Greyhound Package Express

It sounds slightly more shady than it actually is, but it turns out that Package Express is a really great service. I had my bike Fed Ex-​ed to Seattle for $ 140. It took 5 days, I was able to track my package online, which I was able to insure for the value of my bike, and it arrived promptly and predictably. Reluctant to shell out another $ 140, I stumbled upon Greyhound Package Express which would ship my bike in 2.5 days for $ 60. The only problem was, the insurance maximum was $ 300, and the Greyhound reputation, website, and the customer service personnel I grilled on the phone prior to shipping didn’t exactly inspire confidence.
But before I could balk, my dad called to tell me that the bike was en route and I crossed my fingers hoping that it didn’t end up in some ditch in Detroit, or totally mangled should it ever make it to Cleveland. Like clockwork, I received a phone call 2.5 days later from a friendly and pleasant Greyhound employee (offset by my run-​in with a particularly malignant woman working the counter), alerting me that my package had arrived and would be available for pick-​up until 9pm everyday for the rest of the week. I rushed to the station and found my boxed bike had arrived intact, in half the time as Fed Ex, and for half the price.
Yeah, it sounds totally sketch, but my one experience has been nothing but positive (save for the aggressive counter lady), so it’s definitely worth a shot!
