It’s quaint with a friendly staff. The food is tasty and the ambience is nice. It’s extremely busy at lunch, so be prepared to wait a minute for a table. The appetizers are wonderful. The homestyle cooking is some if the best I’ve had in this area. It’s in a fantastic location.

Great home style cooking! Pot Roast, squash casserole, homemade pies! Are you hungry yet? Butter beans, green beans corn bread. Get the picture? Definitely the place to be in Collierville!

Quaint little place. One problem is the bathroom. I read an article that a famous chef wrote…“if the bathroom is clean it is almost certain that the kitchen would be spotless”. Well, the bathroom almost made me puke. It was a make — shift bathroom. Somebody’s work shirt was hanging on the door, the floor was gross cement/tile. They only have one bathroom! Oh come on! The decore was old. The place needs a make over. Then I saw a young lady fill the ice machine with a bucket if ice… where did they get their ice from? Our waitresses was wonder, and the yeast rolls were awsome. It was nice, food was mediocre. My kids enjoyed but I do not have to return.

I wasn’t that impressed. Ok home style country cooking. It wasn’t bad but once was enough.

I really enjoyed this restaurant located in a beautiful serene historic setting. I had chicken & dumplin’s, baby Lima beans, purple hull peas and blackberry cobbler alamode! It was fantastic! My mother had the catfish and it was fantastic too! The dumplings are rolled instead of dropped which I prefer. Oh and lest I omit the rolls… Best I have ever put in my mouth!!!

The Silver Caboose is THE place for lunch with your girlfriends. The fried pickles are fabulous. Be sure to save room for their chocolate chess pie.

Tried this place today with a friend. I ordered the silver plate special which was chicken asparagus casserole, mash potatoes and cinnamon apples. Overall, I thought the food was pretty good especially for the price. I would go there again.

This is a charming and old fashioned little restaurant in the Collierville Town Square. The décor is cute with the trains that circle the dining area. The server was very friendly and attentive. The food is not very good. The meat loaf was rather cold and swimming in Ketchup. The mashed potatoes were cold and lacked seasoning. The French fries were the frozen type.

Love Silver Caboose! Their daily short menu has tasty home cooked selections. The collard greens, okra & purple hull peas great! Their homebaked deserts fantastic! Must try the caboose!

What a cute little place! I adore the trains going round and round. Plus it is located on the Collierville square and there are few places more charming than it(talk about a step back in time or quick trip to Mayberry). The food is consistently good but the charm factor is what is really through the roof. You can expect a bit of a wait though… it is a popular place.

Great home cooking. The daily special is always delicious. The best part about our visit is the blackberry cobbler. We try to go there at least once a week to indulge ourselves. Also the décor is very unique. Actual electric trains running around a track above the eating area on one side. If you have never been you should go.

I visited here for the first time today. The food that I got was good! But… I had a few issues while I was there. First, I was going to order a Club an Sourdough bread, but they were out. So I ordered a meat and two from the daily special menu. While I was waiting for my food, I had to kill four ants on my table. When The waitress came by I mentioned the ants and found two more and showed her. Her response was«humm». No offer to move me or anything. I travel a lot but this is the first time that I can recall ants on my table. I was disappointed with my visit.

I have been eating here since I was a child. I great up in Collierville and this place was always my families after church lunch place! The club sandwich is always a yes but they have the BEST veggie plates! The veggie plates are yummy home cooking! The restaurant is family own and ran. The last time I went I ordered the veal and two veggies with it: sweet potato casserole and squash casserole. It was delicious! I left nothing on that plate! I ordered the blackberry cobbler for dessert with scoop of vanilla ice cream… It was to die for! It is always a treat when I get to go to this place for lunch. Brings back great childhood memories! Looking forward to the next time!

A buddy and I checked this place out today. The wait seemed pointless. There were open tables, but they kept us in a line waiting. And the logistics were all screwy. I was saddened that they had run out of Chicken Fried Steak, so I had to settle for the Pot Roast. It was very flavourful and delicious. But the belle of the ball was the spinach casserole. I would probably return, but the crowd isn’t the typical co-patrons I dine with.

The food and comfortable southern atmosphere are excellent. The wait staff is friendly. If you enjoy good home cooking, you will love this place. It’s my wife’s favorite restaurant. They have an old fashioned soda fountain. Make sure you try the hot fudge Sundae!

Oh no… 2 stars means I regret spending the money. What a fun little spot for those of you not from Memphis. The Silver Caboose is situated on the«downtown square» of Collierville. We were there right before Christmas and the square was decorated. The restaurant is local, filled with locals. A good sign you might think, not really. Walking in, the restaurant feels welcoming, with an extensive model train system rolling above head. We went for lunch and were excited to try the sandwiches and sides. They were all bland and completely uninspired. I feel like the restaurant takes short cuts. Everything tastes as if it was frozen or from a can. I love the concept of «home cookin» but in the world according to Ross, real home cooking is with fresh ingredients and some creativity, not out of the freezer and can.

This is one of those few place that I will take friends and family out of town to when they visit Memphis. Silver Caboose is a very classy southern charm place located in the most southern charming town square in the area! The décor inside is just amazing. This is also the place where I started liking collard greens. There are also great pies, cookies, and shakes! Just coming here for dessert after Gus’s across the rail is what I do!

The Silver Caboose is fantastic. I am that one weird person that doesn’t care too much for home cooking, but I absolutely loved the food I had at the Silver Caboose both times that I went. The portions are perfect so that you’re full, but you don’t need to be rolled out the door for your nap. The atmosphere is very nice, the interior is very nice and they have an area of the restaurant with trains, perfect to pull kids attention.

Located in Historic Collierville, this«Sunday Diner» features all the home cooked meals. Specials are brought to the table handwritten on a piece of paper. I enjoyed my pot roast, squash casserole, and fried okra combination. Corn sticks and rolls come with the meal. Be sure to save room for dessert, as they have an ice cream fountain shop in house. I had me a combination strawberry with cookies and cream milk shake to pair up with a slice of warm chess pie. Delish! Will be back again, but only for lunch when they’re open.

Milkshakes are AMAZING! Desserts are so good here. Vegetables change daily and I would stick to them… the meat plates have never been good. But get the vegetable plate and dessert and you can’t go wrong. It’s a great place for kids but good without too. They seem to try to seat kids on the side with the train that runs along the entire ceiling. There’s a little market within where u can grab frozen meals for home too as well as, spices, marinades, dessers, etc. Always good service! I wish they were open for dinner, but currently just on Fridays. You can call each day to find out the veggies of the day. Great lunch spot!
