop and another waitress came back about 5 mins later and retook our order. So we waited and waited and then got our clear soup, followed by the skimpy salad portion. Then came the extra side of rice, about 10 mins later one of the meals and five mins later the other meal. Why it didn’t come all at once is beyond me but whatever. So the chicken was so bad and chewy I couldn’t even stomach to eat it. The vegi’s were gross. IDK how you can even mess up on vegetables. The rice was pretty good, I will give them that. The ginger and the shrimp dipping sauces weren’t too bad either. Over all though, the place was awful and service was beyond poor. Glad I only went there with one other person and didn’t embarrass myself by bringing a group of friends to this one.

This place made me nervous. $ 23 all you can eat sushi seems like a good deal but I wasn’t brave enough to try it so my fiancé did. The BBQ squid was god awful. Tough, chewy and old tasting. He said the sushi wasn’t bad for what you pay for but I would much rather pay a few extra bucks and not have to worry if I would be up all night after eating it. I personally got the hibachi special. Which is 5 courses for $ 19. Again not horrible, soup and salad are the basics you get everywhere. For the appetizer I picked a shumai which came out fried(never seen that before) and was greasy. the hibachi tables are gone so it comes from the kitchen and again was really greasy. I skipped the ice cream at the end because I was full and dissatisfied. Won’t go back.

I have been here a few times now. It’s hard to write a truly knowledgeable review on a first try. So now that I have been about 4 times, I will say this. I am almost certain they recognize repeat customers. Because the first 2 times we went in we truly enjoyed the food AND the service. Since then, both the sushi AND the service have slid downhill quickly. To order our first round of rolls, etc. and wait 45MINUTES for the food to arrive was ridiculous. The sushi was almost warm. They forgot wasabi and ginger on our second round, which arrived about an hour and 15 minutes into our arrival. All in all, we felt like they were purposely slow to try and avoid us eating too much. The icing on the crap cake was the fact that after all the waiting, lousy service and warm, less than stellar sushi, was the fact that our table of only 4 had a 15% gratuity added onto the bill automatically. Given the choice, we would have left a dollar. I will never go to this crappy place again. I hope they go out of business. I will gladly pay a little extra money for a regular sit down sushi meal…

The person who took my reservation for my boyfriend’s 30th birthday dinner with friends messed up. The person at the restaurant never informed me the hibachi was no longer available and to seat a party wouldn’t be easy. The manager informed us once we got there, there was no way she could serve and seat us and that our reservation meant nothing, we would have to wait an hour and a half just to be seated and probably longer to be served as it is too difficult for the kitchen to serve that many people at once without the hibachi. Very impolite and inconsiderate of the 10 people waiting in front of her. Never going back.

I’ve been to Hibachi X several times. The sushi and sashimi was good and fresh and would normally rate this restaurant 4 stars. However, the service leaves much to be desired. Most of the wait staff seem to have trouble speaking or understanding English. Very little attention was paid to our table, so if you need a drink refill or to order more food you would have to catch them as they zipped by. Also, many times the food delivered did not include all that was ordered.

Best sushi deal ever! When it comes to buffets, I don’t have very high expectations. I thought they would just have the standard rolls available for the buffet, but it turns out that they have pretty much everything on their menu(minus the hibachi) included for the buffet! Their fish all tasted very fresh, and I especially loved their salmon. It was just the right amount of fatty. They had a lot of interesting combinations. Their tuna tartar, tuna carpaccio, and their jalepeno tuna appetizer are all amazing. I love that they don’t have a limit on how much you order, but I learned the hard way not to order too many things with too avocado, as that can get really heavy. Their specialty rolls are great, and their hand rolls are great as well. I also love that you can order as much sashimi as you want — there isn’t a limit to 5 pieces of salmon, or 5 pieces of tuna the way there is at some other sushi buffets that I’ve been to. The buffet is something that I would highly, highly recommend, but I haven’t had the chance to try their hibachi. Either way, it’s a very trendy atmosphere, with decent customer service. I’m not sure if they have a structure when it comes to who waits what tables. The many times I’ve been there, multiple waiters/waitresses would come up to me asking if I needed anything. It seemed like when I needed someone to take my order, I would have to wait for a while, but when I was all set, 2 – 3 different people would ask me if I was all set. It was a bit frustrating, but the quality of the fish and the flavors of their rolls definitely makes up for it.

