It was great. Too bad it’s called«Asiana» now and serves Indian food. Which is fine, but still. I miss Pacific Rim. I haven’t tried the new restaurant yet, so I can’t comment on the food.

Friendly and good. And they have other things besides sushi. In fact, this is the first place I tried sushi. The patient waitress encouraged us to give it a shot and promised we’d like it. We did. My, does that seem like a long time ago!

I think I’ve tried every Chinese, Asian fusion, Schezuan … restaurant in the area, and the only one I willingly return to is the Pacific Rim Restaurant. I’m not a big fan of this category of cuisine, as too many Asian-themed restaurants offer food with a mass-produced taste that is dull, excessively sweet, and confoundingly similar dish-to-dish. Pacific Rim stands apart by making the effort to flavor each entrée carefully and individually, and by using high-quality ingredients. The menu is pleasantly varied and, while all items are good, the seafood entrees are standouts. Conversation overheard from adjacent tables suggests that Pacific Rim is popular with out-of-towners: frequently return-customers, in the region on business, introducing others to the restaurant. I understand their loyalty — I’ve certainly had the experience of steering members of my dining party away from other Asian-themed restaurants and into the Pacific Rim…

Our work colleague was stranded out at the Hunt Valley Marriott for a convention(we snagged a hotel in Baltimore), so we rescued her and took her here based on the lone Unilocal review. Wasn’t sure what to expect… the sign out front read«Best Sushi by Balto Magazine» so that was comforting… Inside, there were a few newspaper reviews… good, good… The décor wasn’t great – it looked like an 80s-esque Marie Calendar’s with Chinese paintings on the wall. Anyway, no matter, we were hungry. The three of us had the hot ‘n sour soup, the orange fish(seemed like snapper that was fried in a very good sweet and sour sauce) and assorted sushi: Philadelphia roll, keppa maki, something with Old Bay seasoning and hamachi nigiri. WOW! The fish was super duper fresh – something I hadn’t expected at all. Service was indeed friendly. Interesting fusion menu – Pad Thain, won ton crisps *and* sushi!!! Get the Mai Tais too – sweet and fully loaded!
