There are few things I dislike more than high prices on mediocre food. Went on a Thursday night, packed as usual. I had the filet. It was served with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The filet was served on an extremely salty gravy that was difficult to enjoy. The filet itself was also excessively salty, dry in spots, and not as tender as a medium-rare $ 38 piece of meat should be. The potatoes were surprisingly under-seasoned and the broccoli was just broccoli. Overall I was really disappointed. Will probably give it another try someday but will stay away from the steaks.

Came in for a late dinner last night and of our three meals one wasn’t cooked properly, we sent it back and the steak came out rare again. During this we were very respectful as was the wait staff and manager after going back a third time the manager brought out a gift card, offered free dessert and made sure it was cooked properly this time. Customer service goes a long way and this place has the right attitude, all food was great except for a understandable hiccup, and the wrongs were righted in the right manner.

Fantastic. Girls night dinner and we couldn’t have been more pleased. Our server Kylie was spectacular; attentive and personable. The food surpassed my expectations. I had the apple bourbon chicken and wow was it delicious. The combination of apples chicken, and butternut squash ravioli was beyond amazing. The desert made by their in house pastry chef was simply devine; chocolate cake with ice cream. Can’t wait to go back.

Dinner tonight has a mixed review. The Crispy Duck was not too crispy and being served 2 legs and 2 thighs was disappointing. The Ahi Tuna and the Scallops were very good. As always, the calamari is superb.

Two stars because the food is good. Service was awful tonight. Sat for at least 10 minutes before our server acknowledged us. We waited for drinks, appetizers and food. Then we were ignored and had to ask«passers by» for water refill and our check. Perhaps they were short staffed? Who knows. Won’t be back anytime soon.

My first time there. My aunt chose this place for our family of 28 to go after my uncle’s funeral. I don’t know if the food is like this all the time but it was awesome. The servers didn’t miss a beat. They were friendly and didn’t keep us waiting for refills on our drinks. I have plans to go the for girls night out next week. Can’t wait!

Kobe beef with truffle fries and asparagus. One of the best steaks ever! Hope it becomes a menu regular. Staff is top notch as always. Put this place on the short list of places to try.

Excellent food, great service, nice ambiance. My wife and I found this little gem on Unilocal on a rare date night. We popped in without a reservation but we’re able to grab at table near the bar. We ordered a couple of «mules», the soup trio(the mushroom soup is fantastic) and the meat and cheese side board. Everything was absolutely delicious. A unique blend of favors in everything we tried. Servers were attentive and friendly. The room was a bit loud, but people pack the place, so it’s to be expected. Definitely will be back, but if you plan to go, grab a reservation or you’ll likely have to wait and watch everyone else enjoy their fabulous meal!

JBaldwins is becoming a regular stop for the GF and I. The Award Winning Calamari is, well, Award Winning. The house Cabernet is a recommended choice of wine. No issues with the service.

The appetizers were probably better than our entrée and dessert. Calamari is a must get. The baked Brie was a special and Brie never fails– it will always melt in your mouth — but then you throw in the tartness of a cherry and the crunch of a walnut and the sweet/sourness of an apple– scrumptious! The crab cakes were ok, I’ve had better. And our salmon was bland and the mashed potatoes had no flavor at all. But they were very nice and split the fish for my friend and me. Portions are shareable so that’s fun to order multiple things to try out! Lastly I can’t speak for dessert in general because we only had room for one– the crème brûlée won! It’s a nice portion… Wish the top was a little more Caramelized. It’s ok though… My friend and I still polished the plate. Thanks for great food and drinks! Will definitely come back again to bring some diversity to the crowd.

Fabulous décor! From first glance at the menu we realized it was going to be a great dinner. We had chicken wrapped in prosciutto and meatloaf and both were incredible! For dessert the waitress, whose service was wonderful, encouraged us to split the cinnamon donuts and they were delicious!

Excellent! Is the word I use to describe this incredible restaurant. The food and service are top notch. I love the menu it’s a mix of pizza, burgers and more expensive entrees like the lobster ravioli which is my favorite. They even have a kids menu. The desserts are ridiculously awesome. The bumpy cake is the best I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is trendy and very hip, yet comfortable.

I found the perfect place to sit when dining to cut down on the loudness, echos, and over all hustle of the joint. Ask to sit at the Eagle’s Nest. It’s a table situated between the main dining & the bar, and is in front of a glass partition. The partition seemed to shield us from the racket. Ate off the happy hour menu, and was satisfied. The sliders, fish tacos, and fried kale chips were outstanding. The truffle fries were delicious, but they dumbed them down by serving them with ketchup. I recommended an herbed creamy sauce(like Boursin meets mayo) to serve with them to keep the ‘truffle’ experience elevated. I would forgo the pizza. It reminded me of a «Tino’s» frozen pizza, very greasy skip it.