Came here to celebrate the birthday of a friend’ who really likes this place and its brother restaurant, «Sushi X», in Latham(which lacks the«Hibachi» side). Both restaurants have an amazing deal…22.99 bucks for unlimited sushi and appetizers. I hadn’t had sushi in a while, and all of us in attendance were very hungry. Before you get too excited, there is reason why they are able to offer such a cheap deal — .the fish they use is far from fresh. I did have a good time here though. The décor was nice, the environs were comfortable, and we ordered A LOT of food. However, I was very concerned for my insides. In my gluttony, I had digested way too much raw, warm, mushy fish disguised amid a lot of flavored mayonnaise, gooey avocado, and whatever else they put on their rolls. I think most of the time, we had no idea what we were even eating. I also noticed that they were hardly even serving us the rolls we ordered. At some point, they gave up, and just brought out whatever thinking we wouldn’t notice. We almost didn’t. If you happen to go, play it safe — order a lot of the cooked appetizers, and get the fried tempura(crispy) rolls. That way, at least you may go to bed that night with less anxiety over your well-being. I am not so sure I would come back, but given that I survived, they did have a tasty seaweed salad, and there will be another birthday next year to go to…

This review is for the sushi side of Hibachi X only. When you walk in, you have the option of the hibachi grills on the left or sushi on the right. Like its cousin, Sushi X, it’s all you can eat, and at a cost of $ 22.99 for dinner. Compared to Sushi X, it’s quieter and more comfortable. You get actual menus and waitresses who take your order, as opposed to paper and pencils. Service was generally prompt and attentive, but it was also a very quiet evening. I’d like to see what it’s like when it’s busier, because the service does deteriorate slightly at Sushi X when it gets busy. The appetizers were mixed. The spring rolls were tasty but small. The tempura vegetables were just right. The hot and sour soup had the distinctive hotness and sourness, but not much flavor beyond that. All the sushi selections we tried came out quickly, without a lot of flair. Then again, when you’re ordering buffet style, you probably don’t care as much about presentation. Everything was good, though admittedly, we stuck with very traditional rolls. We got wasabi and pickled ginger with our first dish of sushi, but we got no additional wasabi or ginger on any subsequent plates. If you’re going to a place for all you can eat sushi, you probably have expectations for the quality and quantity of your sushi. I think you’ll leave reasonably satisfied and quite full. For me, Hibachi X merits a return trip or two to fully experience it. I want to try the hibachi side, and I’d like to try more of the sushi.

This place is top notch. Classy, Clean, and the décor is «interesting» but bright and colorful. The food is excellent and may just be the best sushi in the area. Oishi

Last time I visited Hibachi X, I gave it one star. It was my only single-star rated place ever. After my visit tonight, I’m giving it five stars. This is my first ever five-star rating. They’ve really turned the place around. There’s an all-you-can-eat special that ends up being $ 25 after tax.(Unlike Sushi X, gratuity isn’t included on the check automatically.) All three of us got that. We tried quite a few rolls. Every one of them tasted fresh and flavorful. In fact, even though the sushi offerings were almost the same as what’s available at Sushi X, the rolls had a more appealing taste and texture that what is served at the sister location. It was the same with the appetizers too. Drinks are 2 for 1 every day. Speaking of drinks, Kassandra was the bartender. She was very friendly and even got the sushi chef to make a special roll for us when I mentioned we liked spicy stuff. Unlike Sushi X, the server takes your order from a menu rather than writing it down on a form. This allows you to be sure your order comes out the way you want it. The restaurant plays what seems to be top 40 music. It isn’t too loud or too crowded. There was no rush to leave at all. If you like sushi, go to this place. You will get more than your money’s worth.

I don’t get these other reviews of anything less than 4*. I went almost 2 weeks ago and they had just started the«all you can eat sushi» deal, similar to their other restaurant, Sushi X in Latham. My good fortune! I went back again a week later and I“m on my way there today. The atmosphere here is «upscale, NYC Asian Chic»(I hope that’ description is not offensive to anyone). Three major Preferences for Habachi X… 1. the Sashimi pieces are much larger; similar to most sushi restaurants 2. the offer Tuna Sashimi; Sushi X does not 3. The waitresses(Tiffany), speaks and understands English well; brought clean plates mid way through the meal, refilled tea and water routinely, and was helpful in describing what was served on the large plate of sushi. For @ $ 23PP for all you can eat, quality, fresh sushi, I can’t imagine going anywhere else in the area other than Sushi X or Habachi X. BTW, the food from the kitchen was also very good. Rock Shrimp, Tuna Tartar, Red Snapper Jalapeño, Tuna Carpaccio, Red Snapper Teriyaki…, Shrimp Tempura, etc., what more could you ask for? I’m a fan. I’m not a Habaci guy, so I have no opinion on that other than I have a place to go with my friends who enjoy Habaci and do not eat sushi. Try it for all you can eat sushi, you won’t be disappointed!

