Hubbard Lodge and its hiking trails are located within the property of the 14,000-acre Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park located in Putnam County, NY. It is a leisurely ramble through the woods and along either the blue trail or the white trail. Regardless of path chosen you will encounter ruins, streams, flora, magnificent trees the usual park fare. My most recent visit was a few weeks ago on a sunshiney day after the snow had melted. There was quite a bit of water activity due to the melting snow coming down from the mountain which offered us soothing sounds as we made our way. I was not sure how far to go and whether or not if I kept going there would be a loop or a turn around. Better safe than sorry with the day drawing to a close we turned around. Not only did G love the trail, I have never seen him so animated on one of our nature walks, but I did too. It is a majorly lovely spot that deserves to be visited routinely as the seasons change. However, I have also been told there are Copperheads that live there and are visible or invisible on warm/hot days so I would suggest making noise as you go along and staying on trail and not taking a 5 minute on any of the stone walls, etc. With so many beautiful things to look at make sure to bring your camera too. :)))
