It’s sad this store has had such a bad track record, at least according to Unilocal.I had gotten into a car accident trying to find this location, since it was the nearest one and the one in Bowie was only a temporary setup for some reason. I was desperate to try and find a Snap-n-Go for my son’s car seat. This was my last chance, relatively speaking. I’m a little late in leaving this review, which is why I can’t remember the name off hand of the manager who helped me.(If I can drum up the name, I’ll edit this review.) I was worried I wouldn’t have enough and had just missed the 20% deal by the skin on my nose. I was already running behind. Needless to say, the manager worked with me and converted me into a loyal Toys R Us customer. I’m not one for many big corps like Walmart(and I’m all about my fair trade and whatnot), but convenience and good service is priceless as a busy mom nowadays.

Very bad. They said I picked up and item I did not pickup and I was charged for it! Someone or management there doesn’t know how to do their job. Horrible! Avoid.

Why do I keep coming back here?! Why? Why? Why? Every time I come here I end up cursing under my breath and vowing never to return. Fast forward 2 or 3 months, and I’m back and the cycle starts all over again. The service is horrible, the place is dark, the parking lot always looks like an [unsafe] ghost town, and things are always out of stock. And if you’re like me and just want to «stop in quick for some food and formula» don’t waste your time because if you read the sell by date, you’ll make the calculations and realize this *ish must have been sitting on the shelf a pretty long time. I’m not saying it expired(they are not THAT bad), but the dates do make me wonder. Formula is a great price at TRU and BRU — you can’t argue that(unless you want to count BJs), but just go to another location — save yourself the headache. In addition, just a friendly tip: Do NOT register at Babies R Us or Toys R Us. Sure — they have a lot available for newborns, infants, and babies, and if you need it and buying it for your child, that’s one thing, but i am writing to warn you about the registry. Horrible policies regarding exchanges and returns. I asked the right questions(or so I thought) before signing up, and I still got f*d. Not fair. It’s not even technically money out of my pocket(it is the money my friends and family spent on gifts), but it still makes me so mad. I come in with actual proof of how much someone paid for something and expect that same amount back via store credit. Does that sound crazy to you? I repeat — full proof which they actually pulled up on their computers with name address credit card info and everything! My only alternative was to keep these items, but that’s why I was returning /exchanging — I had too many doubles! Please do not register here. I know it is tempting, but until they change their policies, do not give them your business via baby registry.

HORRIBLE!!! HORRIBLE!!! HORRIBLE!!! People… Do NOT waste your time shopping at this location if you’re looking for any kind of customer service. First, I placed an order online for two bikes and needed assembly on both. Called the store over and over and over again but to no avail. No one picks up the phone at this store. One time someone must’ve accidentally hit the button to pick up and I could hear the workers in the background saying how hungry they were and they could really go for a pizza but can’t have pizza on the special diet they’re on. Hellllloooooo? Can someone please assist me here? I spent the rest of my afternoon trying to get through to someone but it never happend. My next move was to call the 800 customer service number. When I finally got through(after going through all the prompts) the service rep stated that he wasn’t able to assist me. He then went on to suggest the I call the store and ask to speak to the store manager and file my complaint with him/her. Well helllooooo? No one answers the phone at this store!!! Again, DONOTWASTEYOURTIMEORTESTYOURPATIENCEATTHISSTORE!!! Believe me, it’s not worth it.

Dietrick hit it right on the nose. I should smack myself for visiting the store after the reading the review. They say«curiosity almost killed the cat.» NO. The bad service at this Toy R Us is the killer. It seems like the people working there are mad at the world, or at least everyone who walks into the store. I was in the store earlier tonight/this morning. Toys R Us opened at midnight due to the Christmas season. I was looking for specific toys, especially a certain Barbie doll for my niece. I asked one girl did they have any in stock. She looked at me, frowned up at me and barked, «NOWEAREOUT.» I was getting ready to ask her something else. But she abruptly walked away after throwing some other dolls onto an empty shelf. I walked to the front and asked for a store manager. BIGMISTAKE. She was just as rude as her subordinates. She simply told me in a stern tone of voice, «MAYBEYOUNEEDTOGOTOANOTHERSTORETOFINDTHAT!» That I did. I drove another 10+ miles south to the Waldorf, MD Store. I thought I was on another planet. I walked inside of that one and received the royal treatment. Everyone was courteous. I told one guy there that they need to teach manners to their brethren at the Mike Shapiro Drive location. DONOTSHOPATTHISSTORE! Also, no one answers the phone!

I am totally with Dietrick on this one. The attitudes are absolutely unacceptable for the best known toy store in the nation. When i first entered the store the first thing i noticed was the smell of cigarette smoke. not bad at first but it got worse as we got further in the store. this leads me to believe someone might have been smoking in the back or that the loading dock door was open and the wind blew it in. It may very well have been a customer out front but the smell too strong for that. There was possible a total of 10 customers in the store. which made it nice and quite, but just goes to show you that not many people shop here. Shelves were plentiful and appeared to have most items in stock. However i will admit that with 2 kids under the age of two I’m not sure what the latest and greatest is. I did not venture into the video game section as they are both too young for those toys. I was looking for a power wheels or a small trike for the oldest boy. There was a family there with their little girl sitting in one of the power wheels and an employee was helping them out. All of them seemed to be too big for my son so we went around the corner to the bikes. in the middle of the area was one of those little cars with the handle for the parent to push the kid. I set my son in there to see if he could fit. i gave him a little push to make sure that he wasn’t afraid of it and then i was approached by an employee. She asked me if that was a toy from Toys r us. i said yes. She tells me that i can not have him in there and that it was the store policy. I immediately apologized and picked my son up. but she was still glaring at me and telling me that i couldn’t do that. seriously? he is already out of the toy. She was so rude. we were not running up and down the aisles. No one said a thing to the little girl in the power wheel. and i absolutely understand that it is a liability to have the little ones in the toys. i was just checking to see if it was the right toy for my son. i could have easily ordered a toy online but i like going to the store so i can see the product before i buy it. In no way am i saying i was right having my kid in the toy, but there is a customer service issue here that should be addressed. I was so embarrassed and upset I just wanted to leave. but first i took my son to the restroom to wash his hands. OMG this has to be the worst smelling restroom i have ever been in. It tops public restrooms in NYC and San Francisco. It smelt like an outhouse. It was very dim but oddly enough, appeared to be clean, i think they just need to change out the mop water… ewww. All in all i will never shop here again due to the customer service. I would rather drive across the bridge or shop online. Come on guys this is toys r us, where are your smiles and friendly attitudes!
