Best NJ bagels. Don’t come in here expecting luxury. You go in you get your bagels and you go! Its a bit run down and divey but that’s because they spend their time making the best bagels ever. They have a few flavored cream cheeses and their coffee is hot and fresh. Sandwiches are constantly sizzling on the grill and cold cuts are Boars head and sliced fresh for you right there. I love getting turkey on a sesame bagel and they probably put at least half a pound of meat on my sandwich. The only thing that stinks about this place is the parking and the fact that no one can figure out how to park but if you try to avoid rush times its not so bad.

I love this place. Me and my boyfriend order from here an average of 3 times a month. We usually get the breakfast platter with scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns well done, and rye toast or a jalapeño cheddar bagel. It’s always amazing and affordable, And these bagels are truly the best in the area. They cook their bagels all day, so the temperature inside can be intense — but the bagels are always incredibly fresh, and everyone is always helpful and friendly. Nothing nearby even slightly compares!

We were visiting Clifton from California and I couldn’t sleep. At about 5:00AM I was checking out the restaurant scene on the web and saw that Plaza opens at 4:00. So I went and got a few Black Russian Everythings and an Egg Everythings. Wow. They were huge lumpy things with the egg bagel about the size of a softball. They were better than any bagel I can remember and when on the road I try to go to the highest-rated bagel place in the area. The bagels have a nice skin on the outside and are doughy and chewy inside while retaining enough moistness. The Black Russians gave off a cloud of onion and caraway aromas that filled the car on the way home. When chewed, the bread releases the flavors of the flours and other ingredients — especially the pumpernickel in the Black Russian. It’s good I found this place on the first day. I returned every day thereafter save one and brought a dozen home with me in my suitcase, which wasn’t such a great idea because I had to wash all my clothes afterwards due to the onion smell that permeated through everything. California is like a toxic, barren desert when it comes to bagels(and a lot of other things.) I try to make them at home, boiling them and baking them on bagel boards. It’s depressing that these bagels are so much better than anything I’ve ever made. By the way, at Plaza they boil and bake on boards. Ask any place in CA if they use boards and they’ll tell you they don’t even know what you’re talking about. It’s disgusting.

As I was parking my car, I noticed the sign said«Bagels baked continuously»; this is what all bagel shops should do throughout NJ. It’s actually quite sad to see how many bagelrys do not have fresh bagels, is it that hard! Just keep making bagels all morning, that’s all ya gotta do! I apologize for that little rant, but I had to get it off my chest, but it’s a trend that has to stop. This place is the coolest bagelry that I’ve ever been to; it’s like the CBGB’s of bagel shops! The first thing I noticed was The Ramones poster and other rock/punk/metal posters on the wall next to the entrance, plus they were playing old school metal/punk in the kitchen.(now to come to think of it I’m changing my 4 stars to 5 just based on that haha) I was in the mood for a Jersey Breakfast sandwhich(Taylor Ham/Pork Roll, egg, and cheese) on a bagel with salt, pepper and Ketchup. I gotta tell ya, this was a perfecly cooked sandwhich: the egg was cooked just right, the cheese melted to perfection and the Taylor Ham was cooked impeccably, and of course the bagel was nice and warm and had that consistency a fresh bagel should have. When I took that first bite it was like heaven on a bagel. The residence of this part of Clifton are very lucky to have this one of a kind really good bagel shop in thier neighborhood!

Great bagels, good service but the place is in need of cleaning and organizing. The entrance makes you think of cattle going through a stockyard, ordering is confusing not sure if your standing in the right spot or in someones way. They have non working coolers full of warm product for sale. The staff don’t seem very hip on new faces, I kept getting stared at like I had red clown nose on my face. Excellent bagels! I went in around 10 – 10:30 and the bagels were still warm and delicious. The menu is very extensive with a lot of variety and flavors of spreads. The deli seemed fresh and the assortment was plentiful. Service was good I’m sure the rush was over and they were on their restock phase. But they were attentive and willing to serve people walking in. Overall it was good not great or the best I’ve seen but good.

