I have to say… I love chinese food and this place is the BOMB! I feel when I deal with the owner on the phone, she is rude, however this is about the quality of the food. It’s the best in the town of Clifton, and I have ordered from almost all of the Chinese take out places in Ciifton. I highly recommend this take out place and the delivery guys are so nice! Great quality and priced accordingly… Thumbs UP!

The women that work there are extremely rude. Especially the one with her eye brows painted on. They have there kids taking orders and most of the time the mess the order up. The delivery drivers are very nice and always seem to be happy. Probably because they are away from the women inside the restaurant. So after you get past the rudeness, The food is actually pretty good, the only reason why I still order from here.

It’s not often that I feel a burning desire to leave a bad review, but in this case… I just had to! It always seems like a challenge for me to find a solid Chinese delivery spot. Since I was so hungry, I decided to take the risk because they had decent ratings on Unilocal. That was a mistake. I ordered scallion pancakes, egg drop soup, spicy eggplant, and chicken in garlic sauce. The scallion pancakes were deep fried and awful. I wouldn’t want my worst enemy to eat them! The egg drop soup was gel, and the rest of the food wasn’t cooked enough and had way too much cornstarch. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I will never order from here again no matter how desperate I am. Stick to Chengdu 46 or Lansheng! They’re more expensive, but sometimes it’s not worth saving a dollar if the food isn’t good. My friend and I were so disgusted by the food that we decided to call and let them know that the food was really off. We were of course very polite about it, but they were not. They were screaming over the phone and were ordering us to bring the food to them. So… We did. We just wanted our money back.

It’s rare to have this bad of an experience anywhere, but from the moment I called to order to being yelled at to bring the food to them if I wanted a refund to the dirty kitchen, it was awful. This should really be a 0 not a 1 star. I’ve ordered here 2 times before and it was average Chinese food. Nothing special, but decent for the options in the area so I ordered again… Ordering: It was a busy night, I get it, no one wants to go out. But I was rushed off the phone and was told at least 45 minutes for delivery. Ok, I can wait, but I was concerned about if my order was right because when it read back she missed a few things. I reminded her and she hung up quickly. Delivery: The delivery person arrived within 20 – 25 minutes and its a 7 – 10 minute drive. So I was surprised it was made so fast, but happy to eat sooner. The Food: After taking all of the food out I first notice how the scallion pancakes were deep fried, grease all over the box that melted the styrofoam, and hard as a rock. They were flaking off as I tried to break one apart to see if it was salvageable. I’ve only had soft scallion pancakes not deep fried, but yes they were little greasy. The chicken and garlic AND the eggplant in garlic sauce had so many chunks of thick corn starch in them. It was nothing like I’ve ever seen before. It was a thick gel, not a sauce. The vegetables in the chicken dish and eggplant were not cooked and raw. Neither dish had extra spice as we had reminded them on the phone, but this was the least of my concerns. The egg drop soup was gel, like thick enough that it stood up on my plate. Its soup, that shouldn’t happen. Yes, this type of soup is thick, but trust me not like this. It was clear they rushed to make the order to get it out quickly and never really took the time to make it. So I debated on what to do and decided it was worth calling them… Customer Service… lack there of: I called to talk with them about the food concerns and explain that I’ve ordered with them before but this has never happened. The woman demanded my address, questioned why I was eating the food now and not 5 minutes sooner, and started yelling in the background to someone else. As she yelled, I wanted her to know what was wrong with the food… she never asked. I told her everything was in a very thick gel, not a sauce and I was getting chunks of it in everything we ordered expect the deep fried scallion pancakes. She yelled again and kept saying«corn starch» to someone else, which I never even mentioned because I didn’t know that was what those chunks were. Someone else named«Anna» grabbed the phone and started yelling at me. I told her my concerns and she just kept screaming at me and the people in the background in Chinese. She kept asking me over and over if I ate the food, I said no, we tried it and it wasn’t good. She wouldn’t refund my credit card(which I paid over the phone) told me to bring the food there. I said I didn’t want to go out which is why I ordered delivery. Again I said I have the food, we didn’t eat it. She hung up on me. Went to Hunan Wok: At this point it was principle and really not ok that I was being treated like this for food that was not as it should have been. I bring in the food as demanded, and the woman«Vivianne» takes each item out. She opens them one by one. I’m told we have to use corn starch, I understand that but how much was actually used? She debates with me the consistency, sauce, and deep fried cooking method for their scallion pancakes. She took a fork and poked EVERYTHING I had. I could not believe it, I’ve never seen anyone do anything like that. Back and forth she wanted to defend the gel sauce, the temperature of the food, etc. I again said, you made me bring this back to you for a refund. She went on and on. Finally, after about 10 requests I got my refund. She saved the food, I’m pretty sure for someone else to receive. The Kitchen: As I’m in there, I see unsanitary conditions, buckets under equipment draining something maroon WHILE people are cooking food! There were 4 people in the kitchen, dirty aprons and others that were not properly dressed to be cooking or handling food. Through this, they are eating pizza in the kitchen again while making peoples food! I’ve NEVER seen anything like this, been treated this way when having a concern with food, or had to bring the food back to prove I didn’t eat it. If you made it this far in my review, I hope you believe when I say, find another place to order from! I am going back to Chengdu 46 even if its pick up only. What a night!!!

