The sweet and sour calamari is a must have. I have now had it several times and it never disappoints. I highly recommend it to anyone who visits. Tonight for the main course I had the sea scallops and they were quite good. During the week they have great happy hour specials and usually draw quite the crowd.

Ok food. Sh*t service. Screwed up all my to go orders. Today I picked up my missing item from my order and the manager literally tossed it at me and walked away. Will no longer be going here, there are far better restaurants in the area.

Years ago perhaps this was the go-to place in Saratoga for great pasta dishes. I have visited both locations and lately I just haven’t been overly impressed. There’s just better similar places nearby.

Boo. Server was nice, but had to be prompted too many times on a less than busy Friday Night. I was dubious the«lobster» ravioli, was actually lobster. The special dinner I ordered was average at best(lamb stroganoff). Had fun, but not because of the restaurant…

Had a really great time! Our waiter Reily was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and how the food was prepared. I had the the clams with linguine which was good. I was expecting more fresh clams… It was 4 fresh clams with other clams chopped up over it. The sauce was lovely. I would have enjoyed some bread with it. The veal special looked good but was small for the price. My husbands chicken parm was quite acceptable he said. I am surprised these entrees do not include salads. We got the tiramisu for dessert and it was very good. Overall we had a lovely time. We will be returning.

What happened??? We used to be regulars. Not anymore. We went for dinner this past Saturday night and what a disappointment! Our server was very nice and our drinks were ok(wine and sangria) but the food was horrible! Arancinis came out FROZEN in the middle although presented nicely. Had to send back and wait another 15⁄20 mins for it to come back out. My husbands skirt steak was smashed so thin we were in shock — it had never looked like that before. My salmon was okay. Im not sure what they are doing but the place seemed very relaxed and the servers now wear regular t-shirts. it was kinda weird for us having really enjoyed the place before they did renovations. sad.

I’ve never eaten at the Clifton Park location. The Saratoga Location has always been amazing. Based on that I stopped yesterday We had a waitress that had friends sitting at a table behind us. They were talking about their personal lives, high fiving and the guy was making some obnoxious snapping noise with a straw. The girl got up to presumably go to the bathroom and hit my chair with her chair and did it again on the way back Our table lacked place settings and I asked for them when we were seated, however my request wasn’t grated until someone brought our apps.(maybe the sous chef?) The apps were excellent, I had bruschetta, my wife had caprese. I was excited for my entrée which was Linguini with clams and my wife had lobster ravioli. Before i get to my dish, the lobster ravioli was made with crab? It says it on the menu but why not change the name? Ok… we’ll just say my linguini was completely inedible. It was under cooked and congealed. It was absolutely disgusting. I’m not a big sender back of food, infact it’s literally been years. If i have a problem, i deal with it and figure no one is perfect. However, this is LINGUINI!!! An 8 yr old can make it. IDK if it’still the case, but Wheatfields signature has always been homemade pasta. I’ve never seen pasta this bad in a restaurant like this in all the years I’ve been dining out. I sent it back,(mistakenly) asking for it to be wrapped. My wife had her(crab) ravioli wrapped and we went home. I spoke briefly with someone on FB who was pleasant enough. I opened my food in front of the TV. This stuff is JUSTASBADASTHEFIRST. Really? If you have a chef that cant cook pasta. CLOSETHEDOORS. Never again, in fact i probably won’t eat in Saratoga either. A sign of the times I guess, no one cares about what they do, they just care about money. $ 73(no tip) for a pile of garbage and w ruined date night with my wife… Thank you Postscript: eat inside, the patio is a mall parking lot.

Not sure how this place had 3.5 stars overall. Staff — from the hostess, to the server(Katie) to the food runner, we’re all on-point. Sangria for the wife, dinner, desert & a cappuccino to finish off a near perfect dinner. Thursday’s 3-course meal made it nicely priced as well!

Dinner for 7 at 6pm. They managed to get me a table when I called at 1pm on the same day. Seated promptly. Our server, Sam, was polite and attentive and he knew the specials like a pro. Everyone seemed pleased with their food. They have ‘Josh’ from Napa as a wine choice. Those who drank Grey Goose and soda seemed pleased with the balance of booze and mixer. Decent looking inside and a great time was had by all!

Went for a special meal with my husband. The server was very good, a little too happy if that’s possible but had great recommendations for food. When asked for a wine recommendation he fell a little short but I’m fairly particular. The worst part was how brusque the food runners and bussers were. There’s no need to be so short with a table that has a question or wants to say thank you. The music was also very out of place for the setting. Overall it was very nice and we’ll go there again. Definitely get the calamari! Yum

