Have been big fan of MOM since moving to Hyattsville many years ago. Nice folks work in this store – very friendly and know what they’re doing & talking about. Good selection of what you want and need and good selection of bulk health food items and health care products. we sometimes shop at the YES which is very close to us here in H-ville, but it’s not the same community vibe you get at MOM. we’ve also hit the new MOM down on NY Ave in WDC and it’s an amazing store(but I’ll rate that later). We like MOM, we like their philosophy, and we will continue being customers here as long as they keep doing great things.

This is my go to store. Trader Joe’s is too far in either direction of Laurel, but I found this gem. I like the location and proximity to the 495 and it is a quaint shopping center. I like the way Mom’s is set up. Great selection! Although the prices are above my expectations, the customer service is fantastic. The lines are always quick, the workers are always helpful with taking your bags to the car. I need to remember to carry dollars to tip! This likely has nothing to do with the store… but the patrons and workers are so diverse. I enjoy seeing families up and down the aisle(and even their pets don’t bother me). I can always find exactly what I need here. glad this is my neighborhood store!

I’m regular shopper at moms. It’s convenient to where I live Thank God. They have the higher quality vegetables and fruit. The best fresh bread and the county, I like the onion dill rye. And the cheapest almond milk in the area. They also have great customer service. Tell even carry your bags out to your car for you. And no, I’m not too manly to have my bags carried for me.

I will never come back here again! Its not that the store is not stocked with everything organic, its that the cashier who works at this particular MOM’s completely racially profiled me and I no longer am spending my money at a business that does not think my money is good enough. My boyfriend and I stopped by to pick up some groceries, I really didn’t see too much that we needed so I just decided to get a few plantains and chocolate milk. Well, when I went to pay at the register the total came up to 5 dollars and change, I handed the cashier a 20 dollar bill she proceeds to hold it up to the light 2 – 3 times to check if it was a counterfeit bill, then mark it with the black marker to really really make sure that it was not a counterfeit bill. I was so upset, there were so many people in the store and it just happens that my 20 dollar bill you have to check extra extra times just to make sure it was real. I did not see this same cashier put the money that other customers gave her through such an examination. She appeared to take an additional measure of caution due to us being black customers in the store. I was shocked, at this type of behavior, and I will make sure that the community knows about this type of service at MOM’s organic market in college park. I will take my business and my real money elsewhere.

Time and time again I find my produce at Mom’s to be so superior. My strawberries taste like strawberries should taste, not some flavorless disappointing faux fruit. The peaches — the most flavorful sweet tasting peaches I have had since childhood. The greens, produce, breads, are fresher and amazing and last longer than any other store — and I have been to them all over the years. The other selections of food items are all top drawer. The cherry on top is the fact that you have a business that thinks about all aspects of the experience from compostable bags for produce to recycling batteries and running on wind power. This is the best store ever — Thanks MOM.

My favorite grocery store ever! Great prices, lots of local fresh fruits and vegetables, awesome customer service AND I can charge my electric car for free :) couldn’t get better than this. Oh yes, and I also refil my water gallons for 0.39c yeeey!

Best local grocer in College Park! Powered by wind energy and they even have electric car charge parking. Next to REI, always a big plus. Fresh bread that will make you drool. Produce with crunch and punch. Good selection of gluten free, organic, dairy free, raw, or whatever your food preference is chow. Looking for bulk spices, nuts, legumes and grains? yep! And ample parking for all the non bicyclists, just please keep the bikers safe!

How can you not love Mom’s? Just come and experience it for yourself. I could write a full review, but it won’t justify Mom’s at all. Also, bring your own bags. You get 10 cents off each bag.

Who else helps carry your grocery to your vehicle after checking out? And I’m talking about a relatively mid-size supermarket. Love the friendly and eco friendly staff! Offers sufficient selections of organic products. The produce and deli sections might be out depending on the time in the day. Try their breads! It’s the best.

Best grocery store I have been to. The vegetarian and vegan selection is top notch and the customer service is phenomenal. I highly recommend this store.

Sales at every corner seem to abound at this MOM’s. Maybe it’s because this MOM’s is so small compared to all the other ones that I’ve been to in Rockville, Merrifield and Alexandria. When you walk in, it’s the same single sliding electric door where people will also be walking out, right by checkout. It’s a little strange, but the layout is user friendly after that. Though small, they have the basics that you need in every major and many minor grocery categories. So, it’s just nice that it’s here! Bigger would be better in terms of variety, but what they have provided everything I sought on a short listed grocery shopping trip.

I really like this place. I’m not personally committed to organic eating(the regular grocery is good enough for me), so I felt some of the items were a bit pricey. But, I think if you’re eating clean/organic, they are in a normal range. I only came in here for honey sticks for a baby shower, but managed to also come out with like $ 20 worth of tea. MOMs has a really great selection here. There are some familiar faces(Tazo, Celestial Seasonings), but there were so many that I’d never seen before. There is also loose leaf tea, which I purchased for the first time. There is a pretty wide selection of foods, spices, and other good here. The aisles are clearly organized so it’s easy to find what you need. The staff are also extremely helpful. There’s a large parking lot right in front, so overall, this is a convenient shopping choice.

