Best place I have gone to around the area for the longest. Great selection of wine and beer. Very clean and welcoming atmosphere. Their staff is friendly and usually has someone walking around the store that will help choose a wine that is good for you or the occasion. Somebody that actually knows a thing or two about wine, not just give generic information that can be easily googled.(lol)(It was great as a first experience to the different types of wines, not to mention they do not hesitate to let you taste if they have it available). Anyways, the layout of the store is ideal, if you have a particular type of wine you are looking for, it wont it take long to find, if they have it. Prices are definitely competitive at this place. I have always gone out of my way to come to this place and I recommend you do the same.

Very clean and a huge selection of wines and craft beer. Great scotch and bourbon selection. They have a very friendly and knowledge staff that can help you quickly find what your looking for. Some of it is a little pricey but very competitive to other places located in the area. They have great tasting of different products not just wines. Also they have a nice selection of snack foods and meats. Stop by have a wine sample and find something new. Cheers!

Super selection of wines from around the globe! Pretty good section of craft beers too. The prices are pretty reasonable. Wish they had more wine from Argentina and Chile though! All in all a pretty extensive store. Friendly customer service too!

Definitely the spot for wine — they have a huge wine area organized by country/region. Lots of reasonably priced bottles. Pretty good craft beer selection as well. Last time I went they had a small shelf for make your own six pack(which I’d never noticed before) so you could only select from the beers on that shelf. I wish it extended to the entirety of their stock like some other places allow but it’s still cool to be able to create a sampler pack. Prices are fair. They also do tastings and samples of cheese and such.

I had a great experience here! Walked in and talked to Mikey… He knows his wines and he helped me pick out a nice Riesling for my girlfriend. I told him I wanted a second bottle and he suggest I try«Loimer Kamptal Gruner Veltliner 2012,» noting that it was similar to the Riesling, but worth a shot if I wanted to try something new. I loved that because I’m a true believer that variety is the spice of life. Needless to say, she loved it — so thanks again Mikey if your reading this! I went in for a bottle of wine and walked out with 4 six packs of new beer(I’m a huge IPA junkie and after talking about wine I had to see what the guy knew about beer — a lot), 2 handles and 2 bottles of wine. Couldn’t be happier! Cheers to you Mikey! I’ll be looking for your advice next time I stop in.

When it comes to shopping for wine or some good beers I always go to Stew Leonards Wines in Clifton. This place has a great variety of domestic and imported wines and beers. Excellent selection of liquor too. Great atmosphere and excellent sales reps who are knowledgeable and always seems to offer great advice. Mike spent a good amount of time help me select a bunch of beers for a recent party. He knows his stuff and listened to what I was looking for and selected about 5 great varieties. Clifton offers a lot of other good stores to shop at but nothing come close to the atmosphere, selection and help you get at Stew Leonards Clifton.

One of the truly great liquor stores in the area. A wide selection and variety of wines from all over the world. Weekend tastings combined with a knowledgable and courteous staff. Interesting in store promotions Good selection of small batch bourbons and whiskies. What’s not to like?

It’s ok. Not a huge fan. The people are nice. Crappy single malt selection. Mediocre beer selection, prices for big craft bottles are kind of high. Food selection is not that great. I know a better place but I hate to name competitors in a Unilocal review. The wine section is kind of set up weird. It is great in a pinch, but not really a destination alcohol store. Um… cheers!

Had I gone to Stew Leonard’s prior to going to Total Wine [in West Orange] I would have given Stew 4 stars. The Clifton Stew Leonard’s is an extensive wine and beer shop. They layout of the store is relaxed. The hardwood floors, oak shelves and soft lighting give the store a mellow vibe. Wine bottles line the walls by region. On top of each wall section there is a quaint decorative barrel with a neat description of the type of wine. The floor displays are scattered throughout the store. The floor bottles are also grouped by region. Unfortunately, I found the floor layout confusing and difficult to navigate. For instance, the floor wines were grouped by country but there was no signage. Yea, I know… Just look at the bottle, but ain’t nobody got time for that! The prices are reasonable, and there are plenty of bottles for under $ 10! There is also a designated section of fine wines(you know the kind that doesn’t come from a box). I think Stew Leonard’s is a pretty well well rounded store since it has a decent beer selection, as well as small food section. In the end, I would come back and purchase a bottle if I were in the area. However, as of now, Total Wines is the undisputed champ of boozey-marts.