A pretty good Italian restaurant that dresses fancier than it is. The food is fine, the service adequate. On my most recent visit(I’ve gone maybe five times total — always with someone else who chooses the place) we had to wait about five minutes to be seated. I got there around 3:30 so it wasn’t exactly peak time for any restaurant but at least two employees saw us and said nothing to us, and apparently didn’t say anything to anyone else either. When we got seated we did get prompt and courteous service. The hostess and waitress were very friendly. We got a couple of pizzas and my friend got a beer. The beer was served without a glass, even when requested. Simple mistake. When the glass did come it wasn’t exactly clean. The restaurant itself tries to look more upscale than it really is. The prices in the menu reflect that. It isn’t garishly expensive but you definitely pay for the upscale feeling they want you to have. It looks like a place you should dress nicely for but once inside the wait staff and clientele show that casual is okay too. The last couple times I went I remembered to ask for a seat near the window. The restaurant is so dark that even my younger healthy eyes have an issue seeing the menu. Whenever I’ve gone for dinner(namely on my Grandma’s birthday) the older clientele use their phones or LED keychain lights to illuminate the menu. I’d go back if a friend or relative made the suggestion but nothing about the place screams ‘must have.’

When we come here we usually enjoy. Was there just this past Friday evening, less than a 10 min wait for a table for 2, not bad. We always get the Sweet & Sour Calmari, our main reason for going. So disappointed, what should have been crispy, was mushy, was almost undercooked. We had an entrée Ceasar Salad and the Pizza special to share. Pizza was good, salad meh. Our waitress was a nice girl(but she needs to learn to speak over the din… place is loud. Something seemed very off

I’ve been visiting Wheatfields off and on for about 9 years now between their Saratoga and Clifton Park locations. Despite changing ownership during that time, I think they’ve become a reliable place for good food. Their Sunday brunch menu is a good introduction to their food. Quality of the food is great, and portions are quite generous. My husband has tried(and miraculously completed) the bistro skirt steak and eggs. The steak was cooked to his desired temperature(medium-rare) and was excellent. I’ve consistently enjoyed their frittata of the day. I’ve also tried the breakfast wood-fired pizza, which is actually enough to share with one other person. It’s a great way to try out their crust, which is just the right level of crispy and not too sweet.

TL, DR: If you’re driving and want a relaxing stop/meal… keep driving. If you do stop, avoid pasta and salad, but pizzas might be harder to mess up. And prepare to chase down your waitress. Food: 2/5, wine: 4/5, cleanliness: 2/5, ambiance+décor: 3⁄5 It’s 9pm, we’ve been driving for hours and looking for an easy stop off the highway. And there it was, with torches burning outside like a temple of heavenly food and wine… or not. Hostess: We were quickly sat(opentable reservations junkies are welcome) and this is where it went downhill. Décor: it’s cute, for the area, nothing too fancy. The problem is that there was lot of food on the ground(bread, butter, other) and not just close to our table, but also in the main walking areas. Hopefully they keep the kitchen cleaner. 2⁄5 Ambiance: kudos for the live music(Friday night) which was entertaining, not too loud and did add to the experience: 4⁄5 Service: our waitress was MIA for most of the night, we had to actually chase down other waiters who would relay our requests to the waitress. 2⁄5 Food: — Wheatfields chopped salad with chicken came without chicken, lettuce was coarsely chopped and dressing didn’t have much flavor. 2⁄5 — Porcini radiatori: those pasta are thicker(created in 1960 by an industrial designer for thicker sauce). The problem was the lack of said thicker sauce, the lack of the porcini mushroom(crumbs at best) and undercooked chicken(my worst nightmare). I had a few bites and stopped. 1⁄5 — Bread: warm, yummy, comes with olive oil, whipped butter. 4⁄5. Wine: Good selection, fairly priced. Shockingly light on the italian side for an italian restaurant, but good nonetheless. 4⁄5

Every time I am back in town from out of state this restaurant is a must. My daughter and I absolutely love the food here. They have a wonderful gluten free menu for her and I always try a different homemade pasta dish. The service is always wonderful and the ambience enticing.

I’ve been twice with my sister who lives in the area. My first visit was excellent from start to finish. That is why I gave 4 stars. That being said, the second visit left a little to be desired at first. We had a 4PM reservation to celebrate my sister birthday. It was just the girls in the family. When we arrived, the restaurant was almost empty. That was expected because of the time. But almost empty also means hardly any staff. We stood there for a few minutes waiting for the hostess. The phone rang so we figured he or she would be there to answer. Nope. We continued to wait and the phone continued to ring. A waitress came out to one of the occupied tables and saw us standing. She walked away, came back out to clean a table, looked at us again and walked away. Still nothing. Finally, the birthday girl had to go up to a waitress and ask if we should be seating ourselves. The response…“Are you waiting for a table?” Really? She went and got the hostess and she sauntered out with an air that she was doing us a favor by coming out to sit us. No apology. Not even a smile. It was like we were putting her out. In a word… rude. The rest of the experience was good. The food was excellent and our waitress was very nice and attentive. She even overheard us talking about my sister’s birthday and gave her a free desert. We left much happier than when we came in. Perhaps it was the drinks(very good by the way). Either way, I do recomend this restaurant.