I recommend, it was pretty good. I had the Shrimp with Cashews was good and Hot and Sour soup was good as well. Prices are WAY better than Chengdu 46. I’ll update as I try new things.

Service here is good!, quick and friendly, I ordered from here the other night. Had the fried dumplings and General Tso’s chicken. The dumplings were great and it seemed like they hooked it up. Portion size is great and the dumplings were big compared to other places ive had. The General Tso’s chicen was on point and absolutely delicious. 10⁄10 will order from here again.

My family and I always order delivery from here. They always give us more than generous portions and honor their coupons from their delivery menu. We order so much that they give us like 6 fortune cookies, when in reality, it’s only the 3 of us. Leftovers for days! Delivery time is reasonable, maybe 30 – 40 mins. But, again, we order a lot. What we order(+/-): General Tso Chicken(or tofu), Lo Mein, Pork Fried Rice, Seafood Delight, Beef with Broccoli, and Sweet & Sour shrimp(my personal favorite).

Hooks us up weekly with reliably good food. Convenient, tasty and fast. Orders are almost always ready for pickup in 10 or 15. We like the fried vegetable dumplings.

I tried Hunan Wok only because I couldn’t find my «regular» chinese food menu and Unilocal suggested it. I first realized that their menu carried a larger selection than my usual place and everything sounded delicious. When I called I asked if they would be able to deliver, the person on the phone was extremely helpful and said yes even though was a good distance away. The food took fifteen minutes longer than they said but it was really wonderful. I highly recommend it and look forward to ordering from them again.

Chinese takeout hole in the wall. Not a romantic setting. Now that that’s out of the way, terrific food! I second what’s been said about the Singapore noodles. In fact, I ordered slightly off menu, Singapore style chow fun, and it was delicious, and priced in accordance with the Singapore chow mei fun. Abundant non-noodle ingredients too. Garlic chicken is not phoned in. It’s delicious. Dumplings are not bought in. If you’re headed downtown to drop off recycling, this is a great stop to reward yourself with. Yum!

You can’t expect much from chinese takeout. I was skeptical about this place from the past reviews I read but I still decided to order cause I was way too hungry. Got the veggie lo mein and hot and sour soup. The soup totally sucked but the lo mein hit the spot. I just wish they gave it in those chinese takeout containers cause that’s the fun of takeout! I’ll definitely order from here again, not for the soup though.

I have been going to this restaurant for twelve years, it used to be great, now, not. The biggest issues are they have young childern, ages maybe 10 – 13 years old taking orders over the phone which looks cute, but they are too young and are unorganized, sometimes sarcastic and rude, I mean, they are kids. When they get busy, there is no system in place, like some restaurants will write down your name or telephone number, they do not, they just ask you what you ordered when you go to pick up and only go through the first few items, so they constantly give people the wrong order and it causes major delays. Did it ever occur to them that some people might order similar items… hmmmm. Plus the food is so inconsistent, I order the same thing just about every time and the sauce, the amount of food is always different and over the last year it has gotten worse. I have been in the restaurant industry for 31 years, the only reason they survive is the comepting Chinese restaurants in Clifton are even worse.

I agree with Damian’s review. It’s about time I give my friends at Hunan Wok a «high five» for great food and service. Hands down this is the best Chinese take-out in Clifton. We’ve been ordering from here since it opened many years ago and it has never failed to impress. Keep in mind, this is not a fancy establishment but the food is always fresh and flavorful(and the restaurant is always very clean). They also have generous sized lunch specials at very good prices. Regardless, the portion sizes for anything you order will definitely not disappoint. As for the delivery, that gets an A+ as well. Very fast and reliable.

My boyfriend and I were looking for good Chinese take out and Hunan Wok didn’t disappoint! Delicious, inexpensive, fast delivery take out that satisfied our Chinese craving! The fried dumplings and egg rolls were very good! We also ordered chicken and broccoli and chicken lohmein. I think we’ve found our go to spot!

Small portion sizes. The Beef on a stick is not your usual BBQ Beef on a stick like you get at other Chinese Restaurants, this is more like a dry rub on the Beef. The crab rangoon(cheese wonton) was extremely«crabby» tasting. The Boneless Spare Ribs were burnt and not very BBQ. Very upsetting. This place used to be so much better. I definitely will not be returning. There’s a much better Chinese Restaurant just up the block. Delivery takes longer than told as well!

Five stars with the understanding that this is NOT fancy food. Service is quick(though not exactly warm and fuzzy), food is always hot and fresh, order is right every time and never takes longer than they say it will, prices are very fair. We usually order for Hunan Wok 1 – 2 times a month and never have a reason to complain. Dont know about delivery — I live so close that I have no reason not to pick up.
