I purchased my Cervelo bike probably 5 years ago from Allwood and Art was excellent and very much informative on how I should maintain the bike. I returned to the shop a year later to change tires and maintenance and they checked the entire bike for lose ends. Excellent service, very friendly and the price is very reasonable. I’ll be going back soon for another yearly maintenance even if I have to drive for an 1hr(move south). Thanks Allwood!!!

I don’t know waht theother two reviewers are talking about. Art provided excellent customer service for not only the repair that I went there for, but took the time to educate me on some other issues. This is now my go to bike shop.

I went to this bike shop to last year(November 2009) to help me assemble my first mountaineer bike in a long while. A bike tech with glasses named«Art» was the one I met. He charged me $ 53.50 for so called«assembling» the new mountain bike I got in the box and insisted that it was a complicated task, more than just installing a couple screws. A week later, I got my bike back — a few spots on the paddle had paint scratches, a broken seat post level and a overly lubed chain that greased out messy(all of which didn’t get noticed until later) but the front disc break constantly rubbing the pad is very noticeable — it even had this squeaking sound. Brought it back to the shop, he checked at it for a few seconds and rotated the front wheel in front of me, denied hearing any noise even though I clearly heard a noise. I told him that the rear wheel has no such sound but the front is definitely has assembly problem. But he refused to acknowledge the assembly defect, which was shocking to me. I had no choice but to turn away — drove 40miles to the newly opened REI store in East Hanover, NJ. Half an hour later for a cost of $ 8, everything was resolved. The bike tech at REI even helped me readjusted a couple bolts that Art messed up before. That’s a whole world of differences. Allwood Bicycle, being a local bike shop, didn’t provide the local hospitality, but to overcharge and failed to delivery the very basic bike service and FAILEDCOMPLETELY towards customer service satisfaction. As a new bike shopper looking for quality & honest service, if you are too lazy to go far & shop around, you are definitely paying more than you should for a service. «You got what you paid for isn’t always true», in my case, it surely wasn’t. Update(July 28, 2010): Art called this afternoon and threatened to sue me if I don’t remove my review here — he claimed that I bought«a piece of sh*t» and it had nothing to do with his skills and his shop’s reputation. And you know what? If you care your business, you treat your customer right and charge the proper amount for the service instead of denying your failure of service, you would never have to worry about word of mouth.