I didn’t have high expectations since I’m not a huge fan of the Wheatfields in Saratoga. but I was pleasantly surprised by last night’s experience. I was with a group of 8 — we had tickets to a show in Albany and didn’t think ahead about dinner. We called 4 different places to see if they could take us at around 5:30/6pm and Wheatfields in Clifton Park was the only one that could/would accommodate us. That won immediate brownie points. The service was great. Our main person was a young, attentive girl that was all over keeping up with drinks — adult and otherwise. She had some help from some of the other staff and I was impressed with how they kept everything moving(without being even slightly obnoxious). I was really surprised at how good the food was. I ordered the salmon with risotto; I asked for the salmon to be cooked as rare as possible… it was perfect. Not a hint of fishiness and the maple mustard glaze on top was delicious. Sweet and sour calamari was ordered for the table and it was one of the best calamari dishes that I’ve had. Lightly/barely breaded with a sweet thai-chili sauce — cooked perfectly(not chewy at all). I would go back there just for the calamari. Everyone else at the table really enjoyed their dishes: Bouillabaisse, Lobster Ravioli, Chopped Salad, Linguini in Alfredo sauce with shrimp, Scallops, Crab mac and cheese, Brushetta Halibut. Everyone raved about what they ordered. The bread for the table was also great — warm, fresh and crusty — without being too hard. They also serve olive oil on the table with a side of garlic butter. I could have made a meal out of the bread and calamari… A couple of people had crème brûlée for dessert — I was handed a spoon full of it and it was delicious. It was very busy there last night so it was extremely noisy. I’m guessing that it’s usually pretty noisy due to the way it’s built, but I’d still go back there again based on this experience.

I had a lovely scallops and artichoke dish and we shared a gluten free pizza margherita as an appetizer. The gluten free execution of the pizza crust was very good and the corn rich gluten free bread was delicious tasting too. My dining companions have no need to keep gluten free, but enjoyed both the the gluten free selections. The GF bread products had a real bread consistency, but lost the heat(they were warm when they arrived) quicker than the real bread that was on the table. I’m also a sucker for any type of white bean and garlic accompaniment to bread; we wanted to eat it by the spoonful. This place might have been 4 stars, but on Friday evening they have a live piano player and singer and it was incredibly loud. Worse, our group of 3 ladies(who had not had time to get together for months due to insane schedules) was seated directly in front of the speaker and it was unpleasant for the first 45 minutes of our meal. Maybe I’m getting old, but seriously, every non-night club non-college-centric establishment needs to turn it down.

Afternoon in Clifton Park + a group of 10 + Wheatfields = a lovely little lunch. Had a bite of the Caprese Salad — the mozz was delish. Ordered the Chicken Rigatoni for my main meal. And it was mighty tasty. Not a huge fan of mushrooms so the waitress said«no problem» to making the dish without. In fact the waitress did a great job taking care of all of us. Drinks + apps + meals and everything came out perfect. Prices are reasonable… but I did think $ 15 for the Chicken Rigatoni was a bit steep for a lunch portion, it was still delish though. Given another opportunity I’d definitely try the paninis and pizza. Mmmmmm Italian Panini.

It’s been awhile since our last visit, and overall, I’d say the food this time was just a bit more pleasing than the last visit. We started with a couple of White Sangrias($ 11 each). I found it considerably more tart than I could enjoy, so when it came time for a second round and I still had not drank most of mine, I passed my glass over to my wife and ordered a Browns Ale($ 5) to go with my entrée. There was a special menu on the Thursday that we were there calling our attention to «Three Course Thursdays.» Choosing from this menu and the three courses would cost $ 19. We both saw choices that interested us on this menu so there was no need to look further. We each chose one of the two apps that were offered. The Carrot Ginger Soup with Poached Shrimp was the perfect consistency, full of fresh carrot flavor, herbs, and several shrimp that were poached to perfection. The Beef Satay was served with cold sesame noodles. The beef was both tender and flavorful while the noodles had just enough sesame oil on a bed of greens with some julienne carrots. For the record, we did NOT choose the Angel Hair & Sugar Snap Peas that was an option. Instead, we had the Pan Seared Red Snapper with Eggplant Caponata and basil oil, and the Grilled Filet Kabobs with baby bok choy and stir fried rice. The Eggplant Caponata that came with the Snapper was a bit more bitter than we would have liked. Possibly some more freshly picked eggplant would have taken care of this. Otherwise, the Snapper was good, very lightly breaded, and moist. The Filet Kabobs were grilled medium, had plenty of grilled flavor, and were tender. The boc choy was freshly steamed to tenderness while the stir fried rice, though not eventful, was still good. Two desserts were available and of course we had to try each. A Chocolate Mousse consisted of a dollop of mousse on a plate with a pretzel, chocolate syrup and whipped cream. It was rich with a good amount of chocolate flavor and just the right size for a balanced meal at this price level. The second dessert offered was four scoops of Gelato — watermelon, cantaloupe, mango, and honey dew. There was plenty of real flavor in each scoop, even if the consistency was more like sherbet or sorbet. While I finished my beer my wife had a Double Espresso($ 5.90). Service was excellent. Our server was knowledgeable about each dish we discussed and kept a close enough watch on us to anticipate our needs.