I’m puzzled by the one star reviews. I’ve been here 3 times and every time it’s been great. And I think I know sushi. The ambience and music is Metro, we sit at the sushi bar generally. We’ve done the ½ off special from 4:30 — 7PM and it can’t be beat. I drink vodka martini’s and both them and the sushi are 50% off. No issues. Hmmm. The sushi is really well made and fresh. The sweet shrimp(shrimp with heads) are to die for — I love their little tempura fried heads… mmmmm… crunch crunch… Anyway: the sushi is really a stand-out, the bar has a great bartender(many oriental places just don’t know how to make drinks — but not here — the drinks are generous and like I”d make them at home.) I think we’re fortunate to have good places like this around — I hope others vist(as they this place is new) and spread the word, as I want them to do well… the value for the money is great. ALSO — they have a three roll, with Soup and Salad deal for $ 13!!! How can you beat that as a quick pick up for dinner!?! Soup, salad and three rolls for $ 13 — epsecially when a roll at other places runs for $ 5 — $ 6…(note — these are not specialty rolls, they are things like, Spicy Salmon, Spicy Scallop, Eeel Avacado, California, you know, the basic, non-specialty rolls.) Anyway — a great, healthy allternative to usual take out at a very reasonable price. I’ve been to Hana many times, Ichiban, Koto, and this is better than Ichi Ban and Koto and on a par with Hana. I do hope this helps.

Here I go again. I went for«happy hour» last night because it’s 2 for 1. Or so they say! I asked again, how does this work? The waitress told me that the drinks were 2 for 1 and the sushi bar food was also. I asked here were all the sake included and she said the house sake was. Once again, I had to ask to be told the rules for ½ price. I ordered: 6 rolls from the 2 rolls for $ 9 and 3 rolls for $ 12 menu, and two appetizers and two large sake cold. I ate, received the bill and here’s what I got: 6 rolls, 2 of which were free and the other four were full price, two sake, one of which was free, and two appetizers, one of which was free. The bill $ 32 and change. The correct bill should have been $ 9 for sake, $ 4 for appetizers and $ 12 for sushi or $ 25. I was overcharged again! It is worth $ 32, but not if the bill is supposed to be $ 25. No one is going to play money games with a restaurant. I won’t go back again. It’s absurd. This is an odd place. I went back for the ½ price 4:30 to 7:00 period. I called to ask if everything was half price and the woman who answered told me that it was from 4:30 until 7pm. I showed up, ordered two cold sake(Ozeki Dry), Tako Su, Barbecue Ika, Tekka maki, Hamachi Maki, Salmon skin Maki and baby octopus. Then we had another round of sake. It was good. This time the baby octopus and the Tako su was great, but less pieces of octopus. When the bill came, the sake was full price, and the rolls were not discounted. I asked the waitress why it was not half price and she told me that some things weren’t: cold sake… I told her I’d called in advance and the waitress who seated us didn’t say anything about it, so how would we know that? She reduced the price of the sake, but not the sushi. I was uncomfortable with the nonsense about money. It’s loud. Way too loud, with fans for the hibachi, music and kids. I would like to feel comfortable here, but suspect it will not last. Sad.

Hibachi X is a hip new hibachi grill following the same vibe as Sushi X. Hidden right in front of your face on Central Ave, this converted Steak House could use a little love on the exterior because if we weren’t invited by our friends, we would have never known it was open for business. That said, the newly renovated interior revealed a super cool world of fantastic happy hour drink specials, friendly staff, and pretty decent food. After we arrived, three of us headed to the bar to wait for our 4th guest, where we were greeted with by friendliest bartender and even friendlier 2−4−1 Happy Hour drink & app specials from 4−7pm. There we reveled at the restaurant’s ultra cool design borrowed from their Sushi X sister site. But what struck us the most is that the place was almost completely empty — most likely due to the updates still needed on the building’s exterior. After our buddy arrived, we sat down at the hibachi grill. It’s not normally my thing; but nobody was there; so there was no wait; so why not? I ordered from the Five Course $ 18.95 Menu where I stared with the mushroom broth soup, then spring rolls, followed by the chicken & shrimp hibachi with noodles, and finally fried cheesecake with whip cream. My only criticism is that the starter portions of the soup and spring rolls felt a bit small compared to the large meal and huge fried cheesecake dessert. And overall the experience was pretty darn good, akin to a less expensive Benihana, but then again it’s really hard to mess up hibachi? So if you’re looking for a cool Happy Hour to hang out with your friends after work, or if you want that«Benihana-like» experience for a birthday or a night out with your buddies, but you don’t want to go broke in the process, definitely check Hibachi X out before everyone finds out about it and you can’t get in!