First, I have to explain the emphasis on bay leaves. A couple of weeks ago when I stopped at a Shoppers, they were one of the items on my list but were nowhere to be found, and I mentioned that in the review. So, sort of a running gag on food stores. Very dedicated and friendly folks. The cashier corrected me when I came up with a piece of turmeric(a similar looking root) instead of ginger and thus saved my curry from missing a flavor. The ounce of bulk curry powder I put in was very good too. Also noted very good looking vegetables and reverse osmosis filtered water by the gallon, bring your own jug. A bit more serious than Trader Joe’s and bigger cosmetics and supplements section. Not as snooty as Whole Paycheck, but the prices are similar. Very good to know about when I need their wares and am not going to be near TJ or WF on another errand, so I can leave a smaller carbon footprint.

This location is a bit smaller than their Alexandria location, however, I’ve found their customer service to be far and beyond what Alexandria has to offer. Not that Alexandria is even that bad(and I’m only picking on that location since it’s my only frame of reference for another MOMs) — it’s that this one is that great. I’ve gotten some great cooking tips for obscure items in my basket and the cashier help me with my bags to my car. Regarding the food, you can’t even compare the quality of fruits and veggies from shoppers to this place. Since it can be more expensive here, I tend to go here when I want to «treat» myself, and make a quality meal at home with ingredients you can’t pick up at any ramdom jumbo store. Either way, it’s a pleasant experience with quality items. Take a while and you will see some items within your budget, and treat yourself. Free samples including coffee/breads/jam are a nice add-on.

Not nearly as big as the Rockville MOM’s, this is a small grocery store but probably enough to use as one’s main food source. This one nonetheless holds the same high standards of ethics and quality, and offers a needed alternative shopping venue to the area. Great selection of natural products and things for people with special dietary needs. It’s just off the main road, but parking is a breeze.

Having now shopped here for four years, I can say that I appreciate this store even more than I did before. They have the lowest prices for organic products. For example, compared to the Takoma Park Silver Spring Coop(a store of comparable sizes and products), the price differences are pretty stark. Organic tofu at Mom’s is $ 1.99, at the TPSS Coop it’s $ 2.69. Strained tomatoes in a jar are $ 2.99 at Mom’s and $ 3.49 at the Coop. Produce is a better price per pound/per bunch. These small price differences do add up over time! Even though the TPSS Coop is closer to me, I always try to go to Mom’s because of the prices and because of the selection. I also really like the friendly, helpful nature of the staff. They aren’t over-the-top but always make themselves available to help. And, if I go shopping hungry, I can always rely on the free samples of Trickling Springs bread, snacks, and coffee! It is fantastic :)

In the pre-Thanksgiving grocery shopping frenzy, I made frequent trips to MOM’s and the Yes! Market in Hyattsville. I have to give the redesigned MOM’s 5**. First of all, you have to admire the owner’s business smarts. The store was completely revamped and expanded because Yes! was coming to town. Who doesn’t like to shop at a store owned by a smart person? When I heard they were expanding, I thought«How? Did they find a tesseract somewhere?» But they made good use of the space. Right before Turkey Day, the place was crowded but it felt less hectic than Shoppers where I’d also been that day.(Regarding Shoppers I shall say: Yuck, and move on.) Second, selection. Now, it isn’t Whole Food$(Praise Jebus), but I’ve never gone in there for something and not found it. Usually I go in for four things and come out with eight. There’s also very good selection of health and beauty products and a great selection of bulk food and spices. And oh my God, have you seen their loose leaf tea section? Forget the over-priced stuff in tins and head straight for the big old hoppers. They have a great coffee selection too, including Zeke’s of Bal’more, but I’m more of a tea drinker. Third is the produce section. OK, even if you don’t care about organics, if you’re in MOM’s your next closest choice for produce is Shoppers. Shoppers produce scares me a bit. Why does it decay so much more quickly than produce at other stores? Maybe if I were shopping for a family I’d find the prices at MOM’s on the steep side, but considering produce I’ve bought at Shoppers regularly goes in the compost heap, maybe not. Plus, everything is still cheaper than WF. Fourth, the staff. Even when the place is going full tilt, the people working there are always helpful and friendly. Fifth, I get brownie points for supporting a local business when I shop there. OK, I get those at Yes! as well, but still. Sixth, MOM’s saved my ass this Thanksgiving. I needed a small turkey. Shoppers didn’t have them and frankly, I’m not crazy about buying their meats. At Yes! you had to order them in advance and I missed the deadline. MOM’s had a lovely 12 lb turkey that turned into the best damn turkey I’ve ever had. My only complaint: Putting the candy, including many exotic chocolate bars right along the register aisle — NOTFAIR.