I live within walking distance to a bagel place in Rutherford and I choose to drive the 8 minutes to Plaza Bagel. It is excellent. The bagels have just the right texture of crusty and doughy and they are delicious across all of the variety of flavors. The jalapeño cream cheese tastes great on a whole wheat everything bagel. I have yet to eat a breakfast sandwich, but hot damn I make some egg and cheese at home and it tastes magical on one of these bagels.

The best pork roll, egg and cheese on a bagel! They give you so much food and it’s really cheap for what they charge. I’m drooling now as I’m typing this review.

This place has awesome bagels. I normally dont like to cheat on my bagel shop but this place was worth it. Also they had pretty amazing lunch sandwiches. I got a grilled chicken sandwich and to be honest at first i thought i was going to get a precooked piece of chicken reheated, but i was wrong. The guy behind the counter brought out a fresh bowl of seasoned chicken and threw a couple peices on the grill The bread was fresh as well. Overall breakfast or lunch this is a good stop Its also cheap!

I finally had the pleasure of stopping by this place. Truth to be told I am happy I did. The guy working behind the counter greeted me as if he knew for some time. People skills are a major plus and that goes a long way with me. I ordered two sandwiches, a Taylor ham and cheese and a BLT. I ate halves of each one and they were smoking. Good simple solid sandwiches that at times I have seen and tasted how some other places simply slaughter them. Not this place they are a good buy at this location. They were quick polite and they have some good food. Can’t wait for a second run soon.

Best bagels!!! NJ is known for our bagels and this hidden gem is home to the BEST bagels! Nice perfectly crunchy, but not too crunchy crust. Perfect fluffy insides! The top are everything and plain, but I like the whole wheat too – doesn’t even taste like it – is this breakfast or dessert!?! SO yum!

So first off the store is more on a side street off Van Houten Ave… literally by PIzza Hut. It looks a bit runned down walking in but don’t let that stir you away. The staff is so friendly! And they are hustling and bustling in there and you can actually see the bagels being made. They have a lot of cream cheeses to choose from but I wanted to try my favorite and see if theirs would be a fave of mine. I ordered a cinnamon raisin bagel with walnut raisin cream cheese and it was super delicious. It was a perfect amount of cream cheese and the bagel was nice and soft… I didn’t toast it because he said it literally just came out of the oven. I also got a sausage egg and cheese on a roll(I did not eat both but split with my hubby… both were so filling). I couldn’t stop eating both. The roll was super soft and the balance of the SEC was delicious. I highly recommend this bagel place. I will definitely come back to taste the other cream cheese like ‘Jalopena CC and garlic and herb cc’.

Don’t let the atmosphere fool you. This place might not look anything like the popular cafés offering«coffee art» with a mediocre bagel, but they’ll put every one of those places to shame with the food they make. Plaza isn’t just the best bagel shop in Clifton. I don’t live in town anymore but I can tell you they’re the best in the area. I’ll sometimes drive a half an hour back to Clifton just for one of their taylor ham egg and cheese sandwiches. No one does them better.

From the outside, this place looks like every other bagel shop in NJ, but these are hands-down the most delicious bagels and cream cheese that I’ve ever had. I go out for bagels every weekend, alternating between places, but keep coming back(and dreaming of) the bagels from Plaza. I usually order the whole wheat bagel with strawberry cream cheese(which is legitimate strawberry cream cheese with chunks of strawberry. it’s not artificial pink). From now until Thanksgiving, Plaza also has pumpkin bagels and pumpkin cream cheese, which is maybe the most beautiful combination known to this world(last Sunday, one of the employees said that the pumpkin cream cheese was even better that week than the prior one, and he was not at all lying. I was depressed when I finished my bagel and debated unleashing my inner fat kid and going to get another). The staff is also fantastic — they’re friendly and so sweet/helpful and even when it’s packed, they’re quick and efficient. I look forward to bagels from Plaza all week!