Great prices and great selection. Clean, organized and up to date. Only con would be the location. Although it’s a beautiful new shopping center, the parking is horrendous since it’s so crowded. Other than that, I would give it 5 stars!

Great service and wide selection! The tasting table was a nice added bonus. I like that there is a fine wine section as well as everyday wines for the everyday budget. I wish we had one close to home in Long Island!!!

Two major pros for wine shopping at Stew Leonards: 1) Abundance– A vast supply of wines from both every wine country and most known wine growing regions in the USA. Not only will you find your French, Italian, your Napas and your Central Coasts, but you’ll also find Long Island, New Jersey, and FInger Lakes represented reasonably well. 2) Price– A volume wine store can generally offer a very good price, and they do. Look for consistent fair prices and occasional sale prices that are extra enticing. Other than that, it’s a nice place to browse. The cards with wine descriptions are big and easy to read. The store is very organized by varietals and regions. The refrigerator is large as well if you’re more in a beer mood. As of September 19, they were well stocked with all the Fall«Oktoberfest» brews. Craft brews are there and the selection is just OK, however it’s obvious that wine is king here. As for liquor, it’s available but not strongly displayed. Added perks include occasional wine tastings. Stew Leonards is located in that busy, new chain restaurant/retail area just off of Route 3. There is enough parking fortunately. but the parking lot is certainly busy. Too bad there’s not a few more BYOB’s a stone’s throw away.

Great place to find a great wine. The beer selection is pretty good but could be a bit larger and have less bud and bud light. The tastings they do are very nice and have healthy pours. It actually convinced us to switch a couple wines were already had in our cart for the ones we sampled. Decent prices too.

As others have said, what’s not to love? Prices are really affordable and you can’t beat the selection. I was at a liquor store in Belleville about to buy a bottle of Kettle but couldn’t pull the trigger because I knew I could get it cheaper. I headed over to Stew Leonard’s and bought the same size bottle for $ 5 cheaper. And since the liquor is over by the beer, I couldn’t resist doing a mix-and-match case of some choice six packs from around the country. You really can’t beat the selection no matter what booze you’re in the market for. Their wine selection is obviously extensive, but what really impressed me was the six packs they had to choose from. Skip the refrigerator and head over to the warm sixers for the most diverse options. Saturday errands aren’t complete without a stop at Stew Leonard’s. Well, the only bad thing is that you go in for one item and leave with five. You can’t resist. OK, I’m gonna stop now before I really start to sound like an alcy.

I love the classy feel of this place, unlike a lot of other wine and liquor stores. Very comparable to Bottle King in terms of both the price and selection of beer, wine, liquor, cheeses, etc., but it just has a nicer feel to it. I wasn’t thrilled with the selection of import beers, but you can’t go wrong with the wine selection, hence the name.

This is by far one of my favorite Wine stores around. They offer an extensive selection of wines, spirits and also feature a separate room with all their high end stuff. Everything is labelled accordingly and makes it very easy to find whatever it is that you are looking for. The staff there is always friendly and will walk you over and help you find exactly what you need instead of just pointing to where it might be and sending you on your way. They also always make their own recommendations based on what it is that you like. The prices in the store are very good compared to the rest in the area. They also feature wine tastings where you can sample lots of different wines on daily bases if you are not sure what you want, or just want something different. Also they have cheese and hors d’oeuvres tastings as well as suggestions on wine and food pairing. It is also extremely conveniently located right on the highway.

Nice Store OK Pricing The Focus Here Is Obviously Wine I focused on the suds during my first visit and the selection was quite good with a few surprises. Next on to the whiskey and bourbon, here I was a bit disappointed, seems they just hit the high spots as the selection was very limited. The store is large and well organized with a vast selection of wine I had no time too peruse. I had little contact with the staff but they seemed like they were just going about their business and offered brief answers such as yes and no, check out was a breeze. I know, they call it Stew Leonards Wines for a reason