My second visit to JBaldwins was with a friend during the week for lunch. The restaurant offers a lunch menu that, while not large, has a good variety: sandwiches, a burger, crab cakes, soup, salads and pizza. The salad options are interesting as well, while they offer a couple of standards there are also a few more creative ones. My friend and I split the sweet potato wedges. Their version is excellent, a crispy out side, soft potato instead. The order was large, enough for three people. She ordered their calamari, which, after trying, then trying some more, understood their popularity. JBladwin’s version is different then any other I’ve had, partly due to the lemon butter sauce. I also had a cup of the soup of the day, chicken pot pie, and the boom boom shrimp tacos. The soup was outstanding, rich with good chucks of chicken and veggies. The tacos were good, but a bit more average than the other items we ordered. The service was outstanding, five stars. I wish I could remember the server’s name to give him credit. He was the right amount of friendly and attentive, he checked on a couple of dietary concerns for us as well.

Delicious. Food was great and service was on point. I would recommend this place for an casual nice evening out or you wouldn’t be out of place dressing up a bit. I had the sea bass special and it was cooked perfectly. Followed that up with the cinnamon donuts and a fat kid was extremely happy. Oh, btw, the calamari was excellent :)

This place is good. I don’t know if my experience was great, however. My fiancé and I went for an anniversary and had a good experience. I would recommend it to people. But wouldn’t guarantee that the person will love it. Their menu can seem a bit ambitious, without truly wowing an adventurous person. The dishes my fiancé and I had were creative options, though neither of us truly loved what we had. Mine was a Bourbon Apple Chicken entrée. I enjoyed it, but not nearly as much as I would’ve liked. I can’t recall what she had though.(This was in April, I believe on a Tuesday) Also, we split a Caesar Salad which was way overdressed. It’s not that the food isn’t good, because it is. It’s just that for the prices, and how highly touted this restaurant is, I just expected more. I went in expecting to give it a 5-star, and wasn’t impressed enough to do so. I’ll be back to give this place another try, and maybe then I’ll give it a 5-star. But until then, I’m not exactly dreaming of going back. Our server was also very nice and helpful. She helped guide my fiancé and I through the menu giving nice recommendations and everything. She even overheard us talking about how it was our anniversary, and quickly went over and grabbed a tea-light candle. It was a pretty hilarious gesture. Not the most impressive candle, but we loved it. It was also pretty funny, and such a simple thing to give a lasting impression. Unfortunately, my memory of that candle is better than my memory of the food. Until next time, JBaldwin. And there will be a next time…

A Clinton Township gem definitely made an impression on me. I came here last year before the remodel & it was okay. Thank goodness the experience was okay enough for me to come back after the remodel & try again. My first impressions: logo changed, chic atmosphere with dim lighting accented by Edison bulbs, & décor is new — a whitewash whimsical type of look with a hint of urban chic. Tables are served with fresh bread, cracker bread, & a light pesto. My table(2 couples) ordered Spinach artichoke dip — delicious! Great menu selection including meat/cheese trays, pizza, meat, seafood, & wine. Today they has a great selection of specials! Everyone at my table loved their food. I ordered one if the specials — Lobster Menage. Everything about this dish was amazing! Sauce was nice & creamy, lobster risotto was perfectly cheesy & creamy. Lobster was sweet & succulent, and I love the fact this dish was accompanied by my favorite veggie — asparagus. The scallops in my dish were outstanding. I can’t wait to come back & try pizza, filet, dessert, & so much more. J. Baldwin’s is amazing!

It is refreshing to find a non-chain in the Clinton Twp/Sterling Heights area that is so good. Everything is freshly made in house and with their own unique twist. We ordered the calamari and while I am not a fan, the two at my table who had it said it was the best they have even had. I personally love their kale farro salad(roasted pine nuts, radishes, chickpeas, drunken wine soaked raisins, shredded kale, shaved parmesan and honey balsamic vinaigrette) and have gone back just for that. Their pizzas are also great, especially the fig truffle thin crust(sliced pears, goat cheese, white truffle oil, fig jam and arugula topped with a balsamic honey glaze). They also have a nice beer and wine menu and have good happy hour specials, but at the bar only. This place gets crowded, so if you plan on going on a Friday or Saturday, call ahead to make a reservation.
